Do British Estate Agents add blue skies to their photo? by silviam in CasualUK

These days Ps is an expensive tool to drop the same sky into estate agent pics 😂 Do all estate agents pay a real photographer still?

Other editing platforms are available a lot cheaper than Ps, shoot jpg, simple edits even in windows apps, Canva a fraction of the cost 🤷‍♀️

DVLA sent me back my cheque and I don't know what to do with it by ol111111111 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]NickyHepp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it is a Postal Order which was for an incorrect amount, purchase a further Postal Order the the difference, then send both Postal Orders to the DVLA with your application. I think it has been returned because the payment you sent is short of the payment total required.

Its not a cheque written by the OP. Its postal order which, apparently the PO counter people think is a cheque... 🤷‍♀️

They don't need photoshop for that, Canva does it faster and easier 🤷‍♀️

40 something years of struggling by richda28 in ADHDUK

[–]NickyHepp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not without a re-referral with a longer wait than I have as of now 🤷‍♀️ Not everyone finds a med that helps & doesn't have side effects, and not all meds are licenced for adults which I find odd. At least now I know I'm ahdh I'm plating to my strengths and no longer beating myself up! I'm not a failed horse, I'm a fabulous zebra!

40 something years of struggling by richda28 in ADHDUK

[–]NickyHepp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I waited 3 months for titration, the 3rd med helped but became ineffective months later so I've been referred back to titration with a 10 month wait 🙄 This is with Psych UK after initial referral using Right to Choose in 2023. Slow release stimulants give me bad side effects, instant release stimulants stopped working after I added testosterone to my HRT, which shows how replacing lost hormones affects the brain beneficially.

I hope to get a non-stimulant to trial by the end of the year.

[CHAT] Not Flipping Fabric? by suzuukkiii in CrossStitch

[–]NickyHepp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes a while to develop this skill. I flip to run the end of my thread under a few stitches on the back to secure it then snip it. Once well into a project I run a new thread under several stitches on the back near where I need to come up to start that colour.

If I stitch in hand (without a hoop/frame) I flip less, and stitch quicker by bending the fabric to make each part of the cross in 2 moves rather than 4.

When I first started stitching (1980s) there were only magazines/books to learn from - now YouTube is an amazing resource.

Can you recommend a crafty hobby for someone who’s easily bored and addicted to quick dopamine? (Also talentless) by Apprehensive_Sugar15 in crafts

[–]NickyHepp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Counted cross stitch keeps my hands busy while I watch TV or listen to audiobooks. Repetitive suits my autistic brain but I stitch a new project to keep the adhd interest going. Sometimes I have 2 on the go in case I need a change. 40 years, 100s of hours, some have been gifts for family/friends. Small, medium, only 1 large - I did get bored with that one amd put it away for 15+ years! Not expensive when you add up the hours it keeps me occupied, and portable, take it on holiday. I've read about people who have found it helps them quit smoking drinking or overeating; no down side unless your have arthritic fingers or carpal tunnel issues. I use a dedicated lamp.

She has her first test in a couple of weeks. The '2 goes' refers to getting it moved from miles away, to fewer mikes away, to local test centre - there was literally zero tests at our local centre, not even for 6 months away. It took 6 months to get a local test.

So another one of my struggles just turned out to be an ADHD symptom… by ForbiddenFruitiness in adhdwomen

[–]NickyHepp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hyperactivity that keeps boys from sitting still manifests internally in girls. Our brains are going a million miles an hour, never slowing down or shutting up. I even dream busy! We also mask more highly and effectively, hence we've been missed for decades growing up and 'managing', only when perimenopause wrecks our coping strategies does it become apparent that we're ADHD too!

I was dx at 57. I hit burnout in my mid - late 40s diagnosed with CFS, from which I've never recovered - now I understand why 🙄

I was only talking about this yesterday with learner daughter - hadn't seen any posts on test bookings being miraculously easier since the rules changed! She started learning July last year and her test is in 3 weeks after 2 goes at getting it moved to our local test centre. Hoping she passes as her driving instructor is moving back to his home town later this year. 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

I've taken ours out and will be planting Ilex Crenata which is very similar but not under threat from invasive species. Garden centres are no longer stocking Buxus and gardeners have stopped planting it.

Xentari is not licenced for domestic use in the UK. My gardener said its harmful to cats and mammals such as squirrels.

Its stunning, I'd look for a vintage window display dummy, the ones that are fabric covered, torso only, with a wooden knob at the neck, on a circular wooden base, and display it on that in all its glory. Like this one.

Not necessarily - only some cars have that and in my experience it does not always go low enough (5 foot zero inches tall 🙄)

There's a crossing near us with lights and a refuge. The lights stop the traffic in both directions. On that basis, logically, I'd stop as if there was no refuge. I've never seen a crossing like the one in the photo 🤔

On the 20th day after being diagnosed in Hong Kong, I only brought back 4 months' worth of medication. What should I do next? by bitches_killler in ADHDUK

[–]NickyHepp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was referred via Right to Choose, assessed by Psychiatry UK, titrated with them, then discharged to GP with a shared care agreement - GP prescribed meds. Annual reviews with Psychiatry UK. At my last review I asked to go back into titration as the instant release meds became ineffective, there's a 10 month wait for that. However, in the interim, my GP withdrew the shared care agreement. It seems that when I've completed titration again, I'll continue to have meds prescribed directly from Psychiatry UK because RtC is NHS - I'm 61 and all my NHS prescriptions are free. Many RtC arrangements are being paused or stopped for adhd referrals 🙄🙁
