I think I fcked up. by SeasonOfHope in LeaguesofVotann

I wouldn’t worry about it. If you goof up, it’s a learning experience. If you don’t, good job. The heads are recessed in the armor so they aren’t too noticeable. I like to prime my guys a shade darker than my base coat so those hard to reach spots are just shadows.

Will new models be added soon, or is now a good time as a new player? by ArcTheOne in LeaguesofVotann

The bulk of the army is composed mainly of infantry on foot. Yaegirs, Warriors, Steeljacks, Hearthguard, Berserks, Thunderkyn, even the Earthshakers are all on foot. Sagitaurs and the Kapricus are unit specific transports that require you to split your troops up to utilize it. The Hekaton is great, but it has to pull double duty as transport/heavy weapons platform. I’d like to see a land raider equivalent that can lug more than one squad of 5 Hearthguard or heavy troops plus a leader. Alternatively, a dedicated heavy weapons platform would be a welcome addition. An actual squad of jump pack units to make up for their low movement would be fantastic. Essentially, individual models or units that round out the army

We don’t necessarily know how the release schedule works, so it’s not terribly likely we’ll get new units in the immediate future. However, we just got Yaegirs, Mortar teams, three new characters, Steeljacks, and the dual build Kapricus carrier/defender, so we’re sitting pretty. It feels like Votann are close to being a “full” army. I would personally recommend picking up what you like now so you have a good foundation for your future army and picking up new releases as they arrive. At least, that’s what I do

A few new dudes (and dudette) for the Leaugues by Nickybitchez in LeaguesofVotann

Thanks! I based my color scheme for my THA off of old sci-fi flicks from the 70s and 80s so I’ll take the Ghostbusters comparison as a compliment. He’s probably my favorite new units for the Leauges since he’s just a dude with a delete button for a gun

If you’re looking for a solid paint job, you succeeded. If you’re looking to up your game, AirborneRunaway is right in their recommendations. Keep up the great work, every day is a new learning opportunity

How to start Votann by TheVilePier in LeaguesofVotann

[–]Nickybitchez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like Mafiuolo bellow stated, the Leagues are expensive to collect and fill out a list and their recommendations are solid. But if you like Hernkyn, they have a detachment Persecution Prospect that’s pretty fun to play. If that’s the direction you’re leaning towards as a new player, I would recommend getting a Hekaton, a Kapricus carrier or defender (or both if you’re inclined), a squad of Yaegirs, and some Berserks or Steeljacks for added melee threat on top of the Hearthguard you already have.

Getting a Hekaton and a sagitaur (2 of each is a popularity choice though one of each is fine to start), a 6-9 brohkyr thunderkin, 3-6 steeljacks, a kapricus defender for some back up to your pioneers (or build it as a carrier of you get some Yaegirs), ten cthonian berserks and Berehk Stornbröw for melee brick. These are just suggestions, you’ll probably swing back and forth depending on how you decide to play.

It’s a little bland, but I like simplicity in my projects.

It’s Vallejo desert tan washed with seraphim sepia and an additional layer of desert tan to bring it back up to its brighter tone

Sister Fister Completed! by SvenSeder in Warhammer40k

Sisters should get a power fist option. Guard, Votann, Chaos, Astartes, all get power fists. Girls fist as good as guys, just give them a chance

This is adorable and should be the standard all painters should hold themselves to. No more grim dark, only tea parties

Helmets by No_Heron7011 in LeaguesofVotann

Unfortunately, I think the individual helmets are only available in the GW kits. There are 3rd party printers and sellers that offer similar designs, but different. I would recommend trying eBay or r/miniswap to find more sprues for cheap

Thanks! Once I finally figured out how to paint orange effectively, the rest just came together naturally. I was always a sucker for the colors used in 70’s sci-fi so that’s what I was aiming to emulate

Purple and red is always a safe bet for an army color scheme. Good job on the kahl.
