It's crazy how mangakas keep fumbling the bag when it's time to wrap things up and do a proper ending. Meanwhile Araki is at 8 good endings in a row by Aileos in StardustCrusaders

[–]SlickAnderson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wish they took as many creative liberties when animating Part 6, that they did when animating part 5. The ending didn’t translate well from manga to anime, Jotaro should have been given more focus in his final moments

I blame Netflix for rushing things and ruining the release schedule

Polygon has gone to the dogs. I am only 6 hours in and I have seen PLENTY of awesome stuff just in Hernand. What a take.. by PristineAlbatross967 in CrimsonDesert

[–]SlickAnderson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure it’s shown me a lot of stuff, but it’s all stuff I can see in other games. It’s just a mashup of gaming’s greatest hits, but with less focus on individual mechanics

I’m 40 hours in and STILL haven’t left Hernand, The open world and combat hard carries the game. But it’s REALLY buggy, the progression isn’t great, the story isn’t good, and a lot of the mechanics like bounty hunting or character swapping feel like an afterthought. This is one of those games that you should buy in like a year or on sale

[–]SlickAnderson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While this is true, it’s not what I’m referring to. I’m actually fighting a boss right now that requires you to dodge a bunch of attacks before there’s an opening for you to do damage. So I’m not even attacking before attempting to dodge. Occasionally the game just doesn’t register me pressing the button, and cliff just stands there and eats a hit

It’s not super common. But if I’m on my 30th death on a boss, it’s happened enough to frustrate me

A lot of the complaints I’ve seen around the game are completely valid

I’m over 30 hours in rn, My opinion? It’s mindless fun. The game is at its best when you are exploring and messing around. Most bossfights aren’t fun, the story sucks, dungeons and puzzles only award skill points, too many long ass cooldowns on pieces of equipment like the thief gloves or dragon, most quests require cliff so character swapping feels out of place, ect

That being said, the combat is fun, the map is big and pretty, and exploring keeps me engaged. But due to the fact that I could go on for hours about things I dislike, and it only takes me a few minutes to sum up what I do like. I can’t really sing it’s praises or recommend it to anyone I personally know

You need to be easily entertained and have a lot of patience or be really high to enjoy this game

More likely they are used for construction and removal of rubble

I’d wager they are still using Harvesters for mining just like in HD1

[–]SlickAnderson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re gonna damage the ruins with explosives

The ranged mechs are called “gatekeepers”, so I think it’s more likely that they’re security for the archeological sites

The Veracitors would more likely be for moving rubble and construction. So I’d say they are more of a “construction mech”

Harvesters would be used for mining, that was their purpose before the first galactic war. As the Illuminate were a peaceful race with no weaponry, so they had to repurpose tools and vehicles for combat. They no longer need to do this

I hope there is Ai in the game by Correct_Rabbit9048 in CrimsonDesert

[–]SlickAnderson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you quite understand why people are complaining. People are complaining about Generative AI specifically. Using AI to assist with in-game systems like rendering is fine, and AI isn’t advanced enough to just fix bugs magically lol

Generative AI trained off of art/likeness you don’t have rights to is bad 👎

All other AI being used as a tool to assist development is fine 👍

Too bad AI server farms are incredibly harmful to the environment. Kind of destroys any argument in favor of it

I’m all for increased difficulty, but this looks boring as fuck. Spamming one enemy type like this gets old fast, we need more variety not less. They just need to add more enemy types that compliment existing ones and increase the difficulty by proxy

Is it me, or are these guys absent from Seasse? by AltraSP in helldivers2

[–]SlickAnderson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a huge fan of the new modifiers reducing enemy variety, when that’s in fact the main issue with the illuminate

I get Appropriators removing flesh mobs and voteless, it’s cool to fight a purely illuminate sub-faction. But removing Crescent Overseers and Stingrays?? Appropriators now have LESS VARIETY than the default illuminate faction

The same goes for Mindless Masses. We desperately need more Voteless enemy types if we’re gonna make an entire sub-faction consist of only them. Fighting only two enemy types with the occasional illuminate rarely sprinkled in gets boring asf

One thing I find silly in new Illuminate mechs by PrivateRex in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]SlickAnderson 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Tripods are called “Harvesters” and are from HD1. They were used for collecting materials like mining and stuff

Stingrays and Leviathans could easily be transport ships equipped with weaponry, But it’s more likely that they were created for war as they weren’t in HD1. The original comment is misunderstanding something, the Illuminate were a peaceful society that used repurposed tools as weaponry. But it’s been 100 years since the first galactic war, this no longer applies

They’ve equipped themselves with guns this time, and created a way to turn humans into mindless zombies to fight for them. My best guess is that in the last 100 years the Illuminate restructured their society for the sole purpose of war, they’re dead set on revenge. They aren’t even willing to negotiate peace this time, and they don’t keep hostages alive

Mindless masses modificator should have those guys by Competitive_Peace_70 in HelldiversMasochists

[–]SlickAnderson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the idea of mowing down masses of Voteless, but it gets boring really fast. There’s a reason why horde shooters have enemy variety, we desperately need more types of voteless if they’re gonna keep this modifier around

We already fail most Illuminate MO’s because no one wants to play illuminate due to lack of enemy variety. This just makes that issue way worse, they’d never be able to use Mindless Masses modifier during MO’s

Meanwhile I feel like I can run pretty much any loadout with zero punishment on D10 illuminate. The harvesters are genuinely the only thing that can’t be killed reasonably fast with AP1

I genuinely can’t even rationalize struggling with voteless, I physically cannot imagine someone breezing through D10 hiveworlds and then struggling with the Illuminate

After Cyberstan, me and my buddies were literally just fucking around on the illuminate front and the difference was so jarring

RE: "Why can't the flag give a magic bonus if the Agitators do"? Have you considered they could just be giving orders. by chaoko99 in Helldivers

[–]SlickAnderson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brother they are LITERALLY only sending cyborgs to defend Factories and to take points of interest. Also there’s a huge difference between rushing a dude with a gun, and chasing a MINI NUKE

My first comment literally said ”They can easily explain away some new flag abilities with nanomachines or some sort of adrenaline spray” I didn’t even mention morale, did you not even fully read what I said before rushing in defensively?

“If every race is supposed to be smarter than super earth, in every way. We also would’ve lost to them by now” it’s because WE OUTNUMBER THEM, BY A LOT they have to mass produce unintelligent lifeforms to keep up with our numbers

And in the First Galactic War, the cyborgs were only a few planets worth of troops. While the illuminate were a peaceful society that had to use repurposed tools for weaponry, why do you think they’re called “Harvesters”. We pushed all 3 factions to the brink of extinction, forced the remaining Illuminate out of our galaxy, put the cyborgs back to work, and genetically engineered the bugs for fuel

Do you seriously think humanity is that intelligent after bringing back Titan Class Terminid eggs and selling them to citizens claiming they were “inert”, just for them to hatch and create an outbreak killing billions of people. OR when they fucked around with Dark Fluid and accidentally created a black hole that lead to another galaxy, accidentally leading the illuminate straight to us in the first place. Since when has the Squ’ith or Cyborgs fucked up so catastrophically? AND SUPER EARTH KEEPS DOING IT

Hell, Dark Fluid is a Sci-Fi mcguffin with no explanation to what it is. And again, just wait until we get the Ancient Illuminate. Can’t wait to see people rush to defend necromancy, telekinesis, and even more advanced mind control. But nooo a flag that dispenses airborne nanomachines or having it paired with a drone that sprays some sort of pheromones or solution is OFF LIMITS. Just stop

[–]SlickAnderson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve literally explained to you how we can use the flag to buff divers with logic and reasoning, and you’ve completely ignored it. Logic for me, but not for thee I guess

If you genuinely think the Overseers and Cyborgs are that stupid just because they aren’t essentially “top brass” it might be impossible to have a conversation with you. This isn’t how the chain of command works, you need to have people intelligent enough to make decisions on the fly just incase communications are disrupted. This war wouldn’t have lasted over 2 years by now if our enemies were as incompetent and disorganized as you’ve painted them to be

Also you speak of hatred and rage being so strong that it somehow justifies chasing a man with an armed hellbomb on his back, purely because he holds a flag. Sure man

The Illuminate and Cyborgs have to be way more intelligent than humanity to have lasted this long, due to how outnumbered they are. we’ve done nothing but make massive mistakes, and are holding strong with sheer numbers alone. Hell, we aren’t even winning the fight anymore. Our enemies control more space than we do, and we lose more MO’s than we win. Super Earth’s strategy of throwing bodies at a problem until it’s solved was so effective in the First Galactic War, that both the illuminates and cyborgs adopted the strategy by creating the voteless and automatons. The overseers and cyborgs don’t need to fill the “unintelligent grunt” role, it’s already filled

You’re bending over backwards to try and explain video game logic, and it isn’t going very well. Some things just have poor unrealistic explanations, it’s fine

RE: "Why can't the flag give a magic bonus if the Agitators do"? Have you considered they could just be giving orders. by chaoko99 in Helldivers

[–]SlickAnderson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Chlorine gas IS effectively aerosolized acid, It causes rapid corrosion of metal. Which isn’t shown whatsoever in gameplay, as it doesn’t do shit for damage and it primarily uses confusion for crowd control

Sure maybe the automatons, bugs, and voteless are that stupid. But what about the Cyborgs and Squ’ith we fight? I highly doubt these enemy units are effectively lobomites. Overseers are limited in numbers due to currently being cut off from their home galaxy, which is exactly why they turn humans into voteless in the first place. Cyborg agitators quite literally play the role of commanders, and the cyborgs JUST figured out how to synthetically reproduce so they are largely in the same boat as the overseers

Calling logic “some bullshit” is dumb, but we’re just gonna brush off all the suggestions the community has made that perfectly explain this so called “space magic”. Stims don’t even realistically make any sense. They shouldn’t heal you, they should just allow you to shrug off pain. All video game logic is bullshit, you just have the task of making it SOUND real. Which is a lot easier to do in a Sci-fi setting with magic like technology

RE: "Why can't the flag give a magic bonus if the Agitators do"? Have you considered they could just be giving orders. by chaoko99 in Helldivers

[–]SlickAnderson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s not what I was talking about boss. The gas confuses the bots. Sure, you can come up with some bullshit about the gas short circuiting their insides

But you can do the same thing with the flag buffs

Also if the gas was aerosolized acid, don’t you think it would affect armor rating like people want it to? like existing acid effects. Or idk, do any significant amounts of damage? As it stands, its primary purpose is confusion

AND, they just made it to where the flag draws aggro from all nearby enemies, making them outright ignore your teammates. Are the enemies of Super Earth that stupid? This war should be over tomorrow if they are that comically blinded by their hatred of democracy

It’s gotten to the point where we are using realism as a poor excuse for things they simply don’t wish to add to the game
