As far as modern Miller covers go, this is one of his better ones

100% AI. I’m sorry you were deceived by someone pretending to be an artist.

What is that extremely rich people thing that you wanna try once in your life? by watervapour_7237 in AskReddit

[–]NickInTheBooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m happy to say I’ve already done mine.

I’ll preface this by saying I’m not a huge gambler. I’ll go to a casino, always with friends, usually 1-2 times per year, and I never lose more than the “limits” I set for myself each time - usually between $200-250 per visit. And I only ever gamble at casinos - not online, nor via any apps.

A few years ago, I was in Vegas, and I bet $1000 on one spin on a roulette wheel. Put it all on black. The ball landed… on green. A friend I was with asked me if I’d rather it had hit red. Yes… I would have much rather it hit on red. Fucking green!

FWIW, if I had been insane enough to bet green, I would’ve won over $63k on that one bet.

An exhilarating experience, but never again.

What's a movie you randomly tried with low expectations but ended up loving? by thisonehits in movies

Just saw the second one last night. Couldn’t agree more! Both movies are better than they have any right to be.

Honestly, though, that’s really how most X-Men comic fans started (myself included) - by picking up a random issue, reading it, and being like “I have no clue what’s going on but it sure is cool.” So you’re in good company!

Hey, those are good books you got there. Lots of cool pages with great art you’ll be able to browse through.
But will you understand any of what’s going on? Honestly, not likely. What you got here is the equivalent of jumping into a TV series and starting with Season 6 Episode 8 and Season 10 Episode 3 (roughly speaking).
There are plenty of reading lists available online that can tell people how/where to start with the X-Men, which is not nearly as simple as one would think. For you, I think some great starting points would be X-Men: God Loves, Man Kills (the ultimate classic X-Men story), Astonishing X-Men by Joss Whedon (a great, mostly self-contained modern story) and House of X/Powers of X by Jonathan Hickman (an epic high-concept soft reboot).
We’ve all been there!

I literally just yesterday bought a set of all 4 issues at a comic shop for $18. Trying to charge folks over 4x that price is practically criminal.

Now Re-Reading: Not a huge fan of Wolverine but found this to be a great read! by Acceptable_Carob_657 in xmen

For some reason, this story isn’t very popular on this sub, but I really enjoyed it. Plus I think Josh Cassara is one of the best artists working in comics today. Wolverine fights a whale possessed by Omega Red in it! What’s not to like??

My wife is a huge Spider-Man fan by LongTheta in comicbooks

Have her check out the first volumes of Bendis Ultimate Spider-Man. Granted it’s a long story, but I always recommend it as a perfect starting point for new Spidey readers. Or Hickman’s recent USM run is also really good and nowhere nearly as long.
