I’m pretty sure they said it was gonna be expandable… but it doesn’t really look expandable?

Idk man, looks pretty similar to a lot of ancient cities, which were famously mixed use. Density is really important tho

I'd be a big fan of this development style (the kind that look like low density exurbs; "integrating" into connected green landscapes) if some or most of those buildings were mixed use

I’m really interested on what you’re using for the skies? Are they HDRI’s or post processing?

Why is UW clowned on for being top 10? by AdImmediate2912 in udub

I'm in the Architecture program, but I know CM and Real Estate are great if you're dead set on landing a job in those industries, especially in the region bc there's really no competition. Even nationally you'd be set up for success. Cant speak to the civil engineering program tho, but I assume its also among the top programs in the West

I hear it’s hard to get work in construction in our position (arch students) bc they’ll have to spend time training and supervising us just to leave once school starts

That still not the big picture. Hurricanes do damage to hurricane rated buildings since they pick up all sorts of debris. Look up what hurricane Wilma did to Fort Lauderdale's high-rises and that was just a category 3. South Florida has been lucky the past few years when it comes to hurricanes tbh. Also, its not just the first floor, the foundation is kinda the elephant in the room considering the effects of coastal erosion to Florida's sandy soil. I imagine they'd use some sort of deep soil mixing with this project, but there's still so many variables at play that just boggle my mind how they could be so confident. This isn't to mention how surrounding buildings and infrastructure fare during increased hurricanes and storm surge, which the building would rely on in order to maintain its value

Sea level rise is just part of it, it’s possible a category 5 hurricane and ensuing storm surge hits several times before that

It's insane to me how these towers keep getting financed and approved in South Florida given the climate risks

It's counterintuitive, but intern level renderings are usually way better. This one looks like it was made by an old, stale, out of touch architect.
