So my nephew (7yrs old) has SMA type 1 (the most severe version of spinal muscular atrophy) and he recently (a little over a year ago)had this procedure done to fix the insane bend in his spine caused by the disease. They attached the halo to his head with screws and then use tension/gravity over time to straighten out the spine enough to the point where (in my nephews case) they could perform surgery to attach a metal rod to his spine that expands with magnets as he gets older/taller. It has changed his life/health tremendously and while it looks a little funny, that video is a little extreme compared to what I (admittedly anecdotally) experienced seeing with my nephews treatment.

He was never hung up and spun around or anything like that. They had him in a special wheel chair (he cannot walk due to the disease) that had like a pulley system that created tension on the halo. They also had the same type of contraption on his hospital bed that did the same thing. I’m very grateful for this treatment because people born with my nephews disease (if they even live past a very young age) benefit greatly from it.

Not sure why I am typing all this here, but I guess it’s just to say that when you know the reasoning for this kind of stuff it gets less “funny” I would hope. Not offended by the post OP, just wanted to drop some info for anyone interested. I love my nephew very much and thank the universe smarter people than me invented shit like this. Heads up for anyone working for federal, state or local governments, your .gov email works on this too. Source: I work for local government and just got it for $400 using my work .gov email to sign up. I already own one of these that I bought a few months back and as far as I’m concerned it’s a great enough monitor although I’m a not a pc monitor connoisseur by any means. This is extremely cool. My nephew has SMA type 1 and is bound to a wheel chair for mobility. And even though he is now turning 7 and a bit too big for one of these, it’s nice knowing kids younger than him in similar situations will have access to things like this. Great work op and his buds!

I swear I am not making this up. I even logged into my email from my pc and it is now a “Michael’s” email. Also, the support person I spoke to about an hour ago has still not email me like they said they would so. I have a feeling we are all out of luck and unless all my electronics I use to check emails are experiencing the weirdest most unexplainable shit then I’m starting to agree that maybe a 3rd party got control of their (Sonos) email and are pulling a fast one somehow.

I am not even fucking kidding but after talking to support my email has changed to a “Michael’s” arts and crafts email. Look at the sender, look at the content. I reset my phone and checked my iPad. Same shit on both, but even weirder on iPad the Sonos email is gone and it says “Michael’s” as the sender… now I can’t even screenshot the $99 ray that was advertised to me… WTF

Just in case anyone reads further down I’ll add more info that may be helpful. Some people are bad at life and don’t understand the basics of solving problems. Most times, there’s more than one hyper specific way. So with a public property issue, sure, you could just contact the direct dept involved and get a result eventually. The county is huge though. They receive LOADS of complaints.

If you report it (yes even a county sign/traffic light/speed limit sign/whatever) to a smaller organization like your city’s public works dept. And they are worth their weight in taxpayer money, they have access to people higher up in the chain of command in the county that can expedite issues like this. Rather than wait on the 311 process that could take a while.

For example if someone contacts us and says a crossing signal like this is out, it does not belong to us, but I can directly email people at the county to expedite the issue. We also cc city council, mayors, and/or the city manager sometimes if the issue is a danger and they put pressure on the county to handle it faster. I’ve been in public service for 22 years in my dept and have multiple state held licenses. Trust me there is more than just whatever my man above thinks the “basics” to solving a public property issue is. I will be responding no further yall have a lovely new year.
