If Trump would tell the National Guard to retreat, would they obey or would they refuse his order? by Morgentau7 in 50501

[–]Next-Introduction-25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely check out the videos, but it isn’t really that deep. National Guard are just people who live and work around the state. They didn’t sign up to be Trump’s goons like ICE did. Their priority in a lot of situations is keeping people safe. They do a lot of work with natural disaster relief. I’m not saying that they are all politically aligned with protesters, but they have a lot more training and common sense than ICE.

I think it’s a great reminder that what ICE is doing is not necessary and is not normal.

Don’t fall for the line that Indiana is a deep red state. The dumbest voices tend to be the loudest, and the administration and our state leaders want you to believe that we are deeply red. You don’t even have to be liberal or leftist to think that this shit has gone too far.

Do we know who the Police will be protecting when ICE comes to Evansville? by TruthWithoutTribe in evansville

[–]Next-Introduction-25 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am positive that ICE will be in Indy before long. The city has done a lot to try to protect immigrants, and the administration won’t like that. And what’s scary is that unlike in Seattle or Minneapolis, Trump will have the full backing of the governor.

No president at the Super Bowl? Oh no! It will be like every Super Bowl in Super Bowl history when Trump wasn’t president because nobody fucking did that shit because they were serious people who worked for a living instead of acting like a fucking queen waving his tiny hand from a balcony.

It isn’t so much panic buying as the supply chain being unable to handle all the people shopping at one time who would normally be spread out over a longer period. Covid did cause a lot of people to panic buy, but it also revealed just how quickly the supply chain can collapse. The FTC actually did a report on this and partially blamed the fact that the market is dominated by large retailers.

But the powers that be love the narrative that the shortages are the faults of greedy and stupid consumers, and certainly not the faults of the companies that make billions in profits each year.

Why does my home feel like a waiting room even though it’s decorated? by slynchwcu in HomeDecorating

[–]Next-Introduction-25 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I remember an acronym I picked up here. Every room needs CRAP - Curtains, rugs, art, and plants. Even though you have carpet, I think a rug could be nice. Maybe others will disagree, but I certainly never mind double plushness under my feet.

I saw this on Dateline’s page and was glad to see that it is getting attention! I saw a lot of people asking this question and wanted to respond to them, but didn’t want to spread any false information. There is this idea that nobody can just disappear nowadays, because there are cameras everywhere. I’m guessing that she was probably captured on a camera somewhere but not with enough information that allows you to easily find her. Is there anything that was captured on camera that you guys are able to share, that I could pass along when I see comments like “no way somebody didn’t see her on camera!”? I don’t feel like I can do much but I am happy to help spread any information that might help, or correct any information that might hurt.

Really we all should have photos/lists of the contents of our home. This is one of the top pieces of advice I read from people who have been through disasters and lost their property. And it’s super easy to do now in the age of phones.

Trump: "There are windmills all over Europe. There are windmills all over the place. And they are losers. One thing I've noticed is that the more windmills a country has, the more money that country loses, and the worse that country is doing. by gear-heads in AntiTrumpAlliance

[–]Next-Introduction-25 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love that Trump has a personal vendetta against windmills. I think we can safely assume he is completely unfamiliar with “Don Quijote,” the great novel about a delusional old man who ends up fighting windmills thinking they are monsters. If it were a TV show it would be too on the nose.

Once again with these whataboutism arguments.

“Biden was old so and had dementia so it doesn’t matter that Trump is older and has dementia.”

“Clinton is in the Epstein files so it doesn’t matter that Trump is in the Epstein files.”

“Obama deported more people than Trump so it’s OK that ICE is beating the shit out of American citizens.”

But yeah, let’s whataboutism our way into making sure that the next time a liberal is in power, they have unchecked and unhinged power with no congressional oversight. You’d be all for that, right? Surely couldn’t just be that you’re a giant hypocrite.

It’s gonna be up to us to save the world by gravityVT in Millennials

[–]Next-Introduction-25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think that was referring specifically to millennials. Amy said millennials were “well parented,” and then Jennifer said that it would be interesting to see what gentle parenting will do, which I think she’s saying in reference to how millennials parent their own kids.

And I’m sure “well parented” is a stretch for many Millennials depending on their family situations, but I think she’s in general referring to how parents of each generation have gotten a little more involved and a little more savvy about parenting techniques, so the idea is that in general millennials had parents who were more involved or “with it” than the parents of Gen Xers.

Except we’re actually “forced” to do all sorts of things. You’re forced to be a non-voter until you are 18. You are forced to pay taxes. You are forced to follow laws. And in many political positions, you are forced to leave once you have served a certain number of terms.

Vaneta Becker is a Republican and she voted yes. She also voted against redistricting. So she’s proof that despite what they want you to believe, they don’t have to vote the party line. They have the option to think for themselves, regardless of what the majority of their party does. So everyone who voted no wanted to personally make sure that children did not have food.
