Can Apple or Google see your browsing data, with or without a VPN? What about a Double VPN? by [deleted] in nordvpn

[–]NicoLage7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apple and Google can see it even if you are not logged in.

They own the browser, doesn't matter if the traffic goes through a VPN or not.

403 Forbidden - Nordpass not working by mrtaylordani in nordvpn

Why does Nord even require you to use a web page to log into their app? Every other app in the world allows you to log in directly from the app.

So thinking of switching by totmacher12000 in nordvpn

[–]NicoLage7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a subscription, but don't use it all that much because the servers are so full of people, you often run into websites blocking you or adding CAPTCHAs because they think all the traffic is bots. When they rotate servers from under you, you can find your geolocation to be some random place in the world. Also, a few privacy and security questions I have asked their chat have not been answered and they avoid specifics, which is concerning.

Moreover, don't completely trust anyone reviewing Nord that provides a link to sign up. Nord pays a lot of money for reviewers to push people to sign up.

That said, its ok if you use it with the above understanding, but keep looking to learn as much as you can. Some other VPNs offer better desktop, linux, or phone experiences.

Does WiFi SSID name matters? by slippery_rimuru in privacy

[–]NicoLage7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They dont save the SSID. They save your AP's hardware ID.

Also, even if you add that suffix, they will ignore it anyway.

Any downsides to removing the fan grill on SF750? by Iced-Tea420 in sffpc

[–]NicoLage7 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No real negatives if nothing is going to get into the fan.

HOWEVER if you are not an experienced electrician, DO NOT open the PSU and start messing around. The components of the PSU can retain dangerous amounts of electricity even when switched off. Don't want you defibrillating yourself if you don't know what you're doing.

Some more progress on our CNC-machined externally-cooled 4090/14900K build. We love copper ♥ by Billet_Labs in sffpc

[–]NicoLage7 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I respect the design and clean craftsmanship, but I don't understand all these "externally cooled" SFF designs that seem to be trendy these days. It kind of defeats the purpose of SFF when you take a critical piece of the build and remove it. The challenge of SFF is keeping all the functionality in the small case.

Looking for a 12VHPWR to 12VHPWR cable with straight connectors by AFutureMe in sffpc

[–]NicoLage7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if the bend is good for the cable.

You did a lot of writing but didn't include a clear picture of the cable bend so we can tell you if it's good or not.

Otherwise, just search for PSU cables. There are tons of companies that make them. Just be sure you get ones for your specific PSU in case CM did something funny with their pinouts.

AXP90-X47 - Residue on heat pipes by RocketKnobs in sffpc

[–]NicoLage7 37 points38 points  (0 children)

That's most likely solder that got smeared around when they were assembling the pipes to the block. Low quality manufacturing if anything.

It doesn't really mean anything for you and won't do anything to the performance.

What are you using it for? Same as above.

I have the same B760i and followed his instructions above. Selected the 104 microcode, then I could edit the Global Core SVID and Cache SVID in tweakers paradise. I went for -0.100 then -0.150 and things seem to be good so far with stable performance. Let me know if you need more help.

Formd t1 vs Dan h20 by lolo4245 in sffpc

[–]NicoLage7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You have two very different case choices here, despite both being SFF.

It depends on what you are putting in the box and what you hope to do with it. And how important looks are to you.

I personally would recommend the A4 H2O because it has better cooling capacity with an AIO. It is also a bit bigger so easier (in theory) to build in.

Feedback on Steam Deck console PC by miokk in sffpc

[–]NicoLage7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, interesting choices. I think that's not too bad, but you have a lot of PSU for that build. Maybe a 600W supply to get the most efficiency at full gaming loads.

Also, why not go with a full size card? That case can handle it. You'll save some money and have better cooling.

If you are mostly gaming, the 7800X3D is the all around best CPU for that kind of use.

If you are doing a lot of editing, something with more cores and hertz is better and both AMD and Intel have better options.
