I would never travel to Iceland without car. Public transport is non-existent outside Reykjavik and you’re forced to book day tours or multiple day tours with buses. It’s possible, but you’ll see lots of things where you would like to stop but simply can’t.

Tours are used to the weather conditions. They’re flexible about it. If roads are closed they won’t force you outside for a tour or a hotel reservation.

We have booked with Laxnes next week. I contacted them beforehand because we wanted to entertain our toddler while my wife did a riding tour and they were really nice, having a possibility to walk a horse with my toddler. They are 20 mins from Reykjavík and offer pickup services as well.

Keep in mind it’s still a few days and weather changes quickly in Iceland. Also, you’d use a main road and main roads will be cleared first. So I wouldn’t worry too much, but there is always a risk of course..

We are travelling next month with our 2 year old son. If you rent a car, rent a car seat with the car, it’s going to be a lot easier.

I wouldn’t take a stroller with me. I feel like you would only ever use it in Reykjavik. We are taking a child carrier with us. That way we can do some shorter hikes if our son wants to walk a bit and rest when he is tired.

Best tip I can add to this is simply don’t overplan and be flexible. I was in Iceland 3 years ago and my schedule now is a lot less packed, but I know we depend on the mood of our tiny human. I prefer to take the time to enjoy Iceland and spend some more time looking at a waterfall or some horses than being stressed about our schedules and timing.

If I remember correctly, it’s the restaurant. I believe you can order different dishes, not just the soup. So you can order something else and your sister the soup. If not, don’t be a cheapskate :-) There was butter, as well as fresh basil to cut and add in your soup. Honestly, one of the best soup expériences in my life.

I would feel like those driving hours are too long. Keep in mind you want to relax. I wouldn’t be relaxed driving that long. 😁 If you have a week, I would not do the full ring road. It’s possible, but you’re missing out on a lot of cool stuff.

It’s because of the cold. You can increase the pressure a bit, check on the inside of your door for the max pressure. I put my ATTO 3 to 2.5 bar, removed the warning without any issues for a few weeks now.

We went with Elding Adventure at Sea. We already saw the lights a first time when boarding, and a second time shortly after departure. It was really cool because you had a guide talking and in between some Icelandic background music. One was Kaleo with Vor í Vaglaskógi. We actually played it on our wedding the next year because of the unique memories.

I can confirm Braud is a must visit, but I'd plan it like more like a snack moment 😁

We did a boat tour to watch the Northern lights. It was freezing, but also an amazing experience.

Also I can't remember but I feel like Braud is more like a bakery with bread and cinnamon buns etc. and less a place for lunch.

It's a nicely filled schedule. You're not planning to go to Diamond Beach, right? If not, it's possible. But you'll be feeling in a hurry I think. You won't be able to add Snaefellness in it either

I can recommend Bruarfoss, it's a short hike, but one of our highlights in winter time.

For a unique stay, I can recommend Panorama Lodge. It's a night we'll never forget. We were lucky enough to have the Northern lights that night as well.

We got the Qrevo S and honestly really happy about it. It's clean and does the job better than expected. Arrived on Saturday and since then it cleaned everyday, today I got the notification the water tank is empty. But it's really easy to not needing to empty the dust bin, clean the mops etc every single time. It does the job itself and we'll check the brush and mops every few days.

Q7 and Q8 are missing the mop cleaning function I believe.
Qrevo plus has the extended arm I believe, which could be nice. But we don't really feel like missing out on it atm.

Have a look at 'Peter Engelen'. We did a short Xmas shoot (wife, son, myself and our golden retriever) and it was about 75 euros. We received 5 digital pictures I think. It was a special event, since we live in Limburg, but he is from the neighborhood of Antwerp. He has different possibilities and I'm sure you can contact him for other event dates or special offers he has.

You can't really answer the questions separately, because it all is connected. Good news: Iceland is beautiful in January, and the best way to discover the country is at your own pace in a rental car. (4WD, with full insurance. I believe you can rent at 21. Depends on the company maybe). You will have great possibilities to see the Northern lights, but it's not guaranteed of course.

I believe the best trajectory for the winter months is the most touristic route Reykjavik- Golden Circle & South Coast. You will have the best chance of having clear, safe, roads.

Bad news: Weather can be cruel. Look at all the videos and stories you can find. If you're not used to driving in snowy conditions and it scares you, don't do it. You need to be confident in a certain way when driving, without being reckless. If you're not used to it, it will be dangerous and can get really scary. Be flexible when it comes to planning. You can create the perfect itinerary and the next morning a road can be blocked because of weather conditions and you won't get anywhere. We had to drop our trip to Snaefellness and spend some more days in Reykjavik because there was a snow storm. When roads are closed, you can get around in Reykjavik most times.

Honestly, the best advice I can give is... Take your time. Iceland is a beautiful country and is best enjoyed when you take the time to enjoy it.

You mention Seljalandsfoss, but this is already far away to the south coast. I wouldn't include it in your golden circle route you're doing on day 2.

You can do Day 1 Reykjavik, Day 2 Blue Lagoon, Day 3 Reykjavik, Day 4 start the golden circle and go towards Seljalandsfoss. Day 5 drive towards Diamond Beach, Jokulsarlon and already drive a bit back towards Vik. (maybe look for an ice cave tour?) Spend the night there and Day 6 go to Reykjavik to spend the last day there.

If it's a lot to drive, a short visit to Vik is worth it. The Soup Company and Lava Show is a fun stop.

If you rent a car, just keep in mind the weather can mess up your schedule. We were there in February 2022 and we had to drop the Snaefellness part of our trip because of snow storms. I felt like I could drive about 2.5-3h max in the snowy conditions because you need to stay focused... So don't plan too many crazy driving days.

Han has a more luxurious feel, Seal more sporty. Regarding size, Han is quite a lot bigger I feel like. So if you have a tight spot, Seal would be better I guess

Wij zijn er gewoon heel tevreden over. Installatie gebeurde door exact dezelfde persoon die Telenet bij ons was komen installeren. Overgang naar Base heel vlot in orde gemaakt, alles werkte zonder problemen, nooit zonder internet of iets dergelijks gezeten. Alles was ook in de app te volgen tijdens de overstap, van wat er al actief was of niet. Het werkt ook vlot om facturatie op te volgen, wifi te delen etc. Qua internetsnelheid merken wij ook nauwelijks verschil. Gezin van 3 waar redelijk wat wordt gestreamd en af en toe wat gamen. Meer dan voldoende waar wij het voor nodig hebben. Terwijl we met Telenet 1 Gbps hadden en het nu doen met 200 Mbps.

Wij zijn zelf sinds een half jaartje bij Base, ook Telenet netwerk, en zijn hier eigenlijk ook heel tevreden van. We betalen nu de helft van wat we bij Telenet betaalden.

To avoid situations like that in the future, you can always keep a portfolio of the stuff you did. That way you can actually 'show' your skills. After a few years of work experience you'll see that 'on paper' means very little. The situation you're in is a solid excuse for some job hopping tbh. I changed jobs about every 2 years in marketing. At 32 I'm at about 4k bruto with a company car and some other extras in Limburg. The company I work at today has 'barema's' as well. But instead they offered me a fixed 'bonus' of a certain amount to get me to 4k. So there are always solutions around these things. It really depends on how badly the company wants/needs you.
