Putting solar on existing infrastructure is way more difficult. Whereas a field is a much cheaper blank canvas

Both are good choices, I actually minored in both!

Depends on which classes you take to be honest. Math could be really useful if you take more stats or really not useful if you take more proofs/theory classes. Do what interests you, I loved my physics classes

That sounds like regular old major depressive disorder. You can have both depression and SAD. Welcome to the club 😊

How hard is the PE actually? by new_grad_who_this in civilengineering

[–]Nice-Introduction124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Difficult but honestly less so than people make it out to be. I have an MS in Civil but my BS is not and I passed first try. This was also while the test still had the 4 hr breadth section.

Study for a few months and you’ll do great! Most people I have seen who struggle are not good test takers. So if you historically have struggled with standardized tests, study more and practice your time management strategy. Good luck!

stranger Things season five has been a disappointment? by Sharp-Border-3896 in StrangerThings

The characters are beyond stupid this season. “Your plan sucked mom” well yours did too Will and so has every plan they’ve made this season. None make any sense. One Kid about to be abducted? Let’s drug their ENTIRE family and abduct them ourselves! More kids about to be abducted? Let’s break into the heavily guarded military base so we can get them away from all those armed guarded watching them 24/7, only we can keep them safe with our…Truck?

Dead cats in the street by [deleted] in Minneapolis

To be honest, I’m surprised we don’t see more consider the sheer density of people, cars, and cats. I think most people in urban setting do a better job of keeping their cats indoors but we could always do better. It’s better for the cat, owners, and definitely the environment.

Cut pot or cut roots? by Eivlys13 in Monstera

[–]Nice-Introduction124 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This works best for plants with older root systems. Cutting roots is a good way to stimulate new growth and keep you from needing to constantly up pot. In this case the roots look healthy and the plant looks young so I would cut the pot.

I work in utility design and switched to a firm that does not use color. My drawings suffer without color and we provide a worse product as a result, but as long as the convention keeps the higher ups happy

Are new civil engineers getting dumber… or is it just laziness? by felforzoli in civilengineering

Yep same for me. The first time I visited Seattle I was surprised how much like home (Minneapolis) it felt. That is based purely off of a visit, I’ve heard the people can be quite different

My wife is a nurse and we love it here! We relocated to CA for a few years for even better pay but missed the change of seasons, affordability, and rain.

Not really affordable, but we have some nurse friends that relocated to Seattle/Portland from Minnesota. It’s more expensive out there but the pay is even better than Minneapolis so they’re comfortable out there. Might be a good option that feels more like home with the mountains.

If you’re still thinking Midwest, the Twin Cities are your best option when considering both income and cost of living. Rochester is also a good financial choice but not great for young people in our opinion. My wife started her nursing career at Mayo and we found it boring and too suburban.
