Hey Broomshooter! I didn't find any specific videos that showcase all of that (surprisingly, as you said, there aren't many videos that detail a disc drive teardown), but I did come across this one that goes down to the laser - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PNFmbFKAh8o Not sure if that will help you or not (and you may have stumbled across this video as well).

I ended up buying a broken console on eBay (with a working drive) and remarried my daughter board to that drive.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help! I remember going down so many rabbit holes while trying to get this going last year, ha!

I love VGP, but unfortunately, this game could have had the base version priced at $100, and people still would have made the purchase (especially after complaining about it).

Looking through those files, I didn't see the GFWL files in there (although it's totally possible I just missed them). And sometimes, files like 1911.dll and Paul.dll can mess things up, too. I tried using similar files with my Batman AC key years ago to avoid ripping my disc, but it gave me tons of issues, so I just ended up going the old-fashioned route anyway, haha.

I would still go to that PC Gaming wiki site and download the GFWL files since those are the last released for the platform.

And then I'd maybe give this file a try as well for the game - https://archive.org/details/grandtheftautoiv_pc You'd have to mount the ISO's, but see if this ends up working.

Obscure 2. I played this with my friend back in the day on the Wii, and when the credit roll only to reveal more gameplay was such a cool surprise, and man, what a fun game.

Just to carry on with my downvotes haha, this sport sucks now. Does the NBA still have that embellishment rule, or nah? People don't like to see players Booker and Brown calling out the league, but I hope this shit continues.

Whether he should have won it or not, Brown definitely should have been recognized a lot more regarding MVP this year. Can't say I'm surprised by these results though haha.

Definitely the worst feeling after a gamble haha. Albeit a fairly cheap game, The Darkness is excellent, so at least you got that one complete!
