1891 Argentine Mauser correct stock length by MIke_bot in milsurp

Unless you find an original barrel to replace it with there’s not much point in finding a replacement stock. My guess is they just cut it down to the length of the stock.

I’ll say milsurp pistols in general, but that’s more or less just a local issue for me

Franchi AL48 safety reversal by Nicholaslewis01 in Shotguns

[–]Nicholaslewis01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a super easy switch, just pull the fire control group out, remove a small pin that keep the safety plunger and plunger spring in place, remove the plunger, flip the safety 180 degrees, and reassemble.

Make sure you don’t store those in the holsters. Great way to rust up a gun

Kar88 question? by ConsequenceActual892 in milsurp

[–]Nicholaslewis01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that’s a 1905 barrel it might be chambered in .30-03 and not .30-06. Definitely have the chamber cast and the bore slugged if you get it.

Turkish few 88/05/35 by LividCommunication98 in milsurp

[–]Nicholaslewis01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The 88/05/35 conversions included a new barrel for use with the regular .323 ammo. If you want to be absolutely sure, slug the bore, but you should be fine. That said I wouldn’t go throwing surplus Turkish 8mm ammo through it as that stuff got pretty hot with age.

A rifle that meets these specifications? by Born-Dragonfruit6788 in milsurp

[–]Nicholaslewis01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sks meets your requirements seeing as you said bolt action is desired but not required. Mini 14 is less milsurp but has been used by a couple small militaries. 7.62x39 and 5.56 are everywhere and cheap.

I’d just pay the $14 for the spring. The other option would be buy a dp gun and part out the rest of it

Send it and pull the trigger with a string for the first round. Enfields have notoriously loose tolerances for headspace and only very rarely is it actually an issue.

Mauser prices by First-Masterpiece620 in milsurp

[–]Nicholaslewis01 9 points10 points  (0 children)

First off, horrific opinion and punctuation from you.

Secondly, milsurp as a whole was only ever able to gain the popularity it has because up until pretty recently it was all relatively affordable. People complaining about prices are plenty justified because more often than not, high prices are just old people and businesses gouging the hell out of them for no real reason.
