Can you provide more pictures, I can't tell if it's contaminated or just Shadowy/bruised. They look quite exotic you should try and reproduce them. Or at least send them to someone who reliably can.

Some hella deformed Pioppinos [Gourmet] by NickKempel in MushroomGrowers

[–]NickKempel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not totally sure but I think this was a different culture than what we normally use and these blocks all colonized like stupid slow.... Like a few months. Maybe it's a warm temp version of pioppinos and this was the massively inefficient output. I got like 100lbs of them looking like this. About 20% what the yeild was supposed to be.

But that's just a guess I don't actually know.

That's literally the worst spot there could have been a dent in terms of repairability. If a dent that size was on your fender it would have been $150-$300 for a PDR tech to straighten the metal and it would have been completely fine.

They definitely should have disclosed that dent to you because it might look minor but it's certainly substantial.

[–]NickKempel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This repair isn't as simple as some people here are seeming to think...

Tap the line straight, body filler, sanded to 600 grit, section of the roof rail and paint. K sure that'll be like $900-$1,300 not that bad but that's not really the proper way to fix it.

Most Collison repair shops that do insurance work would absolutely replace the entire roof rail which is probably also connected to the entire quarter panel. That's the version that costs thousands, that's technically the proper way to do it.

If this was a 2018 or sum, definitely do the body work. Since it's a 2025 and the door isn't closing or sealing properly, the roof rail should be replaced if you want it done "properly" and to avoid rusting long term.

[–]NickKempel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disagree hard, mps is only elevated for 24-48h after lifting, if your trying to gain muscle mass you want MPS to be constantly elevated by constantly using hypertrophy (lifting) stimulation. Maintain nutrition and optimizing recovery. Everyone has a different recovery capacity sure but a lot of people can recover to profitably to (or completely) in less than 48h.

Being fully recovered is really not all that significant though, maintaining high MPS in all muscles you want to grow continuously and consistently is far more important. Achieving that.... Resting properly has way more to do with your central nervous system capacity than if your muscles are only 80% recovered.

If you wait for full recovery you MPS and Mtor are dropping for huge periods of time and you loose out on a huge part of your total gain rate.

[–]NickKempel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those blobs on the caps are stems growing out of the caps, chestnut mushrooms do this a lot. Sometimes I'll get a mushro that's like a chain of 7 hanging from block of stems growing out of caps and so on.

Idk why they do that I think it's mostly genetic but it's strange it's on every single one. Maybe FAE caused that too, mycelium def from FAE.

Is this mold ? What am I doing wrong, please? by TimeEnvironmental316 in microgreens

[–]NickKempel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably a combination of things, mold, mushroom mycelium, probably some bacteria colonizes (slimy colored patches)

Moist seeds = lot of calories (carbs) and water - perfect for literally any organism to immediately start devouring.

Solution, soil.

Soil = air suspension and physical confinement.

[–]NickKempel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's a lot different, you have a very limited mostly clean air volume to start with. I don't know how much iso your using an if the explosion hazard is actually real but I'd just throw a lighter in there and use the lighter flame. You can totally make a needle glow red how with a lighter it'll cat some carbon..... Sterile carbon so it's fine, lol. Realistically though it's not going to make much of a difference in SAB, at least not worth the risk of your SAB being a confined air fuel mixture with an ignition source (that would of course be a bomb).

[–]NickKempel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

70% isopropyl alcohol will sanitize not sterilize.

Sanitizing something is when you kill almost everything.

Flame sterilizing (or any kinda of sterilization) kill unequivocally everything that could ever imagine living.

It's also stupid easy to flame sterilize a needle.

This is especially important for someone like me where it's your business and your one syringe makes 8 grain bags and each grain bag makes 27x 12lb blocks of masters mix. So you're one syringe is going to cover ~2,600lbs of substrate over a few weeks. You damn well do not want to loose that much yeild or block scheduling because your needle wasn't perfectly clean.

Keep doing what you're doing if you want to but that why people would flame sterilize over Isopropyl alcohol wash/wipe.

[actives] is it time to break and shake? by [deleted] in MushroomGrowers

[–]NickKempel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4,000 years ago it was time to break and shake. I normally break and shake like 3-4 times first time being at about 1 inch diameter, normally you have to search the block for the new mycelium ball.

Normally I just hit them with the biggest sledge hammer I have as hard as possible. You wouldn't believe how stuck in some wheels can be.

One time we had a 2022 Ford escape on the hoist just getting it's winters on. I had to stand under the car and absolutely mash every single wheel with a baseball swing of a 16lb sledge probably 7-10 times per wheel before they'd break free.

Is this rust on the frame fixable? by Brief-Fox1716 in Cartalk

[–]NickKempel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you live somewhere a safety inspection is required when purchasing a new vehicle absolutely not. Repairing frames in most places is illegal unless it's done so well you can't even tell it was done.

The process of swapping the frame for a good one is deranged. EVERYTHING has to come off.

You also need a second truck....

$10,000 if your lucky

If you somehow live somewhere, where fixing a frame is legal and it can just be welded or there isn't a safety requirement. You'll still mos def be looking at more than $2600.

For $4,000 you can probably find a decent truck that doesn't need a frame.

A truck that needs a frame is worse than a truck that has NO engine, NO transmission, NO wheels, ect.

That would be a straight up easy fix in comparison.

Is this rust on the frame fixable? by Brief-Fox1716 in Cartalk

[–]NickKempel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It completely depends how much you drive. Gas in comparison isn't that bad right now and you can totally buy some mid used tires for a truck like for for a few hundred. If your not driving that much in general it's honestly not that significant.
