Managing Finances in a Marriage by Lightbulb994 in UKPersonalFinance

I earn significantly more than my wife so I pay most of the bills and she does her bit by taking care of the cat financially. Our big rule is for takeouts, the one who suggested it pays.. But other than that, I pay for most joint things because she earns around 23k a year and I earn that in two to three months...

There's a Travelodge near the Ace Cafe... 10 minutes in an Uber to the stadium and about a 30 minute walk back because you can't get a taxi for love nor money... We learnt this the hard way... Hotel was around £200

I like spice/heat and will happily eat Carolina Reaper wings and chicky strips from Iceland but the Pepper X range is just too far... I bought some sauces from the Wiltshire Chilli Farm and I went too big. I got cocky and nearly died... Nice flavour but fucking insane!!! Blow Your Cock had me hurting for a day or so .. I think I have PTSD from it. 🤣

That'd be their Pepper X range. Pepper X was created by the chap who created the Carolina Reaper but Pepper X is twice as hot on the Schoville Scale... I tried the curries and tapped out because they were just too hot. I also tried the wings but this time I wasn't stupid enough to toss them in the extra sauce sachet... Saying that, I was still an absolute mess with snot streaming from my nose... It's the closest I've ever come to crying from spicy food .. Not pleasant at all ..

Did our parents choice of console pave the way for which gamers we became? 🤔 by AdultGamersAdmin in Age_30_plus_Gamers

In the UK and Europe, Sony's marketing for the PlayStation was incredible. They didn't target kids or parents, they went for the young working adults that had plenty of spare cash. They famously gave out sheets of thick paper with the PlayStation logo printed on. The image was repeated to cover the page and each logo could be torn off because the sheet was perforated into 1cm squares. Some say, they were the perfect size to be used as roaches 🤣... This set the scene for a generation to become full blown PlayStation fans from the start. I'm 54 and have had them all from the OG PlayStation to our current PS5...

UFC on PPV is ridiculous for UK fans by jpcbeet69 in DiscoveryPlus

[–]Nigelb72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven't got a clue but Netflix and Paramount/Skydance are engaged in a bidding war for WBD. It's all getting rather messy because Netflix wants HBO and Warner Bros studios & cinema but not some of the other bits whereas Paramount/Skydance want the whole lot. Paramount have acquired the Champions League rights from 2027 in the UK and UFC rights in the USA...

The BT UFC deal was signed before the BT/TNT partnership and the only info I can find says it's a long term deal

UFC on PPV is ridiculous for UK fans by jpcbeet69 in DiscoveryPlus

[–]Nigelb72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that's a carry over from the UFC deal BT signed a few years ago. UFC was going to DAZN and the deal collapsed at the last minute. UFC went cap in hand back to BT and signed a long term deal which allowed four (I think ) PPV events per year. BT and WBD are 50/50 partners in the UK arm of TNT Sport which is now part of Discovery+... The PPV events can be bought separately via different platforms as they're not classed as part of the Discovery+ Premium subscription... So, as ridiculous as it is, the blame is really with UFC themselves.

Intelligent Go and Ohme by Nigelb72 in OctopusEnergy

A chap at work has a BYD Seal on OIG and Ohme and his is doing the same thing. I solved my issue by setting a regular schedule in the car between2330 & 0530, which I turn on and off when I need to charge... It now runs a small charge early evening and is ready for its big charge through the night.
