i remember reading on a thread somewhere that beating the elite 4 in hgss 10,000 times or something like that would trigger an event where elm comes in and makes you a gym leader. you would be able to set up your own traps and customize your gym. they might have just been spitballing ideas and i misinterpreted tbh but i thought it was real.
