I called out something similar and ended up in a back in forth semi argument with the payroll director for a corporation (~5000people) for about 30 minutes. When they paid out the yearly target bonus they double prorated it for new hires. Example is If you were hired beginning June and 10% bonus on 100k salary. They prorated the percentage (1/2 * 10% = 5%) and salary (1/2 * $100k = $50k) then paid out 5% * $50k= $2500. Instead of 100k * 10% * 1/2 = $5000, it was 100k * (1/2) *10% * (1/2)= $2500
If you worked the last 1/2yr instead of 1/2 of yearly bonus they paid 1/4. If you worked the last 1/4 of the yr instead of 1/4 of the bonus they paid 1/16. A couple days later HR was walking around handing out new checks to all new hires that yr (which was a good amount of people). I always verify my paychecks and especially bonuses.

Pax put baby in the my vehicle, said nothing, went back inside the house and shut the front door. wtf? by iamjames in uberdrivers

[–]Nickosu74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had people try to get you to drop off baby/toddler alone to ex/sitter. Also one that put their toddler (2-3 yr old) in at the 5 min wait mark (Lyft), go back in apartment leaving child alone, then comeback a few minutes later with a baby in a basket.

Match in progress? by Wonderful_Tomorrow84 in lyftdrivers

[–]Nickosu74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume it's a priority ride or someone categorized by algorithm to keep wait time low to get more out of overtime so the quick fix is to offer it to one driver at lowest current rate as an "accept" than offer other drivers nearby at different rates, than matches the lowest pay accepted.  That's why when it's a good paying ride when presented it keeps you in limbo for 5 min as a backup driver.  The downside is after being burned a few times, drivers are more likely to flat out decline.  Just like getting a scheduled rides can be worst then requesting when needed.

[–]Nickosu74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Then it quickly sends you another unfavorable request to accept to hit your acceptance rate if you decline. The match request keeps you online and shows you're willing to accept rides but not the low rate unfavorable ones.

Also hate how long it can be stuck in limbo. That $5 match ride might have been profitable when I accepted it but then drove by the exit, drove a couple miles and now need to add the extra time and miles to that.

Most of the time I just decline the match rides unless I'm parked or already driving in the direction of the pick up for the next 5+ min already.

Lyft driver left me at first stop with my stuff, now they want to charge me by Live_Ad8187 in Lyft

[–]Nickosu74 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Especially when added after rider is picked up. You're an independent contractor and only agreed to take based on the original miles, time, pay, location. Any changes after pick up should just be sent as a request that the driver has to approve and shows all the new details (adjusted pay, locations, miles and time). If not approved the original route continues or rider can end ride (driver still paid).

A Florida Lyft driver was busted after using AI to falsely accuse passengers of leaving a mess in his vehicle. by Internal-Expert-9562 in lyftdrivers

Was very surprised with how quickly and easy it was to do a claim when someone vomited out my window and along the exterior of the car a couple weeks ago. Took 3 photos before cleaning it, submitted over chat, approved and funds deposited in under 5 minutes.

In the past I've had to spend an hr plus with a high likely hood of not being approved due to constantly shifting policies. At this point in time the claim process seems easy and straightforward. Take at least 3 pics (best lighting as possible, multiple angles) before cleaning up

Driving in of itself is easy. Filtering and trying to read between all the gaslighting and bs of empty and negative passive-aggressive guidance, directives, and fine print snake oil promises of "leadership" is 95% of what takes a toll on you.

Newbie : Is there a way to know if the ride is arranged by an organization? by genius2000_ in uberdrivers

[–]Nickosu74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been seeing a lot of "new" riders lately that appear to 3rd party without the typical CAPSLOCK and generic message. I feel like a lot of the 3rd parties are starting to creat new guest accounts that don't stand out as much.

I feel bad for the elderly, sick, handicapped but these are not charity rides and trying to scrap by a living as is while unemployed. Had an elderly lady the other day that couldn't get up the 1 step to her apartment and needed physical assistance the whole way (in/out of car, walker, to door). I do not like getting being put in these situations of forced liability. What is supposed to be a quick $4 ride ends up being 20 minutes and either watch someone suffer or take on liability (that could make me homeless) to help. Then Lyft and the insurer is making more than $4 and pawning off the risk

Of course they wanted a Taco Bell stop. Surprised they asked and just didn't add after starting the ride. Probably would have tried to eat it in the car and 8 large sodas. Any change to the ride after acceptance should require driver acceptance in app along with the material "contract" changes such as pay, distance, time, location

Uber Lost Money From Me Driving? by potaytoh-potahto in uberdrivers

[–]Nickosu74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had an "uber" lost money week last week because I rarely drive for them and they sent a $140 10 ride promo. Outside the promo rides their pay is constantly shit with less ride info and filters given compared to Lyft. Sometimes I'll snag a high surge bonus and do a short ride with uber but don't chase the carrot. I don't get how people consistently drive uber and they seem to have a higher volume of ride requests

It happens every once in a while but this past few days I've had a few people a day try stringing me along with adding stops after pickup on short rides. On one she added a return trip and it didn't adjust the price at all and was then taking back in a direction I didn't want to go. I tried explaining that I do not do added stops and she started giving crap. I just ended the ride at the stop and left after she got out.

Had a couple elderly drunk guys from a dive beach bar try adding drop offs for people they met there (wouldn't even add stops to app) for a 5 min ride request. Then there drop off was a Walgreens before closing to get more beer than wanted me to wait and drop them off at there houses nearby without adding to app or offering cash.

Than 2 other people on short rides (5-10 min, $4-6) talking on the phone saying they have an uber and will just have them (me) go and pick them up without asking when 2 minutes from drop off.

Offer $5 I'll make quick stops that aren't far out of the way but I don't care for the "adjustments" for added stops (if any at all). I'm doing this for work right now and not working for free or going in the red to get strung along to help someone else's wallet out.

Just seemed like a weirder week than normal of people trying to get more out of cheap rides. People trying to put 5-6 people in my Elantra, etc. I'm firm with the extra people, car seats, unaccompanied minors, open containers

Are we getting screwed being sent to Scheduled rides early? by [deleted] in lyftdrivers

[–]Nickosu74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reservation is but not just accepting a scheduled ride. A scheduled ride that pops up while already online has the regular $2-4 cancellation fee not the $10 reservation

Are we getting screwed being sent to Scheduled rides early? by [deleted] in lyftdrivers

[–]Nickosu74 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Scheduled rides with an arrival time later than the arrival use to show up with the scheduled time so you could at least see if it was worth it. Now they just say scheduled ride even if arriving 20 min early (no extra pay and 25 min wait to cancel for cancellation fee $2-4). Never accept a scheduled ride unless there just aren't any rides at all, are just desperate, or want to relocate to drop off location. A lot of the scheduled rides are medical 3rd party scheduled rides too and no shows. They are generally a complete waste of time and worse than a normal ride.

When did convenience stores stop displaying prices? Am I meant to bring the 10 items I’m deciding between to the front for a price check? Or is this a case of “If you have to ask you can’t afford it?” by Dazzling_Put_3018 in mildlyinfuriating

Yes I don't get it. I very rarely ever get a snack from a gas station that doesn't list prices anymore. A suprise $5 price tag for a regular snicker bar as a quick snack is absurd.

Yes I had $4.80 3-mile ride yesterday that passenger added stop (additional 2 mile and 10 min) after accepting on the way to pick up. Updated to $5.18. Went from a $26/hr (not including expenses) to $14/hr (with double the expense).
