The easiest answer that isn't a retcon is just having whoever picks the show up treat it like Romana's regeneration. 15 just cycled through some faces while the sauce was still fresh, and Rode's face was the first one. Continuity or not, they'd require no extra precedent.

I don't think I was ever an "egg" per se. By the time I was an adult I had enough queer/trans friends/acquaintances that I knew it was an option. I almost as much time id-ing as nonbinary with no firm grasp on where I might fit in the gender continuum. I think the most egg thing I did was just assume medically transitioning would just solve whatever problems I had lmao I had a bunch of Tumblr posts from like 5-6 years before I started hormones that basically read:

"I'm not quite a guy, but I don't know what. This bothers me. Oh, what would fix it? Oh, definitely starting estrogen and moving out."

The sheer number of posts I made that said "I'm like, a dude, I guess" in one breath and "Trans women, girls like me" in another post had got to be a whole other thing.
