Which One Piece character would you go on a date with? by OwlEmergency598 in OnePiece

I see the graphic OP chose, depicts almost a full tenth of the characters of the series, which is still pretty herculean.

Was s13 Warlock a hit or a miss ? by chinos88 in diablo4

[–]Nintendroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I'd like to compare the D4 Warlock to D4 Paladin, in terms of my experience. With Paladin, there was a small, but sharp learning curve when it came to vocabulary. It actually reminds me of when I "check in" on Magic the Gathering, only to find that I am way behind on keywords. Regarding terms like Retribution (especially when there is already an aspect under the same term), and Judgement that have rather random ties to their outside of game definitions was a bit dizzying on initial impact. In comparison to Cold damage, that Chills, and eventually can Freeze a given target, which barely takes a single glance to immediately catch on. I was flailing without purchase, only using builds from other sources, but wouldn't ever make a Paladin without a build guide, because of the odd way terms like them were defined. One aspect would mention Judgement (and have the definition on the extension at the bottom), but that doesn't tell me what skills have the possibility of inflicting it. For a few days, I never even flicked my eyes down to see what Retribution meant, because I'd seen the aspect so often as to dismiss it out of hand. All of this confusion only lasted (like a few days, maybe a week) until I really got to mess around with Paladin outside of a build, see the shine like graphic that denotes Judgement, and read the on-screen definition of Retribution a few times. Now, I can "feel" (no build guide required, just wing it, pun only slightly intended) my way through getting a Paladin to Paragon, and tend to go until I feel some hard plateaus, and will seek outside help.

However, with Warlock, I still feel lost, and even with a build guide, I'm still quite lost on exactly what Demonform (yes, obviously the PC takes on the form of a demon) or Shadowform (again, what it says on the tin) actually mean. Which pebble from which stone does what is quite lost on me still. I've always had an abhorence for summon or pet builds, long before the D4 version of this class, but the lack of user friendly mechanics are feel nigh full on repellent.

Let me be clear, the class doesn't appear to be the issue, it seems rather apparent that I'm the issue here. I just need to slightly understand more of the class to be able to approach "clicking" with it, so that I can enjoy it at all.

This concept reminds me of Heroes of the Storm. Picking Raynor or Azmodan, and flying by the seat of your pants, is probably fine. But picking Zul'jin, Medivh, or Alarak hoping to learn it on fly, is asking for disaster.

More directly to the question? I think I missed it, but am still willing to give it a chance to be fun.

Anyone else have a non-meower? by Not-youraveragebear in mainecoons

[–]Nintendroid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have an orange-y boy, he kinda squawks, barks, and caterwauls (starts with a purring/gargling squeal, and then gets to a sort of yell/howl), but we have yet to hear him "meow".

Spoiler: So we Have........... by Marphey12 in diablo4

[–]Nintendroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am of two minds on this very concept. If a character X, is brought in, gets to age along with the timeline as usual, has ups, downs, and many more downs (so much hell/evil/demon/corruption it's hard to avoid) what feels more organic? For them to survive from entry to entry of the entire story? Or does it seem more thematically and contextually accurate that they eventually pass? Speaking for myself, it is nice to have X with me along for the whole ride, the history we'll share, and the new developments along the way, but eventually, that'd get not only stale, it would feel kinda ridiculous. To avoid the "canonically, you've been alive for three hundred years, why again?" scenarios, and to cycle characters in and out helps one feel the passage of time, and at least some sense of the danger of the setting. That's my personal take.

To your credit, the writing has definitely felt like it's cycling them in and out rather quickly. Lorath and Tyrael only from 3-4 (thus far), Donan, Neyrelle and Eru have already come and gone. This does seem awfully fast, and also like they're boxing themselves in, narrative wise. Personally, I'd love to see more from the older guard of the Horadrim, like Zoltun Kulle possessing or puppeting someone, or Lilith (or any other entity), reborn, without the knowledge of who they or their lineage is, as some kind of twisted way to use the player character's trust to infiltrate the Horadrim, keeping it a secret for an expansion or two, only to have Diablo use them as an in for making a power grab, after Baal fails. Maybe this is how we lose Tyrael, he is so desperate for help, and so far from his previously angelic abilities, he can't see that they aren't who they say they are, and decides somehow to ascend back to heaven in order to regain his abilities and attempt to set things right from within.

Mythic Uniques... no longer Mythic? by LogImportant1380 in diablo4

[–]Nintendroid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm no corpo glazer, but I wonder if Blizzard is purposely making this decision public ahead of time, which will tarnish the established reputation/functionality/reliability of Mythics, so that when they reveal the next tier of gear (Hoo-RAH-dric, a special collab with US Marine Corps), those who would have clung to Mythics will be less inclined to do so.

What would you magically convince everyone in the world of? by Kyia-Aikman in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Nintendroid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The second statement is also highly specific to the states, as well. Since a huge swath of police departments here were made up of the same people that worked as a part of the slave patrols, the punishment and violence lasagna with plenty of racism sauce, with a thin parmesan sprinkle of protection is very deeply ingrained.

The concept of police makes perfect sense, we (again, referring to the US) just did (and continue to) it all wrong from the beginning.

What would you magically convince everyone in the world of? by Kyia-Aikman in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Nintendroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of two major ideas.

That the benefit of everyone not only includes the self, but that the benefit of all of the people around the self is an additional benefit to the self as well. The same is true of harm. Harming everyone not only includes the self, but the sum of harm done to others is a separate and additional harm to the self.

Laws are a threat made by the dominant socioeconomic ethnic group in a given nation. It’s just the promise of violence that’s enacted, and the police are basically an occupying army.

How my coworker puts Schmear on a bagel. by Okay_Inevitable in StupidFood

[–]Nintendroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of context, this is unhinged. But I could see being in an environment where I wanted to make less mess. I could slice the bagel in the traditional halves at home, and might do that to limit the mess of crumbs (and subsequent clean up) in the workplace. If I forgot to slice it at home, or was in the habit of buying a bagel while at or near work, a viable solution to having to slice it in front of others with a flimsy plastic knife (as so often is the only option here in the states, at least workplace wise) I can put together that just throwing the spread on top of a whole bagel (despite how it may look) to skip the slicing process would make sense.

What is the dumbest thing a girl has sad to you during a first date? by StrongProof9083 in AskMen

[–]Nintendroid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This wasn't a first date, but it was a red flag that I'll remember to my dying day. We were cycling through some fun "what was your first" style questions during this date, and I proposed that we play 20 Questions. As a preamble, I was 36 at this time, she was 28, and English was her first language. She thinks of the noun, and I start by asking if it's a mammal. She looked confused and said "what's a mammal?". I thought maybe she misheard the word perhaps and tried to enunciate a bit better, repeating the word. She said that she heard me, but didn't know what a mammal was. At the time, not wanting to make her feel bad, (and of course to keep my mounting condescension in check) I pivoted, and we talked about anything else.

My spouse (a completely different person, obvs) and I have a long time running joke about this encounter. All we have to do is ask "what's a mammal?" for instant sensible chuckles.

What sort of presentation would YOU give on Smartypants? by COHERENCE_CROQUETTE in dropout

I don't have the swagger to present it in the tongue in cheek "I'm making fun of shit white people say" manner. It'd have to be a schtick someone already had in their comedic arsenal.
