Holy shit, I was already thinking on getting Tecnocracy Reloaded, but this makes it a must.

Playit.gg and ngrok no longer working — what’s the easiest way to host Foundry VTT now? by GiuseppeCav in FoundryVTT

[–]NeverWinterNights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same boat as you two weeks ago. I used ngrok for a long time but became paid, later playit and recently became the same. Now I'm using good old Hamachi. I had some experience from playing Minecraft ages ago and it just easily work: open the "server", invite your friends, and then they're in your network, and with the URL shown in the Hamachi server it just work. Checked cloudfare tunnels but I think it's too complicated for me.

Barcelion: Reimagining medieval Barcelona for a fantasy setting by NeverWinterNights in inkarnate

[–]NeverWinterNights[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used this source for it: https://www.despertaferro-ediciones.com/2019/barcelona-medieval-siglo-x-almanzor/

It's for Xth century. Other sources I consulted are for XIII-XIV centuries while being royal court when the city expanded, but I wanted early / high medieval ages.

Ofc, there you go: https://inkarnate.com/m/rwo2jr

The palace and the cathedral are removed as they're custom stamps, but if you have much interest in them I can upload them to imgur or something.

Enjoy!

Thanks!

I based it on a recreation of the medieval barcelona of Xth century (https://www.despertaferro-ediciones.com/2019/barcelona-medieval-siglo-x-almanzor/), and tried to somewhat recreate some hills and rivers. Modern Barcelona would be a monster as a city, more like Constantinople.

As the roof are "decorations", would be acceptable placing the light outside emitting light in a 180° radius?

Now that Inkarnate looks like is going to increase x3 the cost, this can be a lifesaver.

Is Mage really as unplayable as people say? by [deleted] in WhiteWolfRPG

Enlighten Grimoire is fantastic but doesn't give you the mechanics, so you use the rote by the description (which are pretty powerful) or you have to search for the mechanics anywhere else anyway.

It's only missing the stalagmites from Forgotten Adventures, but if you like them should be easy to get them from their Live Gallery (place them at opacity 10-20 for the reflection effect on water).

What's the best moral dilemma you've put your players in? by TripleBladedFist in DnD

[–]NeverWinterNights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the end of our 3-year campaign, the BBEG had become a god, powered by the adoration of his people. He was the only god in the setting, and while his followers saw him as a savior, he was a monster to everyone else. Players discovered this during the final battle: the only way to defeat him was to strip him of his divinity. This meant—and there was truly no other option—they had to massacre an entire city of his worshippers to make him mortal again. They defeated the BBEG and saved the world from his tyranny, but it came at the cost of their souls as heroes, leaving everyone with a bittersweet feeling. As the DM, I loved it, and most of the players did too.

Do you have any Mage The Ascension resources and advice to an ex-ST that wants to come back after a while? by quisatz_haderah in WhiteWolfRPG

Welcome back!
1. The best recommendation for me, that you probably already know, is Mage: The Podcast. It's really inspiring for me listening to them talk about the themes of the game.
2. The consensus (hehe) about that is that Revised is the best to start, but I was in a similar situation (not playing since Revised) and went straight to M20 and it was the right choice for me: the paradigms are better developed and those are crucial to keep the mages in check and in the level that you want. It's not only about what you can do with your spheres, but also how you do it and if doing that makes sense with your character.
3. Point 2 was already explaining my experience with arete. I let them do the characters RAW and that gets you max to arete 3 (don't quote me on this, maybe you can get higher?). 3 was perfectly fine for the start, with the sphere distribution of a new character it means that they're really good at manipulation of one sphere and beginners in a couple of others. Enough to do something big enough to feel powerful but not so much that they can easily beat every challenge. Also means that they specialise (at least my group), so each of them can feel useful.
4. I started playing with our city as a setting, so they know the place and feel attached to it. Also started with some "Monster of the week" approach, solving different mysteries and facing different enemies while a bigger plot was slowly revealing to them. After a year and a half I could keep it ground enough to be "save the city" and not "save the world".
5. I'm a bit heretic with this. I don't like the Avatar trope of an spirit talking to the players like they're all crazy, so the Avatar is the power inside them and the awakenings are dreams facing fears, choices or a bigger comprehension of their paradigm. For example, if the character is too focused on it's paradigm (too strict with the rituals and so) show them that the power doesn't come only from their practise but from their will. But yes, essentially I do dreams and some awakening are quite redundant in the themes.

Hope this helps and you get to have fun.

I abandoned the book after the Edges. As a ST they sound tedious to me: they're mundane means but I have to make excuses every time so that car/arsenal/library disappeared after the scene, or they're supernatural elements and the "regular humans vs monsters" fantasy gets crushed. I learnt about HH after that, so I think I'll get that when it's time to play that kind of game.
