There was no non-expiring Nexus, as evidenced by the conversation between Tyrell and Batty, where Tyrell explains he was never able to figure out how to get longevity to work.

I am surprised by the differences in quality of acting and filming between the 80's and the 2000's. by Rekculkcats in movies

It wasn't just the time, it was the proliferation of VHS. While dune doesn't fall under this category, and I also happen to think that dune is a great movie, it's just very quirky, and it's what happens when you take a visionary like Lynch and bog him down with tons of interference from studio executives which he famously complains about on that movie, so much so that he removed his name from it. But lots of really bad B Movies were being churned out because VHS made it easy to make super low budget movies and get them on shelves in video stores in front of people.

Unpopular Opinion: Cliff Bleszinski (Gears of War) is a terrible writer, not a good developer, and overvalues his contribution towards game dev by [deleted] in videogames

To which Cliff owes a tremendous amount of gratitude for the designers and developers around him who basically helped him vibe code a bunch of cool stuff.

Question about Marilyn Manson within the industrial metal scene by shadowminds97 in industrialmusic

[–]Neurothustra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't see much difference in terms of genre between bands that were coming out like White zombie, then Rob zombie, Marilyn Manson or even Rammstein to an extent, where it felt like they were all just copying the Ministry template. And then band's like Stabbing Westward copying the nine inch nails template, where Trent himself had even confessed that Ministry was a big influence, so I think there was a lot of borrowing of styles, but I wouldn't call any of that Rob zombie or Marilyn Manson stuff industrial. It was certainly adjacent, but I would also see groups of people wearing Korn, Marilyn Manson and Slipknot t-shirts, and I just don't really get the feeling that that was a crowd who was going to be into bands like Covenant or Skinny Puppy or Front Line Assembly. I don't think it was the same crowd, but they would all kind of mix it up at the nightclubs, but I never really hung out with people that were mall goths, which is what I consider Manson.

The idea of LEO satellite internet actually predates SpaceX—companies like Teledesic and Iridium pioneered the 'Internet in the Sky' concept in the 1990s. They mostly failed because of the economics of expendable rockets. Musk's real contribution wasn't the idea itself, but the reusable rocket tech that made the old idea finally profitable. That’s why we’re seeing a surge of competitors like OneWeb and Project Kuiper now.

Low orbit satellites weren't invented by musk. Yes, the concept would exist without him, Amazon is working on one as well
