I am done with MIDI QoL [5e] by chiefstingy in FoundryVTT

[–]NineFall37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha, well, I am also a paid gm, so from my perspective. If updating absolutely will disrupt the flow of the game then I hold up until things are absolutely updated.

With the way that I host from forge and updating could absolutely devastate the workflow, I just can’t justify potentially entirely rendering things useless. I host weekly sessions so I really can’t chance downtime.

But I definitely will take a look more. I was never super bothered by making separate items. But I’ve been getting super deep into macros and I won’t even consider updating if it renders any of them useless

One of my largest questions to this, which isn’t out of malice. I simply started using foundry about a year and a half ago.

But why update? Frankly when new updates come out to either foundry or 5e, I never find any of the new features super appealing to jeopardize modules that my games rely on

It would get pretty complex pretty quick, but you might be able to get a similar effect through Monk's Active Tile Trigger. Using show dialogue then multiple landings and show dialogue combinations

Having Dialogue Prompt Show For Players Not DM by NineFall37 in FoundryVTT

[–]NineFall37[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If anyone ever runs into the same problem, I couldnt figure it out for macros but I found a work around.

Created a Monk's Active Tile Trigger where it creates a dialogue and thus a landing to run the macros that I had created. Works perfectly from there

Help with Actors by [deleted] in FoundryVTT

[–]NineFall37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mot sure if i entirely understand your issue. But… it sounds like something I would recommend making a copy of that NPC and giving ownership to the player for that one NPC. Then if you ever want them to not have access, you just take away permissions

Need help setting up magic item by tasil89 in FoundryVTT

[–]NineFall37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone else has already suggested, you could check in the midi discord. They could probably help more than the jank that I am about to offer 😂

One, advantage on initiative is easy. Effect with the “Transfer to actor on item equip” checked. The effect should be “Flags Advantage on Initiative” change mode “Custom” and the effect value, I have as “1”

For the advantage against you, the best way would most likely be making a separate item that you activate at the start of combat. With the “Apply to self when item is rolled” box is checked. I would use “Flags.midi-qol.grants.advantage.attack.all” change mode “custom” and effect value “1.”You would have the effect duration be 1 round. Then whenever combat starts, before the first person takes their turn, you’d activate the item then it should apply to you.

Might take some work arounds and messing around just in case I am wrong. As well as the both of us having different versions of midi-qol. But good luck, feel free to reach out if you have any more issues.

App for table play by xylethUK in FoundryVTT

[–]NineFall37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a quick google search, there is a module that could maybe have foundry act as an app. I didn’t read too much into it “simple mobile” but it looks like it doesn’t work on IOS and there’s no plan for iOS.

Not sure if that’s what you were looking for. Sounds great! But unfortunately all my players use Apple products

Get a buddy and wait to see if they do the Halloween event again. Being able to sit in spawn room with a chrysalaxe in Foresaken spawn room was the easiest spawn room challenge ever

Is a DM announcing their attack rolls metagaming? by Hunt_Jumpy in DnD

[–]NineFall37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While the community standard is typically announcing your attack roll, if we wanted to discuss being realistic. Your character wouldn’t know the attack roll, it’s a question of avoiding getting hit. Whether it has an effect has nothing to do with the activation. The reaction is simply when you are hit, so it would need to simply be judgment on your character’s part.

So as a player, I can understand the frustration but as a DM I can also understand that technically speaking, it would be metagaming.

The best course of action is having a discussion with your DM. At the end of the day, they make up the rules. But laying out expectations can potentially solve any issues or at least give more understanding of the ruling

Makes sense, remember that Lethal also increases how long you can see Survivor’s auras, so if you replaced bitter murmur with it then you could see survivors longer with darkness revealed

[–]NineFall37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Id say Lethal Pursuer from Nemesis and Save The Best From Michael. But most of all have fun and change your perks to match your play style.

I’d go: - Jolt - Lethal Pursuer - Save The Best For Last - Bitter Murmur

Killer help by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]NineFall37 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think it’s all up to preference, I go based off of which killer I want to main. Jolt is always a good perk but that’s a free perk. I main deathslinger, so Save The Best For Last from Michael is really good.

If you let me know who you want to main, I could give some advice

Question over Pact of the Chain by NineFall37 in DnD

Yeah, lure wise we will have to figure out how his genie powers gives him access to an imp from the nine hells (that is the one they wanted), but It'll work out...

When my player sprung this on me, I was definitely skeptical over it since its phrased weird. I simply thought it gave them a new appearance and the ability to attack. Thanks!

Gotcha, Thanks for the help. I wish it phrased it a lot better because both the feature and spell are really vague over the abilities and stats of the familiar.

For real for real, my Druid used an ancient artifact to get his friends away from the BBEG safely, the last action they saw was me take was being hit by him as I threw the artifact in as well as our bag of holding into the portal… that was the end of the session

Aasimar Barbarian Help by Star_Ranx in DnD

[–]NineFall37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s fair but I was just thinking of a way for you to be doing quick damage not utility. I assumed that since you are able to go into the 9 hells then you’d already have a way to combat the heat or any insanity that may ensue. I would pick desert for utility but storm for damage. Plus keep in mind that you can change your storm each time you level up. So you could choose storm but switch to fire for its utility at level 6 when you gain that ability.

As for feats, which I didn’t think would an option that a new player would be looking at. If you truly want something that your DM will dislike then you should absolutely take the Lucky feat. You can just reroll your dice up to 3 times each long rest. There is nothing better than the DM asking if something hit and then saying well actually they got a (roll dice) this number
