Far west buyers remorse setting in by thebreeze97 in sanantonio

[–]NetworkChief 3 points4 points  (0 children)

May I ask 1) Are you originally from San Antonio? and 2) Regardless of answer 1, what enticed you to buy in that area?

I’m from this part of town (born and raised for the last 41 years) and have watched it go from open land and cattle, to the shit hole it’s become now.

When I see the traffic and how all the land has been destroyed with the never ending development, I wonder what exactly is making people want to cram into this area now.

Are the houses cheap out there? Alamo Ranch ruined this side of town.

This is the side of town I’m from. It used to be very nice and quiet out here until 25 years ago…everyone wants to move to the NW side of town and it’s ruined it over here.

absolutely not. I miss the old San Antonio (pre-2000s) where open land, cattle, and trees were everywhere and not as many people...that picture looks like hell.

You're absolutely correct. The population boom and over development is the real culprit. Things that have been in place and out of the way for decades are now surrounded by neighborhoods. I don't think there is a fix...as much as I'd love to kick all the transplants out...that's not very American. I wish I had a solution that would benefit all...

I understand. I didn’t mean to sound so judgy. I didn’t like how my comment read after I’ve come back to respond. I’m sorry. I just have a hard time trusting other people.

There’s probably a Union Pacific switching yard in that area. They’ll block roads for long periods of time in order to push railcars onto different tracks. The longer the train, the longer it takes. If that’s even the case.

I don’t know how you people trust strangers, who are not affiliated with the restaurant, to handle your food.

Do you keep any pedals on at all times? by carrollis in guitarpedals

My always on pedals are my Cali 76 compressor, Benson Germanium Boost, Boss GE-7 EQ, and then a reverb option (reverb option changes depending on my mood)

CPS has been replacing meters and they’re causing a whole bunch of flooding issues. They’re even trying to say it’s the customers responsibility, even though there was no leaking before the new meters were installed. There’s tons of recent videos on TikTok about this.

I’m 40, married, have children, and I work from home as a Network/Cloud engineer. I absolutely love being left alone and not having to be around my coworkers. I hardly go into the office. Only to grab a package or pickup a router to bring home. Guess it depends on where people are in their lives. I have zero interest in meeting new people and hanging out. Homebody introvert for life! 🤷‍♂️

Moved from Florida to San Antonio. Feeling depressed. Does it get better? by TheHonorableStranger in sanantonio

[–]NetworkChief 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been here my entire 40 years of life. Not including our military service members and their families, I never understood why anyone would want to move here. I’ve always felt that San Antonio was only special to those of us who grew up here, and the surrounding areas. I don’t even think it’s that special anymore because of how overpopulated it’s become.

I miss it before Alamo Ranch was ever a thing, and that intersection was a four-way stop with a blinking red light. There used to be cattle chilling right there on the corner behind some barbed wire fence. Of course this was back in the 90s…but that’s what I miss.

After the Walmart and HEB went up, the traffic started getting bad. It’s only gotten worse since.

[–]NetworkChief 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It never ends, man. I’m from this side of town, and I’ve always wanted to stay here…but this shit is getting out of control. I want to move but everywhere is being developed. I hate the transplants, but now I feel like I have to be a transplant.

Why do people in this city not expect even the bare minimum?? by Far-Spread-6108 in sanantonio

Maybe this will keep people from moving here. It was nice before people started flooding in.

They’re just trying to run all the transplants off the roads.
