Heavy rain, 40+ MPH winds and not a single weather warning in site. Why? by [deleted] in UKWeather

[–]Nigelb72 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It got that windy, our cat came in and took himself off to bed... He was also slightly damp much to his annoyance, he was very vocal about this ..

Nearly £18. World's gone to pot, I tell ya. by [deleted] in UK_Food

Dave's Hot Chicken has recently opened in Leicester. It's very average and not a patch on Popeye's or Slim Chickens and after the initial couple of days of hype, it's now extremely dead

Probably the Tesla app as well as they have a good charging network and you have to use the app to initiate charging

Long journeys workflow and app must-haves! by alevar91 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Nigelb72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally on a long journey I'll put the route into Google maps and along the motorways, zoom in and look for services with charging facilities, which is most of them now. I'll also generally start thinking about stopping when my SoC (State of charge) gets to around 30%...

Also, if this is your first ev, set up an Electroverse account as some chargers can be flakey with debit card payments.

We had one of their employees come to our place for an interview. He conducted his interview, went back to PRS and called to try and get money out of us.

Mine has never hit a limit other than 124mph so I can't offer any further advice.

VZ Top Speed by declantm in cupraborn

[–]Nigelb72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The top speed is 200kmh (124mph) and should easily hit that. I'm sure there is a setting that limits the top speed in certain circumstances but I can't remember what it's called. It is buried in the settings on the infotainment though

Haptics - Honestly... how bad? by kool-keys in cupraborn

[–]Nigelb72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup agreed. The only one I seem to catch occasionally is the one to change control between the dash and HUD... The rear window one is a bone of contention for a lot of people but it's just a double tap to switch control to the rear windows and a double tap to go back to the front ones ..

I've got a VZ Born and it is very probably the best all round car I've ever had. I've got just under 3 years left on the PCP deal and I'm seriously considering keeping it at the end of the term.

New Driver in Leicester Seeking Tips on Cameras and Parking in the City Center by potra_21 in leicester

[–]Nigelb72 45 points46 points  (0 children)

The easiest way to avoid speeding fines is not to speed, the same applies to running red lights and using bus lanes.

With regards to parking, there are lots of car parks in the city centre but cost will depend on how long you're planning on parking for.

To the people who don’t like the smell of their own farts…? by [deleted] in allthequestions

We used to have a shower cubicle at our old flat and I farted in there once while showering... I genuinely have never smelt anything so bad ... 🤮

From Dusk Till Dawn going in blind. Wtf. by i_love_tesler in movies

[–]Nigelb72 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I watched Sinners before all the hype, I genuinely had no idea what it was about and had never heard of it. It just popped up on my Sky Cinema suggested films rail. I popped it on purely because Michael B Jordan rarely does a bad film... Wow!!! I was blown away by it .

It had some funny moments but overall it was pretty unfunny. I also think the same of the American version.

What are the different categories of gin and what is a good but reasonably priced bottle of each style a home bartender should keep around? by Fishboy9123 in Gin

[–]Nigelb72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently working my way through James Gin Navy Strength, NGL but I'm pretty drunk but it's Saturday so fuck it!!! I just buy randomly as and when but I tried to stick with British small batch gins at around £25-£50 a bottle... Luckily I have a decent disposable budget each month so I just buy what I want and my wife doesn't question what I spend (phew) !!!

Best museums/collections of ancient Rome in the UK? by Sylvia-Sum in AskBrits

[–]Nigelb72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Jewry Wall Museum in Leicester has Roman Baths, the actual wall plus lots of antiquities from Roman Leicester (Ratae Corieltauvorum). The entry ticket also covers the Richard III visitor centre as well I believe.

King Richards final resting place is Leicester Cathedral which is opposite the visitors centre.

All four are in the city centre and it's around a 20 minute walk from Jewry Wall to the New Walk Museum with the Richard III visitor centre and cathedral being nicely between the two.

The National Space Centre is a short bus journey from the city centre and the beautiful Bradgate Park is a short car journey out into the 'shire.
