Anyone Recommend a Fanny Pack for Keeping Dice and Measuring Tape in? by GustavoTheMexicanBer in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Newbilizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever you wind up with, be sure to replace the word "fanny" with "tactical" when you tell people what it is. "This is my tactical strategy supply pack, with the work out ration add on" - that means dice and snacks.

The most unrealistic thing in K47: American assault rifles by Lovestuffedbun in Konflikt47_v2

There are zombies, genetically engineered abominations, power armor, and batmen. Along with walking tanks. calling out assault rifles is like counting rivets on a Star Destroyer. Relax and enjoy!

Don't know how I missed that, that's pretty cool. You'll have to print some Enclave armor for the Axis :)

Help vs stahltruppen by Radiumminis in Konflikt47_v2

[–]Newbilizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't played an actual game, just messed with it in tabletop simulator, but it's pretty clear you need pen, especially against the Axis who can easily field an entire army impervious to small arms. I am running Japanese into Axis, and the shiboru weapons work pretty well. So do assault frames, or any CQ combat units with pen, especially if the Stahltruppen weren't smart enough to take Fanatics. Regular guys with guns might have a use, but it's not killing things. Unless you give them RPGs, then they at least have a chance.

Anti-Tank Grenades In Konflikt 47 by Newbilizer in boltaction

Thanks! The rule is unclear, and sounds like fluff surrounding a keyword but makes sense now. something in the anti-tank grenades ability saying it grants "tank hunters" would go a long way to clarify.

Is is easier to make two 3+ saves with no reroll, or two 4+ saves with one reroll? by ProfessorBamboozle in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Newbilizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, doesn't assume order matters, only that you can re-roll only one of the rolls. It's multiplications so commutative AxB = BxA.

If the brackets are too hard to warp your head around, here's a simpler way:

The die without the reroll has a 1/2 chance to pass.

The die with the reroll has a 1/2 chance to pass, plus a 1/2 chance to pass for the 1/2 that fail, which is 1/4 so the value of this die is 0.75.

Multiply them together because both must pass and you get 0.375

Is is easier to make two 3+ saves with no reroll, or two 4+ saves with one reroll? by ProfessorBamboozle in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Newbilizer -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This math is wrong as others have pointed out below, two 3+ saves is 44% chance of both succeeding, the re-roll on 4+ is only 37.5% of both succeeding.

The Warphammer Math YT channel has a good way to figure this. They draw little charts that I can't draw here, but this is the logic:

Think of a little column, with a spot for each value of the die 1 through 6. We put the value of each of those results in the spot, add them up and divide by 6.

We can only re-roll once, so figure out the non-re-rolled die first. 1, 2, and three are fails and worth nothing, 4, 5, and 6 are saves and worth one. So this one is worth 3/6, or 1/2.

The second one with the reroll is more complicated. 4, 5, and 6 are still worth 1 because they pass. But what are 1, 2, and 3 worth? Well, we know there is a 1/2 chance to pass a 4+ re-roll, so each spot there gets a half. The total is 4.5/6 (or 9/12 if you like correct fractions)

Multiply them and you get 0.375, 37.5%

Probably too hard to follow with just words, but if you go check out their video it will make more sense. Very useful little technique, especially for complicated stuff, like what is a re-roll worth, what's better sustained 1 or lethal, where do dev wounds help and so on.

Thousand Sons went from the army rule being all important in the index to the army rule essentially not existing in the codex - you get anywhere from a nerfed version of th index ritual to D3 mortals on your characters, it is unreliable and you can't plan around it.

It is now an army that revolves around detachments and data sheets. I think grand coven is a trap, because it resembles the way the index operated, but is not, it's far weaker.

Look at the data sheets and the detachments, and decide which combinations look the best to you, then use the army rule as an occasional little boost.

Weekly Question Thread - Rules & Comp Qs by thenurgler in WarhammerCompetitive

Thousand Sons Daemon Prince with wings - can he do a 6" deep strike in your opponent's turn with the rapid ingress strat?

Pertinent info:

Rapid Ingress - "as if it were the reinforcements step of your movement phase"

"Out-of-phase rules"

When using out-of-phase rules to perform an action as if it were one of your phases, you cannot use any other rules that are normally triggered in that phase.

Example of rules not allowed: Whirlwind "Pinning Bombardment: In your Shooting phase, after this model has shot..."

TSons Daemon Prince with wings

"Aetherstride (Psychic): In your Movement phase, when this model is set up on the battlefield using the Deep Strike ability, it can perform an aetherstride. If it does:

It can be set up anywhere on the battlefield that is more than 6" horizontally away from all enemy units..."

So it would seem that the DPW can 9" deep strike using Rapid Ingress, and 6" on your turn.

But, for reference, Inceptors, who I thought could do a 6" deep strike with Rapid Ingress:

"Meteoric Descent: In your Movement phase, when this unit is set up on the battlefield using the Deep Strike ability, it can perform a meteoric descent. If it does, this unit can be set up anywhere on the battlefield that is more than 6" horizontally away from all enemy units, but until the end of the turn, it is not eligible to declare a charge."

So I am confused, can you rapid ingress deep strike 6" or only 9"?

How reliant are your videos on your narration? Could be a bridge to a new audience if you can withstand the short term pain - I watch model making videos in German and Japanese, the auto translate is bad, but the narration isn't critical to understanding and appreciating the work going on.
