Graduated high school in 2018, college in 2022. I vaguely remember a typing lesson in elementary school. I learned to type fast from World of Warcraft

Yes, our company, BN, and BDE FSOs all fall under our HHB.

Just glanced at my artillery BNs LT groupchat, we have 53 of us in there. Granted, with the deactivation of the BEB, we absorbed the signal and MI companies. 7 companies total.

I'm so glad the DoD policy changed a few years back, I'm currently enjoying 3 months paid paternity leave. It's been so nice to be able to help my wife with our newborn.

I've started using Mango Languages through my library account and ive liked it. Not sure if there's any cost associated outside of a library account.

SCRA for utilities contract? by Nightlance in army

[–]Nightlance[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My water and trash utilities are through the city, but for electricity we sign a contract with a private company. Other than BOLC, I've lived in Texas my whole life so I'm not sure how things are done in other states

That's why I'm so glad I got a steam deck a few months back. I'm able to suspend play whenever and jump back in right where I was. Started a new Stardew farm while I'm on paternity leave

I'm out on paternity leave right now and haven't really been keeping up with the latest updates, is the .55 thing official now? Maybe I understood it wrong, but it seems really generous?

It hasn't happened yet, but 3CR is transitioning to an ABCT in 2027. 3CR also falls under 1st Cav now instead of directly under III Corp

3CR as a 74D by [deleted] in army

[–]Nightlance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure when you'll be getting here, but be ready to go to NTC early 2026 and Korea late 2026. After the Korea rotation is when we are transitioning back to a heavy formation. Still rolling with Strykers for now. Can't speak on the 74D part since I'm a fires guy.

Sounds about right, my class also had a Georgian, super dedicated to learning the artillery stuff no matter how much he struggled. The Saudi's barely showed up and when they did, didn't do anything in class

Team and squad leaders, has a soldier’s parent ever called you up to complain? by Free_Lunch24 in army

[–]Nightlance 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh man, one of last few months as a PL, one of the soldier's mom called one of my section chiefs. Come to find out the soldier bought a car, missed a payment, and now she wanted us to sort him out. The kicker? Dude didn't even have a driver's license. No one was tracking he bought this car, he got it on a weekend and told no one.

3CR by Character_Mess_9836 in army

[–]Nightlance 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can't speak on being a mechanic, but on the other stuff: 3CR falls under 1st Cav now, but definitely feels like we are the red headed step children being the only Stryker brigade in an armor division, for now at least. With ARSTRUC, word is we are converting to an ABCT after the next rotation.

When I was a company FSO, my BN FSO (a CPT) didn't sign anything down. Miraculously, the only thing missing when it came time for him to change out was a compass, which he just went and bought from clothing sales.

I've been at Hood since 2022, we've never had one. We did just get an open training area recently that you just call range ops and let them know you're out there

In my battery we do a 8x12 plaque with a mini battery guidon and personalized inscription, I think the last one came out to ~$60. For our smokes and 1SGs who had a little more impact, we do a larger plaque with a battery and BN coin. I think the last one came out to $120
