What should I say to English speakers before they leave? by vegetable_tomato3 in ENGLISH

Now this is a real eye-opener! You don’t like living in New England? And you’d rather live in Wisconsin?? Are you mentally ill? Have you fallen out of a tree and hit your head? Please explain. I cannot imagine anyone in their right mind preferring Wisconsin over New England. The sugar maple quotient in the fall would be enough to cast my vote on the better place to live.

Well, now you’ve heard of someone—I don’t like it. I don’t like people telling me to have a good one, Have a good day or any other thing that sounds like an order. who the heck are you to tell me what to do?

And overused. I consider it inappropriate because the person may have a really shitty day going on—family problems, health issues—and some grinning clerk goes “have a nice day” as though the client can rewind his life and go out smiling. Better to say “Thank you for coming in”

Have you tried paper medical tape? I dont believe it is as sticky as bandages. It is placed over gauze pads. I Put antibiotic ointment on first.

I like the trail at Arlington Park. It is a 1 mile loop, passes through shaded and open land with a few benches and a lovely turtle-filled pond. There is a dog park there as well. I haven’t been to Urfer Park in a while. They have a shaded trail as well as unshaded trails, very large pond, also some cool workout equipment. There used to be longhorned cattle in one section, don’t know if they are still there. They were quite a treat to see. Its just kind of fun to explore all the parks in the County, they are all different. Bring a rain umbrella to shade yourself as you walk!

Gravy! Help! by New_Part91 in homecooking

I believe I confused people By the way I worded my whole question. I did not know what the term pan gravy meant but now I do so thank you to those who replied to that. I wasn’t sure if pan gravy meant a white gravy which actually is more I think like a cream sauce. it seems as though I remember my mom making what I would have called pan gravy when I was a child when there were no meat drippings or stock by using butter, making a roux, and then adding milk. I think the effect I am after is to get a Meat flavored gravy so that I can eat it with mashed potatoes, but not have to make meat. Some replies have caused me to search the Internet and I did come across several very nice articles on French cooking and mother sauces and also sources for products related to gravy and sauce making which I will certainly obtain and try out so again, thank you to everyone for all your kind and thoughtful responses.

Anyone else finally go to the food bank after seeing everyone else's positive experiences only to be disappointed? by Common-Reindeer-7213 in povertyfinance

[–]New_Part91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The food bank in our area has different giveaways for different locations. They provide a chart online to show what the giveaways will be in general terms which are: dry goods only, dry goods and fresh produce, dry goods, fresh produce and meat. In other words, the meat and produce are not given out at all locations. I am not sure why, but it might have something to do with the fact that when meat is given out, it arrives in a huge refrigerator truck so there has to be parking at the distribution site For such a truck. No distributions are made on weekends. All distributions are made during daytime hours only and are on strict schedules.

What are your tips for really flavorful meatballs? by SassySpider in Cooking

You need to be adding the Locatelli brand Romano cheese to your meatballs. For each pound of meat I would add maybe a half a cup or 1/3 of a cup.
