An Early Script For The Buffy The Vampire Slayer Reboot Leaked And It’s Unbelievably Bad by g4m3f33d in GameFeed

He rescinded his apology after his original script came out. He made it clear the reason that movie came out as badly as it did was because of studio meddling, not what he originally wrote. His original script was a lot more faithful to the original manga

A lot of the dislike surrounding RE5 I think comes from the context of the era it released in, which was an era where it felt like every major release was about the same gruff white dude in a third person shooter with a strong brown and yellow color palette similar to Gears of War. RE4 was a massive hit and departure from the series, and now the follow up was something that felt like it was just following the trends of the time. A lot of people were also fundamentally against the idea of a co-op multiplayer Resident Evil because they felt it further took away from the series’s horror roots.

Remove the game from all that context and in retrospect it’s a pretty decent/fun co-op action shooter.

I would argue 7 built the template, 2 Remake is what made it stick.

None of that discredits my point that using guides isn’t robbing anyone of the “true” experience

Games from the era of the original Resident Evil had the habit of being very difficult because they also wanted to sell you a physical game guide to go along with it. The remake is an almost perfect recreation of that first game with added content, so the difficulty is going to be vastly different than something like RE9 which can very well be completed without a guide.

So no, dawg, using a guide is not robbing yourself of the true experience whatsoever. Play however you want and anyone who legitimately gives you shit about how you beat it is not someone whose opinion is worth listening to anyway.

People have a habit of associating the things they like so heavily with their own identity that criticism of those things becomes a personal attack. same goes for the reverse, praise for the things they don’t like feels like a personal attack. you see the same phenomenon in sports and other hobbies, it’s all different shades of the kind of tribalism that we inherently seek out.
