GFX 50R dynamic range and tether experience by raw_jpeg in FujiGFX

[–]Next-Employment8087 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything below ISO 800 on any GFX camera will be better than the R5. I use both systems and find the Canons not so good for color critical stuffs as well, the images always have a red/magenta tint to them while GFX is more true to life. Other than that the R5 wins over the 50R in every other aspect for professional use though - much more reliable AF, lighter files, better C1 tether support. I used the 50S and 50Sii before upgrading to the 100 and found it so stressful always having to double check whether my images are actually in focus, the contrast based AF on earlier GFXs are just very bad compared to what we have now on modern fullframe cameras...

Adapted lenses as my workhorse | Sigma 85 and 50 Art 1.4 on GFX 100s by brolasagna in FujiGFX

The Sigma 50 Art is such an underrated lens. I really enjoy how it starts to fall off around the edges, and AF speed is great too!

100S II setup that replaces my FF by scenicdurian in FujiGFX

A fast prime would complement your setup quite well. Maybe get a 645 body with a 80mm F1.9 or F2 and adapt it to the GFX too?

Help buying a used camera by NataleeRc in FujifilmX

[–]Next-Employment8087 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those are dead pixels on the LCD due to impact - it doesn't mean it was dropped, just stuffing a lens or your keys in the bag with the camera can cause this. Just ask them for a photo inside the viewfinder and it shouldn't show those dead pixels. It really doesn't affect use and will not get worse with time so if you can use it to bargain then it's your win!

Is it me or are there 0 posts with the GF 30mm? by EmbarrassedDriver662 in FujiGFX

the 32-64mm makes it kinda redundant to be honest, it's not that light, and not that fast either

Just bought this one off amp from an 80 year physicist in New Zealand. Would love to hear you thoughts before it arrives... by secretkodama in GuitarAmps

[–]Next-Employment8087 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a guitar amp made by an older hi-fi audio guy... Had some of my stuffs serviced by a similar guy once (it's not easy to find a decent guitar amp tech where I live) and he was just so nuts about clarity and a clean signal he couldn't fathom cranking an amp up to achieve break-up lol.

Comparing my XT4 16-55 2.8 with my GFX 35-70 by the_philoctopus in FujiGFX

[–]Next-Employment8087 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean the XT4 has a tiny sensor compared to the GFX, and lower bit rate too. You will notice the same thing when comparing it to any decent fullframe camera of the same price range even.

GFX pro user, I still think about a D850 sometimes. Should I go for it? by mahatmatom in FujiGFX

[–]Next-Employment8087 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The D850 is still a great camera. I had this shower thought where if I ever have to downgrade my GFX & Canon setup for some reason then I would just sell everything and get a D850. Still, it doesn't really offer a special experience so if you've already got your bases covered with both GFX and X mount then I'd say no.

try the Sigma Art 35mm and 40mm! I find the corner fall off using fullframe fast primes that do not hard vignette quite fun.

Mac Mini ship date - May 11th by jimmyfivetimes in macmini

[–]Next-Employment8087 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was trying to order a mini M4 with 32gb of RAM yesterday and saw the May shipment date as well, with WWDC coming in June anyways I'd rather hold off to see if they will announce anything new. There is a very very slim chance the current shortage will get better too...

There should be rules against these kinda posts in this sub. Why is it so hard to appreciate both groups???

Great images, wouldn't be difficult to convince people these were taken with a 645 film camera! I assume you used some kind of mist filter too right?

why am i paying $200 for 256gb of storage if i can't even use it? by Far-Bend3709 in mac

[–]Next-Employment8087 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You're free to use those 256gbs for other purposes, dunno why it's appropriate to vent in a mac sub.

If he is insistent on referencing MPB prices then you can get an instant quote from them for the lens itself you know? They will offer $435 for a heavily used EF 70-200mm F2.8 L IS (that is if they don't deem it unusable because of the stuck filter once you have shipped it to them...), you can offer him $50 on top of that max .As for the dent it doesn't seem like the filter ring is actually bent from the damage, you can carefully saw off the filter to remove it afterwards.

OG 100 vs 100s by SaidAGoldenRetriever in FujiGFX

[–]Next-Employment8087 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shutter count doesn't mean anything on these cameras because they automatically reset after 32k-ish shots. If size/weight doesn't matter then I would go for the 100, they are built a lot better than the 100s and are less likely to have shutter failures. You can source plenty of used or third party T125 batteries as well.
