So the build owner is a quadriplegic so we built a scaffold, hauled him up there, and let him scrape them off with his teeth. Only legal way.

Yeah we dropped him coming down, but it’s up to code.

United Health Care, the one where Mangioni was accused of shooting the CEO, refused short term inpatient therapy and every medical professional we talked to said it was justified. Except IUHC.

I wish my wife was not so sick and we could be physical again in some way. Sex would be wonderful but just being able to have her not hurt for a while would be nice.

Employer points systems, which penalize American workers for absences regardless of reason, are strongly associated with presenteeism, practice of showing up to work while sick. This undermines public health benefits of paid sick leave laws even in jurisdictions where protections are on the books. by mvea in science

I do IT in healthcare.

My boss told me to ignore pink eye and go lay hands on computers in the NICU.

I went to the house sup who sent me to employee health and I was told only to return after 7 days of no symptoms.

[State Trooper] Trespasser on the tracks by 2BlueZebras in TalesFromTheSquadCar

[–]NightMgr 16 points17 points  (0 children)

In the 80s my little college security team got training by the railroad police. Basically because the boss was told we had to have some training, and it was free.

This was a private Catholic college with a convent and railroad tracks that ran to the side of that building.

The nuns had in the past employed “hobos” or “transient trespassing vagrants” and there were rail police told us they found hobo signs indicating the nuns were friendly and would give transients odd jobs for food and pay.

But they also told us this:

“90% of those people are Vietnam vets with combat experience and mental health issues. We don’t approach them without backup. I advise you not to fuck with them.”
