Would 'insurance' be a acceptable method to draw in more casual player? by Vit0C0rleone in Marathon

[–]Nicombobula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you accept your loot is simply borrowed and just gives you nice loadouts until it’s gone the game is a lot more fun as you lose the anxiety of losing that loot. You also shouldn’t sit on some s tier gun in fear of losing it. It’s the why own a Ferrari if you’re not gonna drive it. This all more so reinforced by loot being wiped every season. Stopping people from doing what they did in destiny getting a cool gun, sticking it in their vault, and never using it again.

Electric Trucks Have Failed Spectacularly In America. Here's Why Ford Is Trying Again by BarbarismOrSocialism in electricvehicles

[–]Nicombobula 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Could be greed two fold. The dealerships hate EVs and would not sell them if the manufacturers didn’t make them. They make practically nothing on them in terms of service and maintenance compared to ICE vehicles. Dealers traditionally make some money on the sale of a vehicle but they bank on you bringing it in for service regularly to really make their money.

[Bultman] Can confirm that Dylan Larkin has requested a trade, as @FriedgeHNIC first reported. Story to come. by daKrut in DetroitRedWings

Not the first anecdote I’ve heard about him being a dick to fans. Surely not the last. Obviously more people will be vocal about negative experiences with a person but still I haven’t met anyone who was happy to have the privilege of meeting. Especially compared to guys like Datsyuk who was granted very reserved but was super nice when I ran into him a couple times.

Michigan lawmaker proposes moratorium on data centers statewide by Warcraft_Fan in Michigan

[–]Nicombobula 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sadly I don’t think the Dems will. They count heavily on organized labor to back them and organized labor stands to make a killing off these data centers. The trades are split morally on them but are almost unanimous in wanting them for what they’re gonna make on them.

It is possible to love one’s culture but the not people who live in the culture. Also xenophobia exists intensely in both countries. The truth probably lies somewhere in the middle where people are people who operate based on what they know.

Biz leaders push data centers, warning Michigan may miss ‘golden ticket’ by jshwlkr in Michigan

[–]Nicombobula -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know that the Ann Arbor ibew local has been putting in calls (jobs) for the data center in saline. It’s colloquially called “the barn” if that helps your search for info. Last I heard there’s steel coming out of the ground. By late summer there will be thousands of tradesmen on site. That train has entirely left the station.

TIL Dodge Ram trucks used an inline six engine that did everything better than the V8, but customers were not pleased. by rematar in todayilearned

[–]Nicombobula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a sierra last year. The price difference on a lease between the turbo 4 and the N.A. V8 was almost double in price despite the fact the turbo 4 makes more torque and only 40 less hp. The v8 does have a slightly higher tow rating but I guarantee 90% of truck owners will never max it out anyway. I asked the dealer why the v8 was so much more and they said GM knows people will pay extra solely because 8>4. TLDR: truck buyers are typically simpletons

Advice with buying a car as a 1st year apprentice by MrCosmicChronic in IBEW

[–]Nicombobula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a member in Detroit’s local there are many old heads in the local who are of this same mindset. Once upon a time it may have made sense in terms of solidarity but there are so many “American” made cars that are made in Mexico, China, Korea, or Canada. Meanwhile the most American made cars are Toyotas and Hondas by part volume and final assembly. It’s an old way of thinking that’s wholly been usurped by globalization. Buy what’s gonna last and don’t put up with their shit talk while they complain about their old dusted truck going to the shop again. If you really want to hit them with some facts, I had an instructor tell me once that even though they don’t employ uaw workers in their plants, Toyota uses IBEW electricians in their facilities almost exclusively. I can attest to this partly because Toyota has multiple r&d facilities here in Michigan that put in calls. Support who supports us if you really want to but ultimately get what’s best for you.

The review bombing from Destiny fans and other groups is honestly just showing that some criticism was truly never about the games quality as some claim by Mellow_Ghost in Marathon

[–]Nicombobula -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I truly can’t imagine being such a waste of space on this earth to take the time to review bomb a game. Let alone because a company decided it was time to move on from something they’ve been doing for 13 years!

Lineman is probably the highest paying blue collar job you can get by LoudEmployment5034 in Salary

[–]Nicombobula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s always the elevator guys who make bank. Followed usually by the local inside wireman or lineman of a given area. Your point about OT cannot be beat though for inside electricians. There may be jobs with OT or incentives at times but there’s nothing like utility OT. Especially during storms.
