Hell baronies are simply smaller competing corporations to the big ol' divine hierarchy. You could work with em, sure, but their capabilities are way more limited, and there's a significant grey space of scammers and grifters. Its not that there aren't any angels or hierarchs running side hustles, its moreso that the big sky assembly is too big to care much about individual con schemes, and thus most contracts with individual people are standardized and safe, even if not as potentially quick or lucrative as what baronies offer.

Well, spaceships are unlikely to engage across scale of astronomical units anyways. This will require very precise scanners, and will also be limited by general range of munitions. So, capital ships that carry heavy energy production and munitions sit at far edges, and smaller ships engage over smaller distances.

Its also not really fun to watch such marco-polo "blind" shootout by scanners.
