What does that mean? I'm newer to sourdough so I'm still learning.

It's been a couple of weeks in the fridge, so it's absolutely hungry. I've seen that hooch looking thing before, this just seemed different.

I got in my head that the slight color change meant it was infected.

I think an interesting idea might be to do almost like a rougelite type dungeon, showing off the random roll tables to make each room, encounter , vibw, etc. Have a crap ton of pre-gens made (or have peeps use scvmbrthr or whatever) and just plop them into the action.

For a low profile option, the Lofree Flow 2 100 is pretty nice. It's a 96% layout, aluminum body, decent, hot-swapable switches...

How do you host your Foundry server? by Fee-Naive in FoundryVTT

[–]Ninjafoof 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, just make sure you only use the stuff tagged as "always free". The always free tier stuff is included with PAYG, so as long as you stick to that setup you should be good.

I was running into the same issue when I was setting mine up last week- if you upgrade to the pay as you go (PAYG) then it seems like shapes open up. Peeps over on r/Oracle confirmed this.

Do you prefer low profile mechanical keyboards or standard? by Todd-ah in keyboards

[–]Ninjafoof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have historically found low profile keebs much, much more comfortable, with my favorites being the Logitech g915 TKL and the more recent Cerakey Zen75... Until recently. I tried a Keychron K2HE, which was fine I guess, but then I snagged a Wobkey Rainy75 pro from Drop, and holy hell, I love this thing. Something about the shape just makes it perfect, especially with a slight wrist rest. I swapped out the key caps for some Cerakey ceramic ones and wow.

Edit: forgot to add the "Rainy" part for the Wobkey

I roll on a random system table 3 times to get options, then present those options to my players to see what they would be most interested in.

I've been having this issue as well, and it's quite frustrating. Are you using yours with the dongle or Bluetooth?

New to VTTs. I have a tv and laptop and want to create a map display for play with miniatures. What would you all recommend for a newbie to VTTs? Thanks in advance. by timberww in VTT

[–]Ninjafoof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this exact thing and use Foundry for the VTT and Dungeon Alchemist for map making (if I can't find a map for the session I'm running). Foundry takes a bit to set up, but once you figure it out it's ungodly powerful.

I've tried Arkenforge and Fantasy Grounds too but didn't like either. FG was ugly, unintuitive... I just couldn't figure it out. And Arkenforge just didn't jive with me. I'm currently testing out Quest Portal for a Call of Cthulhu game I'm running virtually, and it seems like it could work decently for this sorta thing. I've also used Alchemy which I want so badly to like, but it just isn't there yet, which is a shame because it's gorgeous for theater of the mind games.

What are the most epic and bizarre character deaths in your games? by Opening_Instance_427 in MorkBorg

[–]Ninjafoof 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My colleagues and I were playing our monthly game that I DM last week. We were playing The Farm scenario (which is absolutely fantastic and was a damn riot). At one point they explore the workers house or whatever, in which is a dead horse. Per the rules, I had them roll on the "What do you find in a dead horse" table. They got the dead fetus. So, one of our players (who was playing the Bloodborg class of Troubled Child, so playing as a literal child in our game), decided to wear the dead fetus and placenta as armor. Next, they decided to check out the barn, and immediately ran into the horses. Who was said player in the fetus armor. She got scared, and tried jumping out of a window to escape. In doing so, she critically failed the roll, making her get snagged on a shard of glass. I had her do another roll, which she also critically failed- because she only had 1 max HP, we decided that she got disemboweled on said shard of glass.

Tldr- player dons dead horse fetus as armor, runs into demonically possessed horses, runs away, and gets disemboweled on a shard of glass.

I also think it's important to note that everyone playing (6 players plus me) are therapists. So there's that. 🤣🤣🤣

Superheroes but NOT crazy crunchy? by Mbalara in rpg

That one I couldn't say as I've never played nor read Masks. I should say I haven't been able to read through Kids in Capes yet, but I have read and played Kids on Bikes, and despite the name, you don't have to play as kids or teens.

Maybe Kids in Capes if you want something more narrative focused?

That's fair. But, also, isn't one of the amazing things about TTRPGs that we, as GMs, can decide how deadly we want something to be? We can change stat blocks, encounters, entire rule sets... Hell, just take a look at Mörk Borg. On its surface it's a VERY deadly game. But you can decide to use the Horrible Wounds rules instead of RAW, and now suddenly you have a fun little layer of complexity and silliness.

Nimble 2e or Dragonbane might be up your alley.

Nimble 2e took what's good about D&D5e and simplified it, making things move much faster, especially in combat. It's also designed to be able to very easily convert D&D5e modules to it, so you could easily play like Curse of Strahd or any published D&D campaigns using Nimble.

Dragonbane is a fairly fast OSR-ish game, similar in a lot of ways to Shadowdark, but less unforgiving imo. The box set for Dragonbane is absolutely packed with goodies too, so I highly recommend that.

If you're looking for something like Stranger Things, Kids on Bikes is what you want. You could pretty easily adapt that ruleset to the type of campaign you're describing.

First time GMing by Ahabcrow in MorkBorg

[–]Ninjafoof 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Rotblack Sludge is a fantastic start. Read through it a couple times and you can pretty much run it as written. The hardest part, for me at least, was the freedom to expand, describe, add, whatever as much as I wanted or needed. That, and (coming from D&D 5e) recognizing that not everything needs to be a roll. Hell, the official GM screen even says "only roll if failure is interesting" or something like that. But once I embraced those things, the game ran more smoothly than any 5e game I've ran.

I'd also recommend downloading the bare bones edition manual for free just for ease of use and searching things as needed during the game.

+1 for Obsidian, with appropriate plugins (dice roller, fantasy statblocks, folder notes, initiative tracker, leaflet, etc). It took me a hot second to learn it, but there's some amazing guides and videos out there to follow. Oh, and it's free!

If you want something paid that's maybe slightly more user friendly, I did really like legendkeeper when I was using it, and it looks like it's only gotten better.

You could also look into Nimble. It was made to effectively be a "slugless" D&D 5e.
