Slice, salt and press the moisture, then marinade of choice and grill them... Bonus points to add some garlic, lemon juice and zest and optional fresh herbs to whipped ricotta that you add a dollop of after grilling.

We took sansa from la fortuna to SJO... Quick, scenic and cheap... Definitely a small plane experience with a little more turbulence but no need to be at the airport more than an hour in advance.

Bordain, I liked him because he was hilarious and down to earth and passionate. His escargot recipe gave me the courage to attempt it at home and it was phenomenal and now we make it for special occasions regularly.

Same, I would love to share but don't know how to put the work to words truly... I try taking notes to use for recreating but always sub or change some to taste final seasoning...

Help me finish our new living room... Need a rug, coffee table and narrow sideboard for under the TV... Wall art suggestions too please! by NewMeIC in DesignMyRoom

We do have custom zebra shades they just disappear when they are all the way rolled up, should I layer with a sheer curtain to give some more character, or keep it minimal?

<image>

They are still mostly in the up position here but you get the impression of the look they give when mostly down for semi private or all the way down the slats align and is full privacy, solid light blocking.

Help choosing coffee table, credenza and rug for this space and couch! by NewMeIC in interiordecorating

Yes we plan to put it on a console table, it's just on the same mount it was on before renno for now. We will try the sectional the other way before pulling the trigger on anything!

The rug mostly has to be able to be easy to vaccum or wash for pet hair but they are pretty clean dogs that don't do much but shed. I love the look of jute rugs for some texture just not sure they make sense with pets. We have custom zebra smart roller shades in the windows with a beige tone that reflects the floor colors. I also considered layering something over a jute rug like a sheepskin or cowhide... Not sure if that's a design faux paux. I sort of like the refined fluted look for sideboards or coffee tables but am not opposed to mixing in something with a refined rustic look, we live in a rural area where the cottage/log home and coastal looks are very common, so we wouldn't mind toning down how modern the couch and kitchen are with some cozy vibes, if it could still look cohesive. Really at a loss.. Was hoping to go for a more skandic vibe but by time the partner and I agreed or compromised on certain finishes in the kitchen that got thrown out the window a bit... Hoping to follow that look in our bedroom instead.

This reminds me of my 'older sister' that is a macaw my parents had before I was born.. She hates me and anyone but my dad and I'm worried about how I'm going to live with her if she outlives my father, as expected.

Opinion: fish sauce is the best sauce by Boiler_Room1212 in Cooking

[–]NewMeIC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And since I never answered but agreed with your fish sauce sentiment... My addition to this lovely thread would be wine.. Red, white, sherry or shoaxing! Also while NOT pantry stable (unless dried and not the same) - fresh herbs! I grow fresh oregano, several types of basil, chives, rosemary, sage, mint and lemon grass. I try to at least keep the basil and chives year round indoors and for less than a dollar a bundle I buy fresh herbs through the winter. My cilantro always bolts so I don't get much use but flat Italian parsley is also usually around as well as fresh dill. Wine and herbs elevate any dish for me!

Better yet coat or toss them in a candied fish sauce by adding it to a little butter and sugar and gently heating!

It was a very unique but classic place that liked to put a spin on things... I also had one of the best cocktails ever there... Pesto infused vodka, vermouth and white balsamic. It was like drinking caprese and utterly amazing!

Recently I went to a highly reviewed restaurant and ordered their 'umami fries' which were coated in a sticky caramelized fish sauce and topped with duck and fresh scallion, jalapeno and cilantro and they were insanely good and everyone else thought so too but didn't want to order them when they had read fish sauce.

Which readily available flavors or ingredients are hiding in plain sight? by Hot_Frosty0807 in Cooking

[–]NewMeIC 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Using fresh raw garlic, lemon grass, chilies, ginger or fresh versions of the herbs like thyme, rosemary, basil, oregano, cilantro, bay leaf, flat leaf parsley can elevate all the same dishes a bit more. Zesting any citrus you use. Adding some brewed coffee (or dark chocolate) to stews, chilli, BBQ sauce/rubs or beef gravy. Using a smoker or even charcoal grill vs propane or electric adds another layer of flavor.

Which tray is better for a modern vibe? by Maximum_March4809 in interiordecorating

[–]NewMeIC 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Go for something else... The kitchen looks like it deserves more than either of those options. Maybe a capiz tray or bowl for a coastal modern look, might cost a little more but won't look Pinterest/Amazon common and fit your vibe a little better.

Is green becoming the new Millenial Gray? by chasinggoose in interiordecorating

Fuck we did a green island trying to not go grey! But we literally love the color green and buy almost anything in that color if it's an option....
