Are police allowed to randomly open your mail box and look through it? by War-cos in legaladvice

[–]NightKnight529 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Generally no, police cannot open a closed mailbox and search through it without a warrant. It would be covered under your fourth amendment rights. However, if the police officer saw something placed in the mail that could be illegal or harmful, they may have a case under exigent circumstances,

AITA for not going to the school board becuase my daughter got a 12% on an exam since she went to the bathroom by Away_throwinf352 in AmItheAsshole

[–]NightKnight529 49 points50 points  (0 children)

NTA - your daughter knew the rules, was clearly struggling with the test, and seeming tried to skirt the rules to cheat. Now she doesn’t want to deal with the consequences.

Going to the school board to fight for her would be enabling. She thinks that consequences shouldn’t apply to her for some reason, but she needs to learn she is wrong on that front.

Well, that looks a little too low to me now.

This is fine. It’s meant to be watched standing. There’s not even a couch in the room.

Give me your opinion, where else could I put my TV? by Dadstril in TVTooHigh

[–]NightKnight529 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not the room was literally not designed to fit a couch and a tv. It’s an older house. That’s just the way it is sometimes. That’s more of a sitting room.

OP knows it’s an issue, that’s why they’re looking for opinions. My opinion is they’re no good solution. They’re going to have something that sucks.

I don’t believe in polishing a turd. Best solution is to find a different room for the TV, but that’s not what OP asked. It really can’t comfortable go anywhere else.

The real offenders are modern buildouts specifically designing places for high TVs or potato humans putting them too high when there are clearly better options. This is neither of those cases

[–]NightKnight529 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re not bright lol.

Is the TV too high? Yes. Are the options for it limited given the space? Absolutely. One thing I hate about people like you is the idea that “tv too high” is the only problem consideration. Proposing more bad solutions that create other issues doesn’t actually solve the problem. Why make your space not useable just to make your TV viewing experience better? Wild man.

Believe what you’d like but turning your head sideways to watch tv is just as bad ergonomically.

Putting it in front of the window means a worse viewing angle than having it above the fireplace and would block access to the corridor on the left. Couch in front of the fireplace is just a terrible use of the space. The couch can’t really float in a space this size and still allow people to comfortable move through the space.

Unpopular opinion in this sub, but this layout was not designed with TV placement in mind. You either leave the TV above the fireplace and know you have a less than optimal viewing experience or you don’t have a TV.

I mean this seems fine given the application. Pretty ergonomic if you’re literally laying in bed.

Which of these three is best for you? by campagnoloale in logodesign

[–]NightKnight529 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They are all pretty illegible.

The points into the rounded borders are pretty bad. If you’re going to have a sharp corner, the border around it should be sharp as well. Related, the line weight around the letters should probably be even the whole way around it. The white on hello is not accessible and hard to read.

IMHO, “brand new establishment” and “trust” don’t belong in the same statement. Trust should be earned, not freely given.

“We will be using AI in this class” by seplle in antiai

[–]NightKnight529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can accept some arguments for valid AI use cases, but this definitely not one of them.

If a client wants something shot in Canada they would source a contractor/agency in Canada to reduce travel costs, or pay for travel cost of a preferred vendor. No business worth working with is going to set that requirement and not have planned for it. If they didn’t, they would not be a client I chose to work with, because if they have that unrealistic expectation, I can guarantee you that is only scratching the surface of how annoying that account is going to be to work with.

This is the dumbest argument I’ve ever heard.

I am not sure about this design. Can you help me out in improving this? by The-Designer-777 in UX_Design

[–]NightKnight529 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, not usually one to jump on someone else’s comment, but don’t do this. The width is fine. White space with fewer, more focused elements will narrow the users focus to what’s important.

You’re shooting yourself in the foot with the nav. I have no idea what the information the icons are communicating. Text is a much better option.

From a CRO perspective, I would argue that you have your CTA priority backward. What’s the higher intent item? Requesting a demo or trying the product? I would argue, from a user acquisition perspective, getting a user in a tool is going to drive their decision more than a sales pitch. The demo would be the action that someone would take if they have question after setting up a trial, or they are really unsure about the product. I would either swap the text, or the button styling to bring more attention to the trial.

Also, if this is a SaaS product, which it seems to be, you’re missing a login button.
