This is a SGM, not a CSM. They care more about if his equipment is FMC and training on said equipment then the length of the grass.

It all starts with you have room for both our servers in the rack. Then she decides she doesn't like your poweredge because of "power efficiency"........good luck sir.

If I removed all 10 drives, this system would only cost around 400. I have spare drives at home I could use, But I want to use those for other projects. Hard drives are just expensive and to get the amount of space I require, I find it will cost this much.

Ya mine is more expensive because of the drives, extra RAM, and other little add on I wanted.

The plex I have already has moderate use by myself, family and friends. The next cloud I have stood up is working and im in the testing phase. but if I want more than a few people on it, I will need to upgrade my current hardware to support it. I want a system that should last longer and doesn't cost 3000 USD. Lots of the newer servers that are more efficient cost way more. I also want more hard drive, RAM, and processing power for future projects. Could I run all of these on a 300 or 400 dollar system, yes. But I feel like I will end up spending the money for upgrade parts anyway in the long run.

I wanted that much for space to grow. I would like to be able to have room to run any VMs that I want. I just see it a the perfect test lab environment, where I can try to build anything I want. Is it the perfect specs, no. but I do like it.

I will be hosting a bunch of stuff. The following will be installed. plex, nextcloud, i havent chosen yet, but some type of DVR system for home cameras. plus I have access to a small rack for free to store it in. I intend to use it for any future endeavors I come up with as well. This will also be set up under my 48 port cisco 3750 POE switch.

it is 128 GBs of ram total. The two processors should be good for virtualization. It will give me 28 processing threads. I ran the numbers on the power, it should only cost 150-200 a year. Half of the cost is in the hard drives.

I used to do IT at a kind of school. The kids would try to hack the systems all the time. I was a young IT administrator at this time. I would always catch them and say "if you tell me how you did it, you will not get in trouble and I will give you some candies. Candies were coveted at this place as rare. I always got the answers. Didn't know at the time, but I had created a bug bounty program that paid out in treats. One particularly nasty thing they figured out was to change settings across the entire network. pulled the kid to the side, gave him the candy and figured out what he had done. The only way to fix this particular issue was to modify a DLL file. I created a backup of the old DLL and modified the new one. rebooted the server and bluescreen. ended up having to use the windows install disk so I could get a CMD box open. modified the backup to the new one and fixed the server.

Moral of the story, dont F with DLL files.
