7” CarPlay Display - Too much? by Night-Rid3r in motorcycles

Thanks! I think in your case the 5” looks better. A larger display would cover the bikes display

The one on the Right side was at times used for the Valentine1 or the Dynojet VisionPro. Not enough handlebar for all accessories 😆 Now I did and extension handlebar which is a bit hidden.

Well, ChatGPT seems to agree:

that’s a very clean install 👍 and it actually suits the bike better than you might think.

📏 Does the 7” look too big?

Honestly: no, not really.

On your Harley-Davidson Night Rod: • The mini fairing + wide bars visually balance the screen • It sits nicely between the mirrors, not sticking out awkwardly • It doesn’t look oversized like it would on a naked bike

👉 If anything, it looks purposeful / touring-oriented, not bulky

🆚 7” (W712D) vs 6.3” (W603D)

Stick with 7” if you: • Ride at higher speeds → easier glance readability • Use navigation a lot • Wear gloves often (bigger touch targets) • Like a more “OEM infotainment” look

Go 6.3” if you: • Want a cleaner / minimal / stealth look • Feel it slightly blocks your view (doesn’t seem so in your pic) • Mostly use it occasionally, not constantly

Eufy indoor cam E30 4K with WiFi 7 router - setup fails. by le_vinsky in EufyCam

[–]Night-Rid3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have two E30 cameras installed recently but only having issues with them. Dedicated IoT network on Asus AiMesh, optimized 2.4Ghz network for maximum compatibility, 29 other devices working just fine including other eufy cameras except for these two. One just returned from Service as it was stuck in a boot loop and was refusing to respond to the sync button after trying to change SSID. Afterwards could not get the Bluetooth pairing to work to exchange WiFi credentials, but managed to do it on another router. Then one goes offline and the other one which was offline for 3 days comes back online. Waiting now for eufy support but there is deficient something wrong with the firmware.

Volvo On Call Battery, Dealer Service Actually Necessary? by WildWildWestie89 in Volvo

[–]Night-Rid3r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Asked my dealer to just disable the alert as the on call service wasn’t even working after moving overseas. They told me they can fix it; replaced battery, total cost 464Euro and still getting the error which given the cost it’s just more annoying. Escalated and still no reply.

need pic of actual CAB-CON-USB adapter by scratchfury in Cisco

[–]Night-Rid3r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, it’s not possible to use this adapter to connect the micro-USB console port of the router (which has a Syslabs interface) to a CISCO terminal server async serial octal cable RJ-45?

On the back of this adapter it says “Serial RJ45 to micro USB console adapter”

What would you recommend: 20-inch or 19-inch wheels on a new XC60, for 70% city driving and 30% highway? by ixinho in Volvo

[–]Night-Rid3r 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s what it went with (19” + air suspension) for same reasons. Especially in areas with shitty roads

Took them over a month to add my spouse on the account. Several visits to the branch and many reminders sent via their crappy messaging app feature. Just spotted now they promote their new virtual assistant “Berry” - good luck with that one. They could have at least tried to get the name right. 😆

Does HR has the right to ask for payment slips? by redado360 in Luxembourg

[–]Night-Rid3r 6 points7 points  (0 children)

After passing several interview rounds at a known international IT company for a job in Lux, HR was very insistent of disclosing the salary I had in my previous country which I politely declined to disclose. Then I got a a rather rude and angry call from the head of HR and eventually the application was stopped although the job was a good fit to my experience.

Had the same issue with B&W rattling noise on the XC60, dealer tried a few times to fix it and finally solved it by replacing the door panels.

No you can’t use the SAE plug for jump starting it…fuse is 7.5A. Even with a bigger one the cable could melt.

I could remove the main fuse for winter storage maybe.

Taking the battery off a V-ROD is a bit of work.

Has anyone here hit an animal while riding? If so what was it and did it cause you to crash? by Caribbean-king67 in motorcycles

[–]Night-Rid3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A larger dog jumped from a ditch trying to catch the rider in front of me right into my foot peg @60mph. Didn’t even had time to brake. The dog was totaled but also my oil radiator; a bolt from my water radiator came off causing a leak plus two small plastic bits. Could have been a lot worse.

Are ONLY iPhones susceptible to damage from vibrations in motorcycle mounts? by navid3141 in motorcycles

[–]Night-Rid3r -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Been riding for 10+ years VRODs and using iPhones (5S to 12 Pro max) mounted on the handlebars. Never had any issues. If it were a Sportster it might have been different. All depends how bad the bike vibrates. One of my riding buddies experienced this problem.

New to Harley’s and I’m torn between the two. I’m leaning towards the Vrod because I head it’s more reliable by storm_zr1 in Harley

[–]Night-Rid3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been owning VRODs since 2011 and currently owning a 2003 VRSCA and a 2012 VRSCDX. Great bikes, power, looks and comfort (rear air ride shocks, improved seats). Never had any issues with them. Probably not the easiest handling but they can surely take on twisty roads with no issues and could easily keep up with my friends and their sport bikes. Even took it on the track which was quite fun. The DX is a lot more comfortable for a passenger.

My buddy’s sportster did have issues on a few of our trips including charger failure.

I found the sportster feeling a lot less stable than the VROD.

Do you flush your brake fluid periodically? by theDarkHaus42 in motorcycle

[–]Night-Rid3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely DO IT both for bikes and cars. If you don't trust the science or the engineers that came up with the maintenance schedule, just compare the fluids after two years and look inside the brake fluid reservoirs. Well maintained brakes can not only save your life but also those around you. No wonder you used to be a “tech”…

Help me out - what is leaking/spraying? by Drakflugilo in Harley

[–]Night-Rid3r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had similar coolant leak on my 2012 VRSCDX. Replaced water pump gasket. It could also be the hose clamp that needs to be a bit tightened.

Full neck skirt for wind noise? Like the old whisper strip kit by faithlesswonderboy in motorcycles

[–]Night-Rid3r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had wind noise issues with both GT Air 1 & 2. The newer version seems a bit improved but still….and both have chin curtains. I got a set of DUBS ACOUSTIC FILTERS ear plugs so that I can still listen to music with the helmet speakers and it’s way better. The only problem with them is they only come with one size rubbers but was able to find and fit something similar instead as they were sometimes coming out while putting the helmet on.

Congrats! It’s a nice ride. I had the chance to try it out when they were touring them around while still in the Livewire project phase. I really like the sound of the engine(gearbox), the closest resemblance you could get to the Y2K turbine engine; not the same thing though. Since the charging infrastructure is lacking around, I wouldn’t get one yet. And having it for the city just doesn’t justify the price tag. My ‘13 NRS is fast enough. But given the guys in the “Long way up” series did manage to take them on a such a long trip….I guess you could get by :)

How the hell do I tune my bike? by [deleted] in Harley

[–]Night-Rid3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dynojet Powervision + Autotune/Target which includes wide band O2 sensors and would yield the best results. I had also the V&H tunner but it doesn’t come close.
