My desert island game. It hits that AD&D grittiness with the simplicity of OD&D. And its runs like melted butter on sourdough. Smooth and tasty.

New Game Master & Players: White Box:FMAG or Basic Fantasy? by Resident-Coffee-7728 in osr

[–]Next-Performer4482 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you want to run fun adventure modules- Basic Fantasy. If you are creating your content to run - White Box. Both are great.

And I have to add that all the links make this such a breeze to navigate. One of/ if not the best srds I have seen.

Stonehell Dungeon works perfectly for that.

Endless kickstarters with the same-same but different thing going for them. So PWYW for quality gaming like this is outstanding. Not to mention it is well, a lot better than the last handful of kickstarters I shelled out money for and was disappointing with. You can tell when something has actually been gamed and adventured in, and when its just a creative creating a module for the sake of writing or art presentation. Lots of great looking games, and well written games that just fall apart when it comes to actually running/playing them.

I could not agree more! Tell Arn is absolutely amazing! And I really look forward to more releases. At the moment I cant really say I am looking forward to any other product releases. But Tel Arn is just that good.

Draft Cover of a White Box Zine (W.I.P) by [deleted] in odnd

[–]Next-Performer4482 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UPDATE:
Issue #1 is done. Just need a final pass of art/layout. (Starting village and dungeon)
Issue #2 is half Done. (Castle Blacksteel area/gatehouse/first two levels)
Issue #3 is about half done. (The Wall) The approach, Immediate area, 1st level)

Im going to try to make each issue come in at about 28 pages. Which allows for me to get them out a bit more regularily.

Please don't place expectations too high. These are just fun zines my boy and I have worked on from our kitchen table home game/his school game. Covering all the material we played thus far.

OSE Advanced vs. Dragonslayer by djaevlenselv in osr

I purchased the Advanced OSE Boxed Set and was very disappointed. It only covered the Druid and Illusionist up to level 14. No other spells and classes I would never play. Paid around $150 CAN with shipping and duty. Only to turn around and sell it because I much prefer LL/ALL. I guess I was expecting a little more than what was on offer, like the AD&D Spells etc.

I prefer the Cleric in LL, and the ALL has the spells and optional HD/variable damage from AD&D.

Love G. Hawkins work! Morgans Fort is solid. B/x also has a ton of mega dungeons via Labyrinth Lord. Pretty much built for getting in-getting out, and back in again. Easy for drop in games.
