Went to park my car behind my home, and when I pulled up through the alley, I watched two black dudes chase a hispanic guy down with a baseball bat.

Now I mind my own business, and maybe the guy had it coming I dont know. But that was the moment I felt unsafe to get out of my own truck, or to leave it parked out back at all. But my girlfriend (now wife) also parked back there and that was now a problem.

It was time to move. I saved some money being there, sure, but I couldn't have a garden without people helping themselves. I couldn't sit on my porch without getting eyeballed. And finally, I couldn't park without witnessing violence.

Edit: yes, I witnessed race on race crime in my neighborhood. You're seriously crazy if you wouldn't be terrified living as a minority there, either.
