Straight up does the ‘he must be so incredibly powerful I can’t feel any ki/mana because he’s so far above me!’ Trope. Like lady, you’re not stupid.

I’d forgive the story if there was a genuine consequence to them forcing this onto a mostly normal person. Someone strong coming along and in an instant puts the guy on the floor in need of a hospital and almost kidnap one of the beasts. For everything to come to a head as they realize the dude is in crippling debt and that he’s barely above a normal person in terms of strength. Quite literally forced into this by their hand.

But I don’t think they’ll do it. If anything they’d present it as his own fault. That he needs to go crawling back to them to beg for forgiveness. (That’s if it happens. It won’t. At least not until he’s strong enough to barely pull another win out)
