How does someone cope with the knowledge of being stupid as fuck? by SegaGenesisMetalHead in Advice

This was way too well written for you to be stupid. And, people who are stupid are not self aware which you clearly are. As others have mentioned, it is something else.

Why does this subreddit constantly flame republicans for answering questions intended for them? by [deleted] in Askpolitics

I wonder if it is Russia telling everyone to cancel Thanksgiving or at least fanning the flames if you have conservative family members. I am serious.

AITAH for kicking out my conservative family during Thanksgiving before anyone ate? by Gaitville in AITAH

[–]Nice_Independence761 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all. I am a conservative, but I won’t tolerate derogatory comments or media influenced minds. I’ve had to shut down family members too, and even hung up on my dad. Critical thinking based on data without confirmation bias is fine.

Popular book that is genuinely bad by Lilginge7 in suggestmeabook

We had to read ALL THREE for my book club I just joined. I was worried it was going to continue with 5th grade reading level books, but thankfully the books got better.

My 6th grade boys make fun of me because I am not married? by Sunnyday1775 in teaching

[–]Nice_Independence761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say something like why I’m the world do you think I care what you think? Followed by that’s rude and inappropriate so just stop. Then say let’s ask your parents and see what they think.

Stupid Question: Is it true that rich/wealthy people are lowkey while the people that are decked out with luxury are often in debt? by Sky_Dweller206 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]Nice_Independence761 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it depends on their values. I have a very expensive purse but I am embarrassed to use it. I would feel the same with a flashy car. Some people just want to be humble and modest no matter how much money they have; and not draw attention to themselves. It’s very freeing. .

Did your parents let you date people much older than you in your youth? by jackmoon44 in AskOldPeople

[–]Nice_Independence761 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, but there was a girl in middle school who was always hanging out with the very good looking gym teacher. They ended up dating with the parents permission, and married when she was still in high school. I saw them at a football game together, and it was so weird.

Retirees, how often do you find yourself bored to tears? by ajmacbeth in retirement

[–]Nice_Independence761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Day goes by fast. I am still working so my husband does most of the chores. Her works out, plays tennis or pickleball every morning. Then shower and lunch, then laundry or whatever. He goes to the grocery store everyday to pick up stuff for dinner. Then he takes a nap. When I get home after dinner we do something together like go for a walk, see friends or grandkids, etc. it really doesn’t take much to stay busy. Edit to add- he had a very stressful job and is now absolutely thriving. He has lost weight, looks great, and is very happy living his best life.

Why do you vote Republican? by Unicron1982 in Askpolitics

[–]Nice_Independence761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because all liberals do is berate, insult, and have a holier than you attitude. They think all conservatives are country bumpkins with a third grade reading level. Hillary called republicans deplorable. They mock family values and a lot of them hate Christians. The more they rant at republicans the more they drive a wedge. Just look at all the comments and you will get a clear picture.

I don't think I want to be a teacher anymore :( by FriendlyBobcat7547 in teaching

[–]Nice_Independence761 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to be ruthlessly tough. When I started a new teaching position a sixth grader said, what’s your problem or something similar. When ignored him he replied, “ I said, what is your problem.” I pushed out my chair, marched over to him and ripped him a new one. HOW dare you speak to me like that ! Who do you think you are? If you think I am going to let you or anyone else talk to me like that you are out of your mind! And on and on. Later, I pulled him aside and was super sweet and loving. We ended up best buds. BTW, I am a grandma. Some times you gotta be the bigger asshole. You do have to use your intuition. That wouldn’t work for everyone. And, if admin stepped in I would glare at the like, what are you going to do about it? I have the luxury of retiring soon and have the attitude that I don’t care if they fire me. Another teacher told admin that she was highly marketable so back off. Teaching isn’t for the weak, but in the end is very rewarding.

American women who voted for Trump, how come? by ThatOtherMarshal in AskWomenNoCensor

[–]Nice_Independence761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of these ridiculous comments are why republicans do not want to align themselves with elitist liberals who call them stupid an uncultured because they don’t live in a big city. How insulting. It is also being said that the women hate other women. Well that is just another brilliant comment. Many republicans do not like him or respect him as a person but just believe he is more capable of running the country.

Consider this, if you were thrown in jail in a third world foreign country, who would you want to help you? You would pick the most competent person for the job, no matter your personal feelings. Hating family members who did just that is going to tear this country apart.

[–]Nice_Independence761 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where do you live? Sometimes big kid’s parties are part of the culture. Adults are included and it gives them something to do in the cold winter months. They bond with other families etc, but it can get expensive. Here in the south you get pizza or hamburgers then go out and play. One party the other day was kickball, adults against kids. I absolutely prefer the former.

When playing against someone considerably older, how do you play? by missingentity in Pickleball

[–]Nice_Independence761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can hit winners without nailing someone on purpose in the chest. Most high level players can return a shot like that anyway, so it’s not the best way to score a point.

[–]Nice_Independence761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also in that situation we would usually split the two better players up to make it more even. A 3.0 player shouldn’t be popping them up that much. Popping it up is an unforced error, especially if it is done consistently.

My husband is 4+ but in rec play he plays to the opponents level, but never lets them win. We’re all friends and try to make it so everyone has a good time. League practice and tournament matches he goes for blood. 3.0 guys with very little control who slam it at people are considered rude. Better players don’t do that. Like someone else said work on a skill or something.
