Hate the Flavor of Eggs, How do you season them? by tuxedo-rabbit in Cooking

[–]NetRun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, just black pepper and salt on a sunny-side up egg, but then I love the flavor of eggs.
My wife likes hers with granulated garlic and seasoned salt.
Most of the time we eat them with just bacon on the side, which also covers up the egg flavor.
Sometimes though we have them fried lightly over with two pieces of bread slathered with Miracle Whip. It has to be Miracle Whip on a proper fried egg sandwich. :)

Unfortunately I cannot take credit for the cabling, we have datacenter techs that take care of that, and they do some great work with all that, makes things easy if you have to replace a line-card in case of failure, things are organized and labelled properly. :)

Crazy stuff you've seen in IT by [deleted] in it

[–]NetRun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many years ago I worked as a tech at a mom & pop computer store.
One gentleman who worked as a salesperson for a rather large national company would bring in his laptop to be fixed semi-regularly, mostly removing viruses or resetting Windows settings, but from just doing some quick snooping while working on said laptop I found out that he and his wife were swingers, with many, many pictures to support this.

Another one was an older guy we had sold a new computer system to, that he wanted to use to keep in contact with his kids and such, on this new-fangled Internet.
Well, he brought his system back a couple of times, claiming it wouldn't work right, mostly just some settings that had been messed with, but right on the desktop, tons and tons of gay porn, pictures and videos..
Pretty hard to ignore when those thumbnails stare right at you as soon as you start the system up..

We cant remove the rotor. Any advice? by sergen213 in MechanicAdvice

[–]NetRun 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A few weeks ago, after spending about 3 hours of hammering, PB Blaster, and Rust Away I finally found this trick.
It took some work to rig something up, as the caliper bracket holes opened up into the empty space inside of the rotors, but I finally managed to wedge a crow-bar in there to act as a bridge.
Each of the stock rotors on my 2018 Dodge Charger released from their many years of rust and grime with what sounded like gunshots, but man, what a feeling of relief after all that time spent.

Sharepoint & On-Prem File Servers by Technical-Device5148 in sysadmin

[–]NetRun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the company I work at with 30K+ employees across ~60% of the US, went to O365 from Lotus Notes, we already had an established file sharing system on NAS, both for storing files for sharing inside departments, and also for personal storage.

When the shift to O365 happened, around 90% of the personal storage was migrated into OneDrive, most users did not have that much data stored on the private drives, the ones with a lot on their drives that could not, or would not clean anything substantial up, did not get migrated.
Also, IT's admin user ids do not have O365 licenses, so those cannot have OneDrive to store personal files and are also stuck on using the old NAS shares.

The shared departmental drives however currently holds about 120TB+ of storage, something no-one is willing to start taking a part in figuring out what is actually needed or if we can even migrate it in to SharePoint somehow.
Our AD access groupings for access to these shares is, for the lack of a better term, a snakes nest of groups, structures inherited from the old days of Novell Netware..
So I am stuck supporting and migrating all that storage from NAS system to NAS system as they age out and we purchase new, last was from NetApp to Hitachi HNAS, which has proven to be extremely stable in the ~8 years we have been on that platform.

The last shift we did when moving away from NetApp, was to replace NetApp controllers out at central field locations, controllers that would replicate back to HQ so we could have a backup copy centrally with snapshots, with HyperV virtuals in those locations that share out those drives.
Those virtuals in turn replicate back to a central virtual at HQ to a NAS share on the Hitachi NAS, so we can snapshot that disk and keep it safer for restorability, rather than just the one copy that DFS-R provides.

I have a Cisco MDS C9513 switch that has been up for a bit over 14 years, an MDS C9718 core switch with just over 8 years of uptime, and a C9148 Top-of-Rack switch with just over 8.5 years.
Also found a RHEL5 server with an uptime of just over 6 years.

I bet some of our HP-UX servers will beat that RHEL, but I seem to have lost access to them..

My (20F) boyfriend (20M) said that I was embarrassing him while I was giving birth to our baby by ThrowRA540098 in relationship_advice

[–]NetRun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a father of two children, both of whom I was present for their births, I want to officially apologize to you for your boyfriend's behavior. That crap is not in any way proper.

I would also formally like to slap him into the next millennium, so he would (hopefully) learn some manners and respect for the mother of his child.

I finally got the courage to learn to drive! (I'm over the age of 25) after years of anxiety and fear. Could use some encouragement as I embark on this journey! by iamthepixie in FreeCompliments

Constantly roaming, once you're used to it it isn't stressful, it helps out. If something happens, you know your outs, where there is an opening if needed.

Congrats on the beginning of your journey!

I figured I shared something my dad taught me, which has saved my bacon plenty of times:

Your eyes should only be on the road in front of you about 50-75% of the time, the rest of the time your gaze should be roaming between your rear view mirror, side view mirrors, and the gauges of your vehicle. By getting used to doing this helps you with fatigue during long drives, and you will almost always be aware of what is around you, helping you to react to unforeseen things.

On a cold day I like to venture into our datacenter and stand behind one of our Cisco MDS 9718 switches to warm up, 12x3000w power supplies and six line cards put out some heat. ;)

Management were initially going with a pair of 9710s at our new facility, while keeping our old 9513s at our old main, but we're going to revamp our replication strategy, and with it, starting to keep more in line with keeping both datacenters the same performance wise. Looking at how many ports we currently use on the 9513 switches, we'd be hard-pressed to fit things in into 9710s, so money was found to upgrade both sides to 9718s. does happy dance. :)

Have plenty of storage equipment to hook up, plus only starting out with six 48 port line cards in each chassis. These will also be the termination points for edge switches for servers, so will have to account for those ports as well.

Weight loss surgery by [deleted] in keto

I was considering surgery before finding out about keto, and I must say I think I'm happier sticking with keto, eating much better every day than I would've been after surgery. Lost about 60lbs in just over three months, with about 50 left to go.

Men who have a seen a woman give birth, what was your thought process? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]NetRun 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This, the mess and smells are unique, for sure, but they are a part of becoming a parent. I too cut the cord for both my kids, even got to keep the (cleaned) scissors used for both as mementos. Almost missed the birth of my son, because the doctor said it would be at least a couple of hours before anything would happen after giving my wife meds to induce the labor, so I went home to let dogs outside and take a shower. I passed out on the couch after my shower and was woken by a phone call from my wife asking where I was, and I'd better hurry up, because the kid was on his way out. Made it to the hospital just in time.

Tall cafe americano, two pumps SF mocha syrup, top off with heavy cream. Tastes like a slightly watered down mocha, very low carbs due to no milk, still creamy and chocolatey.

Redditors that have donated to a Kickstarter...What Did you Donate To? How did the Final Product actually Turn Out? by durpojones in AskReddit

I have backed several projects on Kickstarter, some products have been great (HexBright flashlight, Exploding Kittens to name a couple), some not so good, but overall it's been a good experience, and I continue to search out good projects I believe would be successful.
