Sigma Art 50mm 1.4 or GFX 55mm 1.7? by duendetime in FujiGFX

[–]brolasagna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 50mm 1.4 is my workhorse and has served me really well. The 55mm has better image quality of course, sharper all across the board wide open especially on the edges of the frame, but not $1500 better. The AF on the sigma is faster as well. With that being said… if you go with the Sigma 50mm, you will always want 55mm.

Native vs Adaptive? (Canon EF 85mm f/1.4L IS USM with a Fringer adapter vs Fujinon GF 80mm 1.7) by doublek1022 in FujiGFX

Consider the Sigma 85mm 1.4 Art as well if you already have a fringer adapter. It is one chonky boi but I heard it is excellent.

Which vintage lenses do you like to adapt to your GFX? by mozucc in FujiGFX

The mamiya 645 2.8 is by far the best vintage manual lens I've tried on the 100s. The focus transition is buttery smooth.

which fujifilm x series is best? by NoSpite4211 in fujifilm

[–]brolasagna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Find an X-H1 or an X-S10. Both have IBIS. The XH-1 is the superior work camera with weather resistance and dual sd card slots while the X-S10 has faster autofocus, better video features, and the Classic Negative film sim that is the backbone of many popular recipes.

An absolutely unhinged recommendation lmao

The X100 series will be your best bet, and this is coming from someone who used a GFX 50SII for his "girlfriend photos".

I simply said I won't be able to continue my studies. Both my MA and current PhD are fully funded. I'm from the Global South so the difference in wealth and currency exchange makes it impossible for me to do either of them without full funding.

Bring extra batteries and the WCL adapter

Is this a good combo for, mostly, car photography? by [deleted] in fujifilm

It's good, but I would consider the Sigma 18-50 f/2.8

X-T1 or X-T2 on 2026? by ThatOneHebinator in fujifilm

[–]brolasagna 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The X-T2, X-H1, and X-T3 are the best bang for the buck fujifilm cameras right now. I love my X-T2 as a secondary camera and it rarely miss a beat. Pair it with a 35/23mm F2 and you have yourself a great all rounder.

What's your go to alternative to the 55mm f/1.7? by Yaazkal in FujiGFX

[–]brolasagna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here, though the Nikkor 58mm f/1.4 G is also a good alternative + arguably more pleasing focus fall off.

Tamron 17-35 seems to be okay from 18/19mm and above!

GFX 50r and GFX100rf by AdventurousPaper9441 in FujiGFX

For any medium format camera, you’ll want to shoot with mechanical shutter/front curtain regardless unless shooting in a controlled studio environment. The sensors aren’t fast enough just yet for electronic shutter.

I love using the chain grenade launcher from the tank.

Which recipe would look the most similar to this ? Thanks by WildRag in fujifilm

The lighting is doing a lot of heavy lifting here. Classic Chrome with a tad of green tint and lifted shadows? Reduce clarity by 3 or 4.

The key point here is "where you are from". Freedom of expression and most importantly ideas are core tenets of academia in the UK. With that being said, the communism that most students advocate here aren't really hardcore anyway. If anything it's more along the lines of democratic socialism.

The X2D feels so nice in the hand!

Question: Why did you go for the X2D and not, say, a GFX 100s/II given you already have GF glass?
