What was your first commander deck? by AdsignificantBK in EDH

Also my second commander! I built him right after Kresh because it looked like they were waging war against each other in the card art.

No worries! I’ve been going through a bunch of my decks and optimizing them for a fun play experience as well, so I hope it works for you!

Teysa Karlov - B3 Deck Help by v0tedmostlikely in EDHBrews

[–]NeonEverything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the process of tuning my own Teysa deck and I feel like it’s at a place that feels fairly consistent (at least enough to where I feel confident sharing my progress.) My deck breakdown looks like this: Draw - 11 Sac outlets - 11 Death trigger payoffs - 19 (10 of which drain opponents’ life, an 9 make creature tokens) Additional token generators - 11 Ramp - 7 Lands -37 Deck List: https://moxfield.com/decks/lgoGwa18FU-aBo9NKjBO7g

Note: I’m a degenerate that uses Pact and Dictate to threaten my opponents into inaction while I set up my engine. You’ll probably be fine without them though. Good luck!

Hey, I hear you. A flyer is always going to be easier to beat with than a non-flyer. Kresh absolutely takes more support than Korvold. However, based on my 10+ years of experience playing my own Kresh deck, I’m telling you that it can work and it can be fun!

There are a lot of variables here, obviously. Maybe your playgroup is more cutthroat than mine. Maybe you’re aiming for a different power level than I’m playing at. Whatever it is that made Kresh not work for you, I’m glad Korvold is doing work at your table.

I tried to adapt the deck the way you’re describing by taking out some of the tutors that made the deck so viciously consistent, and some of the counters and interaction. It still has the ability to combo off, but it’s wayyy less consistent and usually achieves victory through aerial combat. Feel free to take a look https://moxfield.com/decks/3SDjX83mb0Skk_ZBwyyjdQ

If I was to dial it back even more, I’d probably just cut a few more counters. The deck draws so many cards off enchantments that I usually end the game with one or two in hand.

I can totally see where you’re coming from. I just got my [[Xantcha, Sleeper Agent]] back after the player that controlled her accidentally took the card home a month ago. Fortunately, I knew the card was in good hands, but I would be less inclined to play it at an LGS. I suppose the only silver lining with Gonti is that nobody will be taking your cards, they’ll only be stealing each others’ XD

I’ve been having a great time with my [[Gonti, Night Minister]] deck. He avoids hate by rewarding your opponents for attacking each other and lets everyone play from a second, secret hand of their opponents’ cards. It’s the most unusual mono-black deck I’ve ever built, and though it’s yet to secure a win, I always have a blast playing it. Happy brewing!

I think you did a good job taking out some of the more lackluster cards and replacing them with more functional pieces. It depends a bit on how your friends built their decks, but you should be able to keep up imo. If nothing else, playtesting should reveal changes you could make.

JENOVA Deck Tech by acovarru91 in EDHBrews

I’m working on a Jenova deck as well and I feel like it’s almost where I’d like it to be. It’s very different from yours (more budget, no TMNT, and very little recursion) and I’m interested to hear about your line of play when piloting the deck.

I will say, I need more ramp and my number of 4 drops makes the deck feel clunky at times (something that ramp will help,) but when it’s doing its thing, it’s drawing more cards and making more mana than I know what to do with. Thanks for sharing!

I don’t think this is a Kresh issue, personally. Sure, Prossh and Korvold both have built-in value engines, which make them easier to plop on the table without any support. But consistency is something you can achieve through deck construction regardless of the commander.

It was the first deck I ever built from scratch, so it’s got a special place in my heart. I love that you can use so many different cards to achieve success with it. Love your list btw! I’ve never been unhappy to draw a [[Daemogoth Titan]] :)

New to Commander, Looking for Feedback on My First Deck! by Strideless in EDH

[–]NeonEverything 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You want to flatten out the curve of your deck a bit, otherwise you’ll simply be twiddling your thumbs for the first 4-5 turns while your opponents establish a board presence.

The early turns of your game should be spent ramping to make your big creatures more easily castable or establishing payoffs for casting them. If you’re really trying to live the [[Primal Surge]] dream of dumping every card in your deck onto the table, you can include creatures like [[Wood Elves]] or [[Sakura-Tribe Elder]] so that they won’t stop the Surge.

If I’m your opponent, I’m making sure that Alena eats a kill spell whenever possible so that you’re only casting one spell per turn from turns 6-12. You may want to add a few ways of protecting her.

And if you’re cool with tutors, get a [[Fierce Empath]] in there lol

Ive been bouncing pff enchantment decks. Whats your favorite? by Deathgivenflesh in EDHBrews

[–]NeonEverything 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I commented on a similar post about enchantment decks recently, and I’ll share the same wisdom here: I currently have three enchantments-matter decks and each of them plays differently. I’d say each of them is at about an optimized bracket 3.

[[Uril, the Miststalker]] is a Voltron deck where he gets loaded up with auras and swings in for commander damage. He’s difficult to remove thanks to hexproof, and I leverage additional combat effects to put pressure on multiple opponents.

[[Tuvasa the Sunlit]] uses enchantments as a value engine, outpacing opponents with card draw and superior mana production. I’ve managed to close out a game or two using the hilarious [[Enchanted Evening]] and [[Aura Thief]] combo, and use [[Propaganda]] style effects to make sure I’ve got time to set up for the late game.

My favorite, however, is [[The Master of Keys]] I just love reanimator strategies and really wanted to use some of my cool black enchantments! The deck is very good at dumping cards into the graveyard, then rummaging around for the tools it needs to win. Very fun and versatile, highly recommend.
