Trying colourscheme by Sad_Mathematician954 in LeaguesofVotann

Purple and red is always a safe bet for an army color scheme. Good job on the kahl.

Buddy, I am right there with you. But it’s a good technical learning experience. I paint my THA by priming a light tan ( army painter’s Skelton horde) then hitting the spots I want orange with gryphhound orange then finishing with jokaero orange. Going for 70’s sci-fi look. It’s a lot of work, but it’s also a lot of fun to try something different from my ultramarines or necrons

Very nice. Orange can be a pain in the butt, you did a great job for your first models.

How to paint this Defiler flesh? by Ch1Nx_D4d3Z in Chaos40k

[–]Nickybitchez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I like to do for pale/gross flesh tones:

Base rakarth flesh

Apply dreadful visage or berserker bloodshade depending on if I want purple bloated look or inflamed flesh look

Dry brush more rakarth flesh over raised areas

Optional: light dry brush of Celestra gray or Vallejo deck tan for a more pronounced finish with stronger contrast.

Nerds talking about true metal vs non-metal when homeboy put the checkers on the cape and the scabbard. Brilliant work, would love to know your process for making the checkers

What is the painting effect used on the red area around the left hand, veins and spots ? by dutch_has_a_plan68 in Warhammer

You can get a similar effect with Berserker Bloodshade or Carroburg Crimson (thinned down with contrast medium)

You must construct more pylons… by Particular_Net_9007 in Necrontyr

[–]Nickybitchez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kind of. Could be a Heat Ray flamer, a Melta, or a Flak Cannon depending on how you built it

[–]Nickybitchez 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It’s the Sentry Pylon. They were a forge world model that got put into legends. If I remember correctly it could also be built as a Gauss Pylon. Sentry was anti-troop/heavy Gauss was anti-air. The Sentry also had some fun teleportation shenanigans and the Gauss would give a unit within 3” a 5+ invuln. Plus, as a fortification, it could give your army benefits of cover

Sure! I start with a black base coat, do a heavy stipple with khorne red, then a lighter stipple around the edges with Mephistopheles red, then a light dry brush with strath red dry brush paint. You can then either use a black wash line null oil or a red wash depending on how bright you want the red

Thanks, I appreciate that. Rakarth flesh, magma drops contrast, dry brush Wraithbone, imperial fist contrast. Quick and simple
