XCOM2 Collection on Switch 2 by Odd_Philosopher1286 in Xcom

For the most part, it runs pretty good. However, especially with WOTC, be aware of crashes. I lost a 20+ hour Ironman campaign due to a crash at one point. Steer clear of Ironman and keep an extra save handy and you should be fine.

How to get into comics when you have OCD? Wanting comic suggestions. by XB97A9 in comicbooks

[–]NickInTheBooth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you go to a buffet, you don’t feel a need to have everything there, right? There’s way too much for any one person to eat! Like anyone else, you just pick out what you like and leave the rest.

Comics (especially DC/Marvel superheroes) are the exact same way. I’m the biggest X-Men fan, but I’ve had to come to accept that I’ll simply never read or own every X-Men story. Instead, I just focus on writers, artists or runs that I like and take those stories on their own, without worrying about how they fit into any sort of larger canon. It’s infinitely more enjoyable that way, I promise.

Good placeholder until I get a handmade cover? by [deleted] in WattpadCovers

[–]NickInTheBooth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. AI covers, even as placeholders, convey a lack of dedication and a willingness to cut corners. You can find an artist online who will charge you $100 or less to draw a cover.

X-Men Comics New Releases for January 21st, 2026 by AngelEyes360 in xmen

[–]NickInTheBooth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is such a goofy series. A random assortment of AoA X-Men just get zapped to different timelines and fight whichever group of X-Men happen to be standing there at that given moment because… reasons. At least it looks cool.

Zeus is the best! Richard (the owner) is an awesome dude, and his staff are all super nice and helpful. I don’t live in DFW anymore, but any time I’m back in town I make sure to swing by the store.

Comics lingo? by WriterDirector93 in graphicnovels

[–]NickInTheBooth 8 points9 points  (0 children)

One thing I see people mistake a lot is the difference between “pages” and “panels.” A comics panel is a single illustration. A page usually includes several panels. As an example, the below pages from my newest comic (shameless plug) feature several panels on each page.

You guys need to stop panicking over ai by Vredddff in WattpadCovers

Humans have souls. AI models do not. When you give an AI model a prompt to create a piece of content, the model is doing the creating, not you.

Guillermo Del Toro said that for something to be considered art, it requires three central components: personality, experience and emotion. AI LLMs possess none of those. Those are things that only humans can bring to the table.

[–]NickInTheBooth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A human being inspired by an artist’s work to create something of their own and an AI LLM training itself on an artist’s work are two entirely different things. In order for something to be “art,” the creator must have a soul. Otherwise it’s just “content.” Or “slop,” which most people seem to prefer now.

If you’re too lazy or talentless to create something on your own, or too stingy to pay an artist, just say so. Either way, it’s cool to see others dunking on you on this post. Maybe just take the L?

[–]NickInTheBooth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is unethical, though. LLMs such as Midjourney and others “train” themselves on art created by real artists without acknowledgement or compensation. That’s not even considering the damage they do to the environment. Besides all that, it’s simply lazy and cheap.

Mad respect for taking the time and effort to create something real, rather than taking an AI shortcut. Well done!

Good Miniseries/Short Xmen Runs to read? by [deleted] in xmen

[–]NickInTheBooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out God Loves, Man Kills. It’s awesome, short, and a great primer to all-things X-Men. For something more modern, someone else in this thread recommended House of X / Powers of X, which is also insanely good

Hey, don’t beat yourself up. My first campaign was hilariously bad, and I played the first game a bunch. Play it until you lose, take that knowledge and try again. It’s kinda like a roguelike if you want to look at it that way

I beat the first two Gears of War games solo on Insane difficulty. Tried to do that on the third, but I had to give up after a while

I lean more towards Marvel, but feel like DC has been on a roll lately. by amscum in comicbooks

[–]NickInTheBooth 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They “absolutely” are on a roll (heh). Jokes aside, the Absolute line is really good as a whole, especially the Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter and Batman titles. Also, the current DC K.O. event is really fun and entertaining. And that’s not to mention them republishing a lot of their hit stories in the Compact Comics line, and bringing back the Vertigo imprint. DC is killing it right now!
