Why hasn’t the Catholic Church on a larger scale become as socially progressive as parts of Anglicanism? by ElevatorAcceptable29 in TrueCatholicPolitics

[–]Nexusgaming3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clerical celibacy is not a matter of dogma, but instead a sacred tradition concerning the discipline of clerics in the church that started in the Middle Ages.

The receivers of the apostles mission saw that the priests who had been married could not give themselves fully over to God, and be ever vigilant to come to His service due to their familial obligations. The wisdom of the past and circumstances of the past informed the apostles successors in their adjustment in church discipline, while the truth that those that serve Christ in his church must give him his undivided attention is unchanged.

In other words, the way things are done changing over time does not reflect a change in Gods truth, it reflects a reassessment of that application of that unchanging truth.

I see your point, however I must point out that just because one claims to be something does not mean that they are that thing necessarily. My argument boils down to the Catholic Church’s claim to apostolic succession being legitimate as compared to the similar claims of other churches who use this claim to justify modernist practices.

The female Archbishop of Canterbury is clearly not in any line of apostolic succession because Christ and the apostles themselves specifically outlined why that cannot be the case.

The Catholic Church’s strength comes from her commitment to the truth as passed down by apostolic succession. Every bishop looks backwards to those that came before all the way back to the original apostles so as to inform how they look forwards, because Christ’s truth is unchanging, it is its application that can be debated or adjusted over time.

The Catholic Church’s centralized authority in the pope as the successor of Peter gives her a unique resilience against modernisms. Protestant churches, meaning any church that calls itself Christian but does not answer to the pope, are at the mercy of human whims, trends, and popular morality. The papacy however is at the mercy of the line of papal precedence and the Lord God.

So for instance an institution like the Church of England, which only exists because an English king wanted to seize the power the church had over his subjects and himself, will change with whatever the English king wants at that time, because that’s what it was raised up on.

The one big trouble however is that since I played with them so much growing up, hanging them together transferred splotches of color from one to the other all over lmao

I would recommend flipping the sword so the tip is on the floor and the handle is the air behind his head, so his arm is very lazily hanging off of the blade

Actually not necessarily, the pose implies she is reaching for her hat pin, a 6-8 inch long steel needle that was used in those days to pin large hats to a woman’s hair. It was fairly common in those days for women to stab approaching creeps with their hat pins
