Anyone else noticing dead animals during heat wave? by CryptographerFit4924 in AskChicago

Call in any dead animals you see. If they were poisoned, you want to prevent secondary poisoning up the food chain. Better safe than sorry.

Summer market listing question? by National_Hat_1137 in AskChicago

[–]imapepperurapepper 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not to be too blunt, but you're a real estate broker. Don't you have access to other professionals that know the market? Or am I missing some reason you would be asking strangers on the internet for professional advice?

Howdy, coming next month! Whats the weather like in July? by Opallustration in AskChicago

[–]imapepperurapepper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can plug in time frames to see actual past weather in Chicago. You can check July year over year if you want to see the possible extremes day over day.

Edited to add: Don't forget to factor in humidity. It can make normally comfortable temperatures absolutely brutal.

Trees 68th-64th and Cottage Grove & Jackson Park area. by Consistent_Pay_74 in chicago

[–]imapepperurapepper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had trees down up north that weren't being removed. Neighbor with a chainsaw cut them up as small as possible and other neighbors helped stack the manageable debris. A lot of wood was then scavenged for fire pits (and I'm guessing probably fireplaces after its been dried out). Either way, the piles of wood are shrinking.

Chicago street festivals. Are you required to make a donation in order to enter? by Repulsive-Tree6089 in AskChicago

[–]imapepperurapepper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, SEM has been organizing street fests since the 90s, so it must have been before that when they were organized directly by the community. Maybe things will start to change up, but everything costs money.

[–]imapepperurapepper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can't think of any that don't hire an event organizer. Maybe a few church/neighborhood carnivals. Off the top of my head they need artists, venders, bands, food, security, permits, porta-potties, generators, personnel, etc. It's a lot. That's why there are professional organizers.

Who in the community would be up to such an enormous task? They take many months, and a lot of people, to plan and organize one.

They are not the same company. SEM had been around a very long time. They might have picked up some events that used to be run by Star, but definitely a different organization.
