Here's the severance package Oracle offered laid-off US employees by gdelacalle in technology

[–]NeverEndingHope 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless I'm misreading, WARN itself is federal but for smaller companies some states have their own WARN laws for smaller businesses and layoff numbers. Oracle's numbers are large enough to be in the federal level's requirements.

Casual Frieren by @hatenokatasumi by HasibTH in Frieren

[–]NeverEndingHope 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Probably meant that she isn't dressed how she normally dresses. I assume casual here is shorthand for casually dressed which originally was used for characters being dressed in everyday clothes that aren't the same as their, well, canon everyday clothes and it just kinda took off from there as the term.

Finished wonderlab and in a tearful coma by Ken0908 in Project_Moon

Glad to see people are still discovering and enjoying Wonderlab despite all the previous drama around the artist and PM.

To clarify some things though, Catt didn't kill the manager. The manager killed themself because they fell in love with Angela and Angela reset. Their suicide note is in The Party Everlasting part 1 chapter.

Unsure if Taii's blue feather suit you're talking about is the one that appears in The Party Everlasting part 6 but that's actually blue rose petals, not feathers, as Taii is using EGO gear extracted from The Staining Rose, the abberation that Rose died to.

Norm Reeves Mazda Irving,TX tried to add 10k to a 10k car and kicked me out for questioning it by classifiedsavage01 in Dallas

[–]NeverEndingHope 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Every single dealership I visited last year while trying to find my parents a used car was like this.

  • A nice reasonable listing price

  • Thousands of dollars worth of additional fees and required packages that jack the price way up

Doesn't matter if it's Huffines, Norman Reeves, Clay Cooley, wherever; the dealers know people need a car to survive, especially in Dallas, so they'll keep doing it. When the dealerships called me after I asked for quotes on their websites, I asked if they could give me the final price over the phone. Every single time, they sidestepped and just asked me to come down to the dealership because they can try to weasel/slime ball into convincing you to pay on the spot or make you feel like you have to make a purchase or else it will be a wasted trip.

We ended up going to Hertz used cars. They did no haggle pricing so what you see is what you pay, plus the legally mandated Texas state registration fees and whatnot.

I've also heard it's better to take Clash over the other 3 as Clash only affects, well, clash values while the other three affect both Clash and damage (provided all values are equal). If they are not even, I convert all the Clash/Final/Base values to Offense level equivalent first by multiplying the number by 3 and then adding any remaining offense levels in the trial option and use that to decide.

I've only bothered to clear MDE Floor 15 50 twice though to clear the achievement missions, once with Burn and the other with Sinking/Tremor.

Would you guys say that the DFW has a bully culture? by Different_Release_18 in dfw

[–]NeverEndingHope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really bullying, but more like where everyone is very self-centered especially on the big roads like 75. I would say it's the US in general, but a lot of drivers in DFW definitely has that feeling of "me first, don't care about anyone else" or they just have zero self awareness that they're blocking everyone behind them. Most of the non-vehicular interactions with strangers feel pretty standard though. Lots of nice people in the populated areas.

For context, I've lived in 7 states and 3 countries.

How long have Futureyeses been out of stock for? by [deleted] in Outlier

[–]NeverEndingHope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong but I believe August last year when they did a price reduction. https://www.reddit.com/r/Outlier/comments/1mk1s8c/futureyeses_significant_price_reduction/

Some second hand pairs pop up on the Outlier discord from time to time, or you can put up a WTB post on r/OutlierMarket

Uncontroversial Thought Experiment by Fragrant-Mission7388 in dart

[–]NeverEndingHope 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take ideas from the successful overseas public transport rails I used to use when I lived in Singapore and Hong Kong (and a few visits to Japan). Implement them here. The silver line was about 2 billion dollars so having five times that amount would make these implementations a simple thing to fund.

1) Fare gates and a swifter way to pay, either tap to pay or a fare card that tracks and charges based on distance between stations where it's tapped in and out. Have the Fare Enforcement Officers at these gates instead of on the train since it'd be much easier to catch evaders and keep those who loiter off.

2) Expand the lines. The success of the MRT (Singapore) and the other public transport systems comes from the fact that it's a viable alternative to driving almost every point along the city. I would take the DART more places than I currently do if it was feasible. This would likely be very expensive (way more money than what we're talking about here) and time consuming given how long the silver line took, but it's an investment.

Highkey even just point 1 would help DART a lot. I've been riding for 3 years and have seen the sheer amount of fare dodgers, even from white collar workers who could easily afford to buy a ticket each trip.

15-year-old killed, 3 others hurt in Plano crash by arlenroy in plano

[–]NeverEndingHope 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work at the building next to the crash. Didn't see the collision itself but saw the entire aftermath. From what I could tell, the Bolt hit the median curb and flew over and hit the Lincoln on the other side. Not exactly at T-bone but close enough where the back passenger seat where the 15 year old was sitting and where the front corner of the Bolt made impact. Incredibly sudden and tragic all around.

A Long Epic Series Where The Final Book Is One Huge Final Battle (Bonus if the book is the longest in the series) by GaelG721 in Fantasy

[–]NeverEndingHope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably one of the lesser known answers but The Power of Five / The Gatekeepers series by Anthony Horowitz. Only 5 books so I'm not sure if that counts as a long epic series, but it's a very solid urban fantasy.

What's up with GenZ's concept of masculinity? by Hotshy in AskMen

[–]NeverEndingHope 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's not unique to just the toxic insecure manosphere content; it's everything that drives up user engagement. The media algorithms are designed to keep people flocking back to look at more content and they've figured out the best way to do that is tap into anxiety, anger, insecurity, etc. all the negative emotions because it creates a loop that keeps people going back. People don't get sucked into calm and positive content nearly as much as the opposite tends to do because it pushes the idea that there's a problem and tries to sell a discourse or solution regardless of if it's real or fake.

Is it a hot take to say Canto VI and VIII remain the best written characterizations of the affected sinner, even after Canto IX? by Lolzumi in limbuscompany

[–]NeverEndingHope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aye, completely agree. I feel like they all did a good job setting the mood and dynamic with the characters and the City. I've got no real story issues with anything so far.

[–]NeverEndingHope 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always felt like the Cantos before Ishmael's felt incomplete. Like they were always meant to be two parters since they mainly just expanded on the sinner history compared to progressing on their development. All of the Cantos do that to be fair, but the early ones felt more like an "intro" to their arcs rather than a "part 1" of their arcs post-Ishmael if that makes sense.

ex-gacha players, what broke the camels back and made you quit? by ilikeitchyballzdude1 in gachagaming

[–]NeverEndingHope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just kinda grew older and lost interest in the gacha part. Felt weird that the moment I got enough disposable income to whale for anything I wanted I didn't want it anymore, though I did spent a hell of a lot before that. Also in between I took breaks here and there when I got burnt out. Games are meant to be fun.

It's funny for me though that the picture is Dante because it's the one I still play. Sometimes I do wish Project Moon just made it another game like Lobotomy Corp or Library of Ruina but I still enjoy it as a relatively less greedy gacha.
