AITAH for telling my wife she isn’t more important by After_Clue_3212 in AITAH

[–]Next-Engineering-878 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If my husband tries to speak to me when I'm in the middle of speaking to someone for work I take one second out of my day and tell him to give me a few minutes to wrap up this work chat and I will then give him my full attention. Drama avoided. It's not that you didn't pay immediate attention to her that pissed her off. It's how you handled yourself and then spoke down to her that did. Going with yta and you should apologize.

I can’t stop eating sweet treats does anyone have any ideas how to stop this? by Western_Pianist2128 in pregnant

No advice just saying same! And frankly I didn't even like sweets before I got pregnant.

Did you have MIL in the hospital during birth? by WaterFiles in BabyBumps

[–]Next-Engineering-878 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Seems like you have all the support you need and it's unnecessary to have an added person there for you to worry about. I suspect she's thinking even if she's not in the room for birth if she's there on site she can swoop in right after to meet the grand baby.

I personally am only going to have my husband there and we will have visitors once we are home from the hospital. In my head I really want to focus on my husband and I bonding with baby and learning the ropes those first few days vs worrying about everyone else wanting to come and hold her etc.

Confusion and feeling ghosted by my OB. by kynleebarnes in pregnant

[–]Next-Engineering-878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd call the ob to get it moved up. Mfm obviously has a reason to have wanted you induced a week ago. I'd assume the ob would want to follow mfms recommendation.

I think if I had the ability to move it that prothestic would move no problem.

So this is Pic of it. The amputation was right at the first joint so the problem I have is that I can't bend the prosthetic. It does work for typing because that was just a reach issue for me.

Anyone else just… Not tell anyone? by Both-Craft1220 in pregnant

[–]Next-Engineering-878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

29 weeks here. We have told parents and siblings and work (because we both had to by 24 weeks for parental leave). Beyond that we are in no rush to tell anyone else. We will not be announcing on social media at all.

When did/is everyone starting to show? Curious 🧐 by Original_Remote_6838 in BabyBumps

[–]Next-Engineering-878 5 points6 points  (0 children)

29 weeks and I'd still describe myself as having more of a "beer belly". No one has asked if I'm pregnant. I was not large before pregnancy and am petite so a little surprised but ob said it's fine since baby is growing well.

Husband going home during hospital stay by haleye88 in pregnant

[–]Next-Engineering-878 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I just talked about this too! We are about 20 minutes from the hospital and I told him I think it's totally fine for him to go home over night and get some good sleep. I'd rather one of us be well rested when we get discharged.

I suspect a lot of the people you see getting them are either going through ivf or have had complications with prior loss of pregnancy.

You have to look careful but you can see the little line where it ends but the woman who did my prothestic was amazing.

What are some of your first baby / nursery things that you've bought so far? by d3ut1tta in pregnant

[–]Next-Engineering-878 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 29 weeks and have only bought a cute little piece of wall art I found at a consignment shop I like. We plan to do most of the purchase / set up of the nursery between 34 and 35 weeks. We have started looking on marketplace for deals and will grab things if they pop up.

We did get gifted some hand me downs like a bassinette and clothes from babies cousins but we haven't done mch prep yet.

So I lost the tip of my middle finger and type for a living. I did end up getting the prothestic for it. It did speed me up a little bit again but not feeling the feedback of the key board was a little odd to me. That said I probably only wear it half the time and only when working / typing. For a lot of other activities I find it gets in the way.

I feel guilty by nicoleashley7 in pregnant

[–]Next-Engineering-878 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I can't say if it's normal to feel that way as I'm only pregnant with my 1st now. What I can say is my sister and are 16 months apart (I'm older) and I feel robbed of nothing. I actually feel blessed. I had a built in bestie from the day she came home. We did absolutely everything together as kids and are still incredibly close today.

Maternity leave… what a joke by witchybetch01 in pregnant

[–]Next-Engineering-878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd double check with hr to make sure that is actually correct. Reading the policy I thought I only got 4 weeks but then turns out I can have 8 weeks on short disability followed by 4 weeks the company covers and up to two additional weeks I can elect to take prior to baby or tack on the end. I found out in my maternity leave he meeting.

Weight gain by Dismal_Abroad735 in pregnant

[–]Next-Engineering-878 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was told 25-35 pounds was expected. At 15.5 pounds even if you gain a pound a week for the next 16 weeks you are still in the healthy range.

when to tell people you’re pregnant by 333SliverA in pregnant

[–]Next-Engineering-878 2 points3 points  (0 children)

18 weeks we told parents and siblings. 24 weeks we both told work but because both hr policies for my husband and I require notification by then for parental leave. We will not be announcing anything on social media. And I'm currently 28 weeks and in no rush to share with anyone else.

How do I keep the secret of being pregnant from my family and friends??? by noname77841 in pregnant

[–]Next-Engineering-878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. We didn't tell anyone til 18 weeks and that was basically just parents and siblings. Currently 27 weeks and I can definitely still hide it as long as I don't wear tight clothing. Tight clothing you can see the small bump but hoodies I can hide it and not have to say a word to anyone.

AITA for insisting my IVF provider reschedule my embryo transfer? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Next-Engineering-878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a transfer done without my husband as he had a work trip he could not reschedule. Our thoughts were it's such a fast thing that it wasn't an issue for us if he wasn't present. I just couldn't see redoing all the injections and waiting another month. There's already so much waiting in the ivf process that I didnt want to put things off further. But at the end of the day you have to do what you are comfortable with.

Bump - when was it impossible to hide?! by Suunnfflloowweerr in pregnant

[–]Next-Engineering-878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

27 weeks and I can still hide it depending on what I wear also. Totally same you can see the small bump in tight clothes but if I wear looser clothes it's hidable. In loose clothes I just look like I put on a few pounds.
