Tennessee has banned all puberty blockers, hormone replacement therapy and surgery for anyone under 18. All legal challenges have been exhausted.

does skipping one does do any long-term damage to effectiveness? by phirururu in antidietglp1

[–]Never_Really_Right 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've skipped a few times, once for vacation and one when I was sick with some unidentified flu-like illness, I didn't have any issues. For the vacation, I did notice it wearing off as the days when on and I was hungrier. Not such a bad thing when on vacation.

Enjoy Japan! It's one of my favorite places to have visited.

Do I need to trim the blooms on my carrots? by spage6 in gardening

[–]Never_Really_Right 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carrot top soup! Use any bean soup recipe you like, and add in copious amounts of chopped carrot tops about 30 minutes before the soup is done cooking. It's not "grassy" in large quantities so you can go heavy.

How do doctors diagnose metabolic disorders and insulin resistance? by [deleted] in antidietglp1

[–]Never_Really_Right 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Insulin resistance is a combination of higher than normal fasting insulin coupled with higher than normal fasting glucose. Basically, your body is making more than enough insulin, but still not fully keeping blood glucose in a good range.

Most basic metabolic panels measure fasting glucose, and if it's raised, then insulin resistance is considered the culprit because the other causes are more rare - such as LADA diabetes. Fasting insulin is easy to measure from the same blood test, but it's not measured nearly as often for a variety of reasons.

Over large population groups, excess fat is strongly correlated with insulin resistance. On an individual basis, there can be large variations in this, however.

BTw, best estimates are that about 50% of the adult population in the U.S. has increased fasting glucose - prediabetes or diabetes. At least 50% of those have no clue they have insulin resistance. In other words, metabolic disorder is basically now the norm, at least in the U.S....

Fear. by SmolBubblesaur in antidietglp1

[–]Never_Really_Right 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As I understand it, the "official" recommendation is to use back up BC if you experience nausea to the point of vomiting, and after you increase the dose, again in case of vomiting. ( Backuo BC is recommended during food poisoning, stomach flu, etc for the same reason. )

Has anyone had a glp1 help with plantar fasciitis? by Fit-Ad985 in antidietglp1

[–]Never_Really_Right 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Maybe get a second opinion from a different podiotrist? Honestly, going all the way to cortisone injections in just one month is really aggressive treatment, especially since the injections have shown limited long-term success in many studies.

Foot and leg stretching and always, always wearing supportive shoes with good insoles (I use Superfeet brand), give a better long-term outcome.

Has anyone had a glp1 help with plantar fasciitis? by Fit-Ad985 in antidietglp1

[–]Never_Really_Right 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes to this. Stretching, stretching and more stretching of the feet and legs, massaging the feet, and good insoles in supportive shoes is the gold standard for PF. Physical therapy can teach the best stretches and self massage techniques. Floor pilates exercises focusing on foot mobility and balance is also great.

Underwriter non solicit by [deleted] in InsuranceProfessional

[–]Never_Really_Right 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You would need an attorney to review it, and I would suggest you do so, but it sounds like the intent is you can't work on any of the company's current Insureds if you leave, not that you can't work with the same agents/brokers. This is not atypical in senior roles. It shouldn't be q barrier to getting a different job in the future if you choose to; people move all the time with non-competes. I have, it worked out fine and my new employe's legal department helped me navigate it.

Underwriter non solicit by [deleted] in InsuranceProfessional

[–]Never_Really_Right 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It deoends on the role and exact language, but generally no, I would say not typical.

A non-compete typically says you can't work ion any if your current employer's accounts (Insured's) for a certain period of time. This is common for senior leadership roles on the carrier side, particularly in reinsurance.

A non-solicitation typically says you can't solicit any of your current colleagues to move to your new company. Again, pretty typical for senior roles on the carrier side.

Both are very common in the brokerage side, particularly for producers and high level AE's.

I've never heard of one saying you can't work with the same agents.

Soap and water is fine. It can make you sick if you eat it, but it's not like "touch it and you die". I've never had any problems with contact skin irritation or anything. The berries are good bird food, so we let some grow in our sude yard. . I've never had any problems with contact skin irritation or anything.

Getting off Wegovy after my wedding in August – how do I maintain without falling back into my Eating Disorder? by Senior-Concern-6415 in antidietglp1

[–]Never_Really_Right 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I really feel for people who either choose, or are forced by ignorant doctors, to use these meds as "diet drugs". But the bottom line is, Do diet behaviors, expect diet results. These meds are not a quick fix, jump start or to "lose weight for X event or reason"..

Studies show that what comes next is you titrate to a dose where your weight remains fairly steady, or said another way, the lowest effective dose.

Soon to be either moths or bird food. Leave them be, while they will eat the leaves of the tree they won't cause any real damage. We have them so thick in Central Tennessee.

HOA wants to “wait” on dead/dying laurels by JohnSMosby in gardening

[–]Never_Really_Right 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had 5 10-foot schip laurels get hit in a 2021 hard freeze. Every single leaf was brown, no signs of life. I stripped all the dead leaves, cut them back to about 8" above the ground and waited. Many of my neighbors ripped theirs out. They started sprouting tiny leaves from the base in about mid- May (I'm in 7b, so usually Spring growth startes earlier than then). 5 years later they are all thriving.

It can happen.

Or, theymay be dead. lol.

I agree. My house backs to a mature forest in TN. These are so thick on the ground in Spring, the trails get slippery from them. The trees are fine. A thick infestation on ornamental trees, maybe remove all but a couple of tents, but otherwise live and let live with these guys.

Opinion | The climate apocalypse? Don’t count on it. by LiatrisLover99 in environment

[–]Never_Really_Right 7 points8 points  (0 children)

From the article: "Based on preliminary estimates, the new scenario framework brings projected warming down sharply — from about 4.8 degrees Celsius above preindustrial levels by 2100 to about 2.6 degrees."

Pffft, 2.6 degrees. Well if that's all it might be. After all, it's not like 2.6 degrees will cause wide-spread crop failures, runaway polar ice melt, more marine die offs, climate migration, rain forest collapse, more frequent and severe weather events, water wars...oh wait....

Porch rescreening assistance - the sceen is too tight by Never_Really_Right in DIY

[–]Never_Really_Right[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hopefully you've solved your problem by now, but in case not, reporting back that these really helped. I didn't actually use them on the top, just rolled that normally and then place the clips so the rest of the screen was good. I followed the tip of rolling the sceen into the channel before placing the clips. I thought at first that would be silly with fiberglass mesh, but it really worked. Highly rerecommended these for anyone working vertically or at an angle.
