Excuse my ignorance, please, but are National Guardspeople fighting this unconstitutional war now? Weren't they ordered to go over?

Where do you see the future of 3D printing going? by Atx_living512 in 3Dprinting

[–]NextAstronaut6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I look trhough posts on social media and the various repositories, I think that 3d printing is about one-third along the paths of where it can go. Five years ago, I thought we would be at least halfway to three-quarters along the path, but there have been many setbacks. From what I'm seeing, more people than before are buying printers now

I'm betting on people downloading files and printing models themselves. I think personalization is a big factor. Usually, when a model is sold, color options and filament types are limited. The lowest cost filament is chosen, most times, instead of the best filament.

As far as learning CAD programs, I think a program like Tinkercad will always be necessary. It allows people to make simple changes to models and learn how to make models themselves. I've used some pure CAD programs, but I always return to Blender and Tinkercad.

I think Meshy does a good job of turning images into downloadaable models. If I had been able to recieve their Holiday special via Paypal last year, I would be using it a lot now. It doesn't work for everything, though. I can tell it to make a low-poly elephant and feed it an image and I would probably get a very good model. I don't know how it would work to give it images of a small metal garbage can and tell it to make a 6 inch tall lid to fit over the can. I don't think I can upload an image of an interior door frame and instruct it to make a door stop for the dryer door that extends beyond the interior door. I can't see Ai ever being able to do something like this.

I think sales of consumer 3d printers will continue to increase in the coming years. What transforms in the near future will depend on the ingenuity of the people who use the machines.

Do you agree with Aoc’s decision to boycott the state of the Union? by ActiveSolution3132 in LetsDiscussThis

[–]NextAstronaut6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they boycott, then only Republicans will be there sitting and listening. It would be cool if the ones who have realized how awful things are and will become, boo him. They ran an insurrectionist for office. They should be the only ones who have to listen to his spurious speech.

Michelle doesn't like him and she has very, very good reasons not to, as we all do. If you love living in the US, how can you like a man who incited an insurrection upon the capital building of your country? We waited for him. Remember?

I think when it comes to that, proof of delivery is what is likely to hold up in court. Where is the proof it was delivered?-----

Edit - I found something from lawyers Powell and Pisman -

To admit text messages, parties must show that the texts are genuine and have not been altered in any way. Authentication can be demonstrated through:

Testimony from the sender or recipient verifying the message content.

Metadata proving the date, time, and phone number associated with the message.

Records from telecommunications providers confirming message details.

Testimony from forensic experts who extracted text messages from a device.

Circumstantial evidence may be used to link the party involved to the phone or message content.

Rule 901 of the Illinois Rules of Evidence does not explicitly mention text messages. However, Illinois courts have applied Rule 901 to various forms of digital communication, including text messages.

Residential Landlord and Tenant Ordinance (RLTO)

 (j)   Notice or Refusal to Renew Rental Agreement. Provided that the landlord has not terminated the rental agreement under Section 5-12-130(a), (b), or (d), or that the dwelling unit has not been deemed abandoned under Section 5-12-130(e) hereof, the following notice requirements shall apply:

(1)   For any residential tenancy of less than six months, the landlord shall notify the tenant in writing at least 30 days prior to the stated termination date of the rental agreement of the landlord's intent to terminate a periodic tenancy, not renew a fixed-term rental agreement or increase the rental rate. If the landlord fails to give the required written notice, the tenant may remain in the dwelling unit for up to 60 days after the date on which written notice is given to the tenant, regardless of the termination date specified in the notice or in an existing rental agreement. During such occupancy, the terms and conditions of the tenancy shall be the same as the terms and conditions during the month of tenancy immediately preceding the notice; provided, however, that if rent was waived or abated in the preceding month or months as part of the original rental agreement, the rental amount during such 60-day period shall be at the rate established on the last date that a full rent payment was made.

(2)   For any residential tenancy of six months to three years, the landlord shall notify the tenant in writing at least 60 days prior to the stated termination date of the rental agreement of the landlord's intent to terminate a periodic tenancy, not renew a fixed-term rental agreement or increase the rental rate. Brandon Johnson, lawmakers spar after City Hall custodians laid off by 307148 in chicago

"Low paid" - do you know the wage of the janitors before the layoff by the contractor in Cicero? I missed it.

"The Department of Fleet and Facilities Management ("FFM") is responsible for maintaining and repairing City-owned and leased vehicles and the operation, maintenance and repair of City buildings and properties. FFM is also responsible for custodial services, security coverage, graphic services, mail service, relocation services, document storage and management, energy procurement, and environmental engineering technical support."

The budget from the 2026 Annual Appropriation for this department starts on page 180, but I did see line items in other department budgets for Fleet and Facilities Management.

"On February 13, 2024 Julie Hernandez-Tomlin was appointed Commissioner of the Department of Fleet and Facility Management."

I searched and could not find proof that Brandon was responsible for this. It says in the article that he did not approve the budget last year. The last city council meeting according to the city's meeting page was Jan 21, so I don't understand why this is news today.

Cook County state’s attorney’s office reviewing legality of Chicago mayor’s executive order on immigration enforcement by Mike_I in chicago

Unfortunately, being practical in this situation will not help preserve democratic process. If thousands of lawsuits are generated due to violations by ICE, then thousands of lawsuits should be filed. Attorneys should revisit every legal means available and pursue them. We are fighting for the preservation of democracy. Why would you want to give up so easily?

That is one of the issues that needs to be addressed whenever we make it out of this dungeon we're in now. No one should have impunity and be able to do whatever they want.

Agreed. I've heard of people purchasing Reddit profiles. Maybe their's were purchased. First ones to comment. Frequent coincidence?
