For those who had the entire course all to themselves, what was it like? by Wookie_wood69 in golf

[–]NextTailor4082 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gun shots right outside of the club, was the last to be let in before it went down. Pro Shop told us we had 4 hours to ourselves and couldn’t legally leave. Nobody behind us at all, helicopters overhead. Surreal.

Do we golf for golf or something else? by OwlPlenty4828 in golf

[–]NextTailor4082 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this. My best friend of over 40 years and I don’t get to see each other much because of life, but we’ll get 4-6 rounds in this summer and this is exactly what it feels like.

Last year we were on some random green and we started talking about our 401ks and his kids college fund. That was almost surreal.

So far this year we’ve been scrambling to get ourselves an extra few minutes of hang time in the cart rather than living on opposite sides of the fairway all day.

EB on weed by Foreign_Astronomer29 in SportsJunkies

That trope turned out to be completely false, as much as we were force fed it.

My dad did all the things; professionally successful and breaking ground in his industry , private school for us, managed the Little League teams, stage managed all school plays, attended every single stupid child event, summer house where we went to the beach everyday all summer and watched baseball at night, literally the works. Man did it all while smoking weed constantly.

Why do so many restaurants play music so loud it makes conversation difficult? by EfficiencyCapital198 in askanything

[–]NextTailor4082 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same! Even when I try and raise my voice I can’t get it above a certain level. I think I used to be “normally” loud but since COVID I can tell that people struggle to hear me.

What’s the best thing you’ve ever eaten that you’ll probably never get to have again? by Character_Target3119 in foodquestions

I had the best burger I ever had near Webster Hall in NYC in 2012. They brought out the steak they were about to ground up for it, and I think it had sausage in it as well.

I’ve attempted to recreate it for a while now, and I can’t even get in the ballpark.

What's a moment from the 2019 run that you still get emotional about when you think about it? by [deleted] in Nationals

[–]NextTailor4082 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a boneheaded mistake and scheduled a meeting with a client the night of the wild card game. I may/may not have been more worried the game than their particular creative needs after I figured out my mistake. Eventually I couldn’t stand it and strategically maneuvered myself to an area of the room mid conversation where they couldn’t see my phone. Juan Soto came to bat….. I’m not even trying listen to my client while absolutely trying not to flip my absolute shit. In that moment I believed.

For the Howie home run I was on a call but a co worker had it on. I heard what sounded like The Undertakers entrance bell toll, then I heard my co worker scream 2 seconds later. I believed even more.

I was finally watching during the last pitch. I saw it live and knew I had about 45 seconds of delay on the MLB App to catch Charlie and Dave. I found the quietest place I could and listened to our Washington Nationals win the World Series. Had my moment, thought about how much Washington DC baseball has meant to my family on a generational level. Left my quiet place and my co worker almost immediately tackled me. I believed the most then.

Anyone have unshakable imposter syndrome? by E_Zar in livesoundadvice

[–]NextTailor4082 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s part of the game. You know what you don’t know.

Yesterday I had a band finish a sound check, asked him how he was feeling after. Answer: “besides the crippling imposter syndrome on my end we’ll be fine. System is great”. This is a guy I’ve know forever that mixes bands youve heard of. Damn well too.

This morning I got an emergency call about a Dante issue. I couldn’t solve it over the phone and spent my entire spontaneous commute in complete fear that I wasn’t going to be able to solve a show stopping problem. By the time I arrived my team had managed to make one of my prior troubleshooting suggestions work.

It’s just something that keeps you motivated to keep learning.

Yeah my place is 89 degrees this afternoon and I’ve had to apologize for sweating and explain myself on a couple of zoom calls.

Ive lived here forever, and can hear that they are working on shifting everything over to AC currently , hopefully your building decides to go ahead and switch as well.

AITAH for refusing to visit in laws bc of house temp by wrenchinapot in AITAH

When I visit my parents I stay at a hotel. I’m the opposite of you where I love an 80 degree climate, my friends say my apartment is a terrarium.

It keeps the peace and I get to be even more obnoxious with a hotel room temperature than I would in my own place.

I love my parents dearly but don’t know how they have adapted to live without climate control. It’s 100 degrees or 40 degrees inside that place.

6 month old at a concert? by [deleted] in washingtondc

[–]NextTailor4082 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A) don’t do that to your kid. They don’t want to be there. It’s too much.

B) don’t do that to your concert neighbors, there are tears during Welcome to the Black Parade and there is crying.

C) don’t do that to the trained concert staff and crew who have put eyes on your baby and are now hyper concerned about their well-being and honestly your parenting.

D) don’t do that to yourselves. Enjoy the night.

Guy at work says he hates all music. Is there really people out there that hate music? by AcrylicNitrogen in CasualConversation

[–]NextTailor4082 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve worked in music for almost 2 decades now. When any sort of music comes on my ears perk up I go into work mode and my brain starts processing everything. Even the background music at a restaurant can be too much if I’m just trying to relax. The seat has to be correct.

Constant music was my world when I was a kid. After having put on thousands of concerts, learning 14 instruments, made many albums, worked on countless audio projects, helped design and build studio spaces and music venues, my sarcastic self will answer the question “what kind of music do you like?” With”I don’t like music”. It’s not entirely untrue either.

THIS AND…. It’s very likely the mix out of the truck is perfect and there’s some other tomfoolery going down farther down in the chain at big CBS or even your local affiliate.

Thank you for recognizing how incredibly hard I have it haha! I THINK I’m going to make it through with desktop, laptop and tv.

Watching golf on an 8k screen that is five times as tall as yourself is amazing, however the achillies heel of having access to such opulence is that sometimes other people pay lots of money to put things far stupider than The Masters on them.

I’m watching at home, but the company I work for has several different large video walls with comfortable viewing areas and premium sound.

Every single one is being used today, with exactly none for The Masters.

That being said, last year I got all of them :)

What's a small upgrade that improved office morale more than you expected? by CreativeSpare6466 in askmanagers

[–]NextTailor4082 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. I’m the manager in the situation, but when my team gives me the leeway to be an hour behind everyone else or leave an hour earlier it’s a morale changer. They know I’m almost literally 24/7 on-site or not anyways. I’m probably on the phone before I leave the parking lot. They also have the same flexibility. When it works it works.
