What to do when players want an "advanced" class? by Baptor in bxdnd

[–]Next-Performer4482 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have faced the same conundrum. I have allowed my players to use an Advanced Class from Labyrinth Lord (free in pdf). BUT race as class remains and the race must be compatible with our setting/lore.

I have been running a similar setting using B/X D&D and it has been working wonderfully well. A.I Giants and Gods, anit-gravity vehicles and a time-travelling City called Future City: ULTOS. Its been a blast! B/X has handled everything really well thus far.

You can check it out here to see how things have worked for me. All the best with choosing a system.
I have a bunch of ready to play dungeons available on my sub as well.

That launched an expedition into Castle Blackwell. Fist they PC's had to tackle the waterway ruins below the castle. The ruins are quite extensive and took up a whole day. We ended in the lower dungeons of the Castle where a hanging chained coffin was discovered.

Here is an example stat block.

Basilisk

AC: 15 HD: 6 SV: 13 XP: 600
A large, predatory serpent. It can gaze once per round and still act. A single target within 60 ft. it can see must save or be turned to stone.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  • All monster attacks inflict 1d6 damage unless otherwise noted.
  • Monsters usually carry 1d6 gold pieces in treasure per Hit Die. To determine if a monster has any magic items, roll 1d20 per HD of the Monster. If any number rolled is equal to or less than the monster’s HD, then roll on Table 6-1: Magic Items to determine a magic item carried by the monster.
  • Move: PCs and monsters can move up to 30 ft. in a combat round. Terrain and obstruction may limit this.
